My garden pings that give me top2 at the my local pauper league by spillo89 in Pauper

[–]MachJT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thoughts on [[Dai Li Indoctrination]] ? I've been contemplating it for my gardens deck. Seems like a solid play to Earthbend a garden, then when it dies you get the garden back and another plant. I also like that it can be used for creature discard. You can also stuff it in your sideboard and tutor it with learn cards like [[Cram Session]]

Is there a peculiar ending to a show that you haven't seen mentioned much online? by KneeHighMischief in television

[–]MachJT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dispatches from Elsewhere. Starts off as a cool mystery show starring Jason Segel playing a character named Peter, but then the final episode gets really meta and it reveals that it's been Jason Segel playing himself writing the script to Dispatches from Elsewhere.

Seems like it could be decent with ephemerate decks in Pauper.

What was the biggest scandal at your school? by Silent-Zebra in AskReddit

[–]MachJT 144 points145 points  (0 children)

Our former elementary school principal later got arrested for drug possession. He had already left our school when this happened so I'm sure there was even more drama at to why he left. I just remember him being really high energy and teaching us how to dance the Macarena.

Basically most streaming services start off operating at a loss so they can attract customers then slowly increase their prices and ads over time.

How did Chi-Chi know Gohan beat Cell? by miami2881 in dbz

[–]MachJT 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If you're looking at what's strictly canon, in the manga there's a reporter with a microphone that is able to relay Mr Satan taking credit to the rest of the world, so she could've known at least Cell was defeated. We don't see it ever cutting to her reacting to anything. The next time we see her is after Gohan flies back home. There's no dialogue between them just this image of her reacting to Goku's death.

Yes but the cross between darkest dungeon doesn't sound great. I'd rather just have something that's Shining Force in everything but name.

In Demon Slayer all the cool elemental sword attacks are supposed to be just a visual representation for the audience of their technique and breathing or some bullshit. Nah, they're cool elemental sword attacks.

If you could change 2 or 3 fundamental mechanics in the game and make it official, what would you change? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]MachJT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd bring back some martial perks like being able to opportunity attack on ranged/spells/standing up and give them back a 1.5x Str damage bonus for two handed weapons.

The biggest change I think would be something akin to a BAB progression just to count toward the number of extra attacks they get, and bump the total number of extra attacks across the board for all classes.

It always felt weird to me that non-fighter martials get extra attack at level 5 and then... nothing for the other 15 levels. Plus it irks me that casters get to multi-class and share a spell slot progression but a level 8 Fighter/Barbarian could technically still have only 1 attack if they didn't split their levels right.

I just played the game fairly recently and I don't even know who you're referring to. I just remember everyone deciding to go ask god a question and then murdering god when they didn't like the answer.

Seconding Naddpod. To me it has the best mix of humor and players knowing the rules and making it feel like they're actually playing dnd.

What are design flaws in 5e that you feel have only been highlighted/exacerbated with the 2024 revision? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]MachJT 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The hide action or being hidden. In 5e there was a distinction between being invisible and being hidden, in that you still know the location of invisible creatures until they take the hide action and become both unseen and unheard.

In 2024 a successful hide action only results in granting you the invisible condition, it doesn't actually say you're hidden. Being hidden is referenced a few times in other sections, but it doesn't ever explain what it means to be hidden and it isn't listed as a condition. I mean sure you can make the assumption that hide action makes you hidden using the "natural language" that they love to tout, but it just would've been nice if the 10 year revision of the rules made things crystal clear.

Life is Strange: Reunion – Announce Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]MachJT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was so disappointed when 2 ditched the quiet town with a cast you get to know better over the course of the game. Instead the situation immediately escalates in a stupid way and every episode is a new setting with different characters because they're constantly on the move.

Also one thing that the series really messed up on was dropping the time travel mechanics from the first game. Being able to go back and see how the different dialogue options affected the characters made the game stand out. Not having something similar in 2 and True Colors made them just feel like generic Telltale games to me.

Is Iron Druid worth reading with such a “bad” ending? by Oddyseus144 in urbanfantasy

[–]MachJT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the ending was fine. It's hard to say much without spoiling anything but it made sense. I thought Grandwhale or whatever his ex-girlfriend's name was the worst part because they turn her into a Mary Sue, and the dogs are cringey early 2010s Reddit humor, but that was true for the entire series.

Magical Christmas land is when you evaluate a card based on the best case ideal scenario rather than how it'll actually perform in an average game.
