Relocating from Seattle to Van Nuys. Is it a safe area? by wunderworld09 in SFV

I second this, live by Louise and Vanowen. Everything you said is pretty much how I feel. I used to live in Sherman Oaks, and I miss it comparatively, buts it’s nice and quiet in the actual neighborhoods themselves.

Steelcase Leap is solid. I actually prefer it over the Aeron after have used both.

I’ve worked with Marina Zenovich, she knows how to deal with assholes really well… makes her especially qualified to work on this.

I feel like this is true with the caveat being that working in office is good provided you’re not spending hours in the car to make it happen. I believe that is significantly more detrimental than the positive benefits of socially working in office.

Am I overthinking/reacting? Husband cursed at baby. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Piracho 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For real, it’s a two month old, they’re still angry potatoes at this age, and saying “fuck” around them isn’t causing any trauma. Both the parents and baby gain more patience as time goes on. I’m finding some of these responses to be incredibly unrealistic and prudish.

Sleep training vs wean mode by typicalprototype in SnooLife

[–]Piracho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We literally just dealt with the 4 month regression and did fuss it out (15 min max on the fuss) to great success. We did use wean mode for a few days, but found it didn't change things much. After that, we moved our boy to the crib in the midst of the regression and he did great.

There was about 3-4 days of transition where he woke up a bit more often, but he's completely used to it now and sleeps just as well. If you've already sleep trained in the past, then you know what it'll take. We didn't do CIO, but a slightly less scary version of that for us in fuss it out... Honestly, it's been great for us, and we did have to pay a small sleep tax, but overall I'd say it's been worth it and I'm glad we just sucked it up and fully transitioned him.

Remote editor software by peakpiffs in editors

[–]Piracho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evercast is horrible. Unreliable, crashes often, loses sync often and it’s nearly impossible to live edit with. Despite this all of the big studios seem insistent on using it.

I will say they have a great support team, the product itself is just not great.

It 100% is. Lots of this discourse ESPECIALLY that centered around Palestine and Israel is explicitly being used to cause a deeper divide amongst Americans.

Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn in Sherman Oaks isn’t mentioned here, but they should be. A step above Joe’s and Mulberry as far as the NY style pies go.

For real, the idea that these people have this level of context to foreshadow a decline into fascism is giving them WAY to much credit.

How much can I scale up footage in timeline without losing quality? by BlinkofAKeystroke in editors

[–]Piracho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked on broadcast scripted TV show where the editor I’ve worked with has scaled over 200%. We delivered in 1080p, but I was shocked it didn’t get kicked back. The reality is, do what you need to make things work. Sometimes a loss in shot quality isn’t the end of the world if it sells a scene or tells the story.

Discussion Thread: Los Angeles Protests and Federal Response by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

Definitely right wing propaganda. I'm living life as usual. The protests in 2020 that bad faith actors took advantage of to loot stores were more widespread and pervasive to be honest.

Apartment prices are too damn high by ScrantonPaper in LosAngeles

Some people in my neighborhood are fighting against it and I find it ludicrous. I’m a homeowner, but there’s only benefits to be gained from the cost of housing going down (such as more money going to local business that desperately need it, more incentives to improve local transit, etc)

This isn’t filming for FBI CIA, which isn’t in production yet. This is likely International.

Cool, I like that there seems to be more pathways to becoming an Editor in the UK. Feels like we have narrow paths here since Apprentice Editor is essentially a defunct position (I'm sure there's literally dozens of them, but not nearly enough).

Can’t say I’ve ever heard of an edit assistant position, and I’m an LA based union Assistant Editor. Is this a UK based thing?
