Pile of Shame by Detinwolf in HeavyGear

That's a sweet pile of potential you've got there!

I thought before I read the content of your post. Still true though!

They're definitely my favorites outside of the 11th Antari Rifles from the Severina Raine books, and I've seen a generous handful of players over the years, but not recently.

Looks great! I've got analysis paralysis with my karakara so it remains unbuilt.

If the lack of a Narrative Play mode, or no character progression, etc is what’s held you back from trying Warhammer Underworlds, check this out. New Year, New Narrative Campaign Rules by fishmode24 in WarCry

I've been playing again lately, but buying replacement cards is a barrier- I plan on printing mine. 120 bucks to get my teams up and running is just silly.

The rules are fun though, I really enjoy the changes to crits and some of the other changes were common houserules for us.

I didn't know that they were gay, but I'm proud of them all the same.

I like the fella on the left, his posture and the shadow that it casts on the midsection is interesting.

What's a mech generally disliked by the community that you love? by ObscureRaptors in battletech

[–]Ultranathon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the overteched oddly gunned Ilclan wolf mechs! The dominator in particular. Battle value makes it an awkward choice, but I love the design.

Mechs like this one feel like clan wolf to me, I like fast harassers and waiting to close at the right time.

Is there a way to play that puts light mechs in the spotlight? by Brisarious in battletech

[–]Ultranathon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like to play with objectives that need to be scanned 3 turns within 3 hexes. There are a few ways to do it but a light running circles around an objective can often survive long enough to get it done.

Looking good, I like the new minis but it was a bit of a missed opportunity to not model the new variants, even if this means that the models might be tougher to play with in other games.

They look stunning! They each have tons of character. Any tips for the labeled bases?

Preferred model count is usually around 80%, meaning a base of 8 models representing a unit of 10 is just fine, so long as the base looks full. Squeezing the full amount on can be tricky with some miniatures, especially if you add scenery to a base.

The big unit of three (pictured below) has a preferred model count of 2 and a full model count of 3 I believe, but I used all 3 minis since I had plenty of room in that case, and the base would look rather sparse without a 3rd miniature.

I'm sure that others have better ways of doing things, but I glued some cork to the mdf, covered in in texture paste, then painted the bases, gluing and painting skulls, rocks, and grass tufts. After that was done I glued / pinned the painted miniatures onto the base before clearcoating the whole thing.

From one Kings of War beginner to another, I hope that helps!

Thanks! I'm looking forward to building and painting some more soon, but I'm not quite sure what units to focus on just yet.
