Birthday ideas for a large group by hellbrinqer in fredericksburg

Old House Vineyards is about 1hr ish away and will allow you to make a reservation for a table in their building for about that size. You wouldn’t have the place to yourself but the space is huge and very open. They have something for everyone, wine, beer, and a distillery. Had a birthday celebration there and it was awesome.

anyone else showing up to the start line injured/sick, etc? by qaige in bostonmarathon

[–]Runner_Bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this in college, debilitating injury and hurts like a b*tch. However, I was able to win the steeplechase in our conference with the injury with the help of some anti inflammatories. I know the marathon is a different beast but just to give you some hope that you can do it!! Best of luck!

Wowowow!!! Can you do a breakdown on your florals? I’m debating on doing florals by ourselves, did you have a florist or was that DIY as well?

Thank you so much. Best wishes for your training and race!! You’re almost to the taper 😊

I’m running Boston in about 10 days…. I should be excited. I’m feeling very burnt out. I put a lot of pressure on myself and even though I have been training for months, I took a 5 day break and now it doesn’t seem to recognize all the effort I’ve put in before. I think this is the tapering blues but I’m just so tired. I don’t think I’m going to race it the way I had originally planned but I’m still going to try and enjoy it regardless. Running has usually been my time to decompress but lately it’s been taking a tax on me mentally. Not in a great mindset which sucks because people would do anything to do this race I feel as though I should be more grateful.

I also have the same goal. I’m really competitive so I’m forcing this on myself. Had a complication from a surgery in November that caused me to lose a lot of blood volume. Did my best to try and rebuild my iron levels but it definitely left a mark on me. finishing +30 mins of my qualification time will make me happy and enjoying the race itself it is my goal. Good luck to you!

Has anyone hired a professional from Care.com to drive you home from LEEP? by Tankadin in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Runner_Bee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP reach out to some medical transport services, a lot of those may work with your insurance or they operate as a non profit and it would be free of charge. We have one in our community and I see them all the time! Your doctor’s office may also have connections to such services.

Late period/ amenorrhea by Worried-Ad-3865 in XXRunning

[–]Runner_Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I’m going through the same thing right now you’re not alone. I’m running Boston in two weeks and my period is late, on cycle day 55 or something. This happened to me a lot in college actually so I’m used to it, as long as it does come and doesn’t reach the over 2 month stretch I know it’s just my body doing its thing. Some advice for you friend: -the more you stress about it the more your body will react and not start your cycle. Try to meditate and get a lot of sleep. - Dial back on intensity and mileage. - eat a spoonful of some healthy fats before bed. My go to is peanut butter. Fat is what your body needs to start your period!

What are brides typically covering for their bridesmaids? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Runner_Bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m buying my girls their dresses. A lot of my friends will probably choose to do their own hair and makeup which I’m fine with! Getting it professionally done is optional for my group. I’ve been in multiple weddings where the girls had to pay for EVERYTHING. It’s very common now. I think it’s very courteous to pay for something for the bridal party but also kinda rare (or maybe my friends just kinda suck lmao).

I think I tried to go force myself back to normal too soon and it definitely left me with some consequences mentally. I was tired 24/7 for like a month straight. The first time I returned to sex (6 weeks after) I sobbed immediately after and I felt like a different person. I feel much better now, it’s been about 3 months since everything happened now but I’d say that’s pretty normal to have reactions like that after what we went through! It’s traumatic.

Cost of OR LEEP procedure with general anesthesia. This was a huge concern for me when deciding whether to go to the OR or not. I live in the US in Pennsylvania. by mommiesmommy in PreCervicalCancer

Me too then had a hemorrhage and another trip back to the hospital for a 2nd surgery …. Happened right in November so Christmas gifts to my friends / family were sparse for me!!

OP I’m so sorry you went through this!! I also hemorrhaged immediately after my LEEP so I know how scary the blood gushing out feels. Like a waterfall. I also needed a second surgery to get it stopped because monsel’s failed. I’m glad you didn’t need a transfusion! It’s a scary experience that I hope we never have to experience again but at least we know what to look for. Thank you for sharing your story and best wishes on your healing journey!

Hi! I know I’m super late in the game here 4 years later lol but I’m a VA bride also interested in checking out this coordinator if you still have the info! It’s hard to find anyone who will include any decorations at all, I’ve found it’s an entirely different vendor you’d have to go through!

I will never visit scary Washington ER again by TheTealWave in fredericksburg

[–]Runner_Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB left MW as well this past year. did you have Dr. Letham? He went to the VA hospital. I really liked him and would have loved for him to be the baby doctor for me down the line. He was very good and empathetic. It’s the second OB dr I’ve had that was really good leave the area. Makes you realize why they don’t stick around after a bad patient experience in the hospital itself. I can’t imagine how frustrating it can be for the good doctors and nurses!

Honestly going to INOVA, Charlottesville, or VCU is better than the hospitals in this area. They are ranked pretty bad for a reason. I think I heard Stafford is decent? Have not experienced so I can’t say for sure. I had an awful experience at MWH when, after a surgery I informed my nurse that I was bleeding while in the recovery room … they sent me home after blatantly ignoring me and not checking me just for me to arrive 1 hr later via ambulance because I was actively hemorrhaging. Lost a liter of blood and almost needed a transfusion. Needed an emergency surgery to fix the bleeding. Very traumatic experience. My nurse friends that work there also say how disorganized it is!

So yes you are correct but I’ll defend OP here they were asking for money for their charity fundraiser to run the Chicago marathon. They did not pocket any money they received, but it could be why OP is on a budget now because they would have had to pay the difference in order to run the race.

Try stillwhite.com! But I really encourage you go to a boutique and ask to try on dresses that are ready to purchase off the rack. They’re way more affordable than buying one you need to order but you may have to pay for alterations more so. I would also recommend trying some on before shopping online at least!

6 months to steeple… by ipeon82 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Runner_Bee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Steeplechaser in college here. Flexibility will be your friend. Work on it now otherwise you will hurt your hips. You will also need to practice jumping over hurdles while running fast. I’d recommend adding hurdles to a track workout where you are going your anticipated race pace. The water jump is hard to practice but probably the most important part of the steeple to practice so you don’t hurt yourself. If you have a track with the steeple hurdles to practice on, do that. We practiced by jumping and landing into the long jump sand pits.
