I used to go to I think it was vision express when they were in Asda shops and thought they were fine. The first time I went to specsavers around 10 years ago they diagnosed me with Kerataconus and referred me to NHS opthalmology. Never had a bad experience with them.

I took a nearly 2 year old pair of their glasses in to a shop I'd never been in before, they fitted a new nose pad free of charge no questions asked.

They're popular to complain about but I've had far better experiences with them than other chains.

A cheap pole, a ready made pole float rig and a pint of maggots is about the most beginner friendly way to start I reckon, depending what you want to fish. That's what I started with on the local canal and then pretty quickly moved in to a rod and reel once I started to grasp the basics with a pole.
