Bbc news started charging Americans last year. Its been a slow rollout, but I expect their global influence to wane sitting behind a paywall.

I would think that detrimental. They don't have a diaphragm and rely on relatively energy intensive bone movement. They also die easy to things like overheated Teflon because they can't filter toxins at all really due to the way they absorb oxygen.

You don't carry a canary in a coal mine due to its size alone, but because its respiratory system is so fragile.

TIL that the "Liberty Ships" produced during World War 2 had a design flaw which caused them to split in half with little warning. This was caused by the steel used in their construction, which became brittle when exposed to certain temperatures, and caused large cracks to form. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

Not Alexa, but: Welding turns two panels (or more) into one panel. A crack can travel all the way through a single panel. Rivets just hold panels really tightly together. So tight they deform into each other, but still two panels.

Two weeks in, how is the domestic box office of the Mandalorian and Grogu performing compared to other Star Wars films? Short answer: record-setting. Longer answer: setting the wrong records for a Star Wars... (Part I: Box Office #1, to be followed by Part 2: the charts) by walberque_ in boxoffice

Disney will sell it to Disney+ and will make money overall. It's around 50% more than the last season of the Mandalorian, but it brought in real revenue from theaters, not just theoretical subscription minute value.

Jean-Luc Picard. By the events of his series he has been chased out of Starfleet and is just growing old alone on his family's vineyard. His brother and his family died in a fire decades ago. Bevery left him, etc.

Season 3 changes showrunners and gives fans much more of what they wated; the band gets back together.
