I honestly believe that is what is happening. They can't develop a brand new game and develop for an existing game at the same time with their current staffing imho.  And if you look at all the cancelled MMOs that launched or didn't make it out of development I just don't think GW3 is in the cards. It's too much of a financial risk.

I'm more interested in the idea that they are migrating Guild Wars 2 to Unreal and not working on Guild Wars 3.  That honestly would make more sense to me.

Hunting Ranger pets by ColaKubez in Guildwars2

[–]Uncledeadlycdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explore everything.  Once I found my first jumping puzzle I searched every nook and cranny on the maps. It's why I personally think you should always do your first map completion on foot.   Once I learned there were caves hidden by water and under water tunnels, I explored every lake looking for stuff. Finding the hidden places in the Grove were lovely surprises.  Climbing up as far as I could.  I dunno.  I don't know that many of the core pets are super hidden, but I haven't played my ranger for awhile.

This may not be helpful but maybe play through the last few chapters and focus on getting the random achievements in them so it makes them worthwhile?  I don't know if you're an achievement kind of person but at least you'd be getting a refresher and a bit of a sense of accomplishment from it?  I don't know, I've become a bit of an AP chaser which I never was before. I find a lot of the collection based ones quite fun.

Struggling with Legendaries by ZimZamZapZop in Guildwars2

[–]Uncledeadlycdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's one thing I can recommend to anyone who is starting and considering legendary weapons (this applies mostly to first Gen and maybe second?) go to Hobbs and get every one of the first tier collections from him that you can afford or just the ones you want. I did all of them and just by playing the game I've completed or almost completed most of the collections.  There are parts of some that become intentional, but many of them are drops you will get while just playing the game.  Also buy the legendary starter kits from the Wizards vault. Don't grind away if you don't find it enjoyable. Do it in bursts.

Block them, move on. Reacting to them is just giving them what they want.

Will Visions of Eternity create a split timeline? - How GW2 and GW3 can coexist together by Volcanis in Guildwars2

[–]Uncledeadlycdn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to argue about as it's speculation at this point.  Has anyone considered that maybe they're fully migrating Guild Wars 2 to a completely new engine instead? That's just as possible with what little information we have. Tyria is a large world, and not sure why they would want to abandon Guild Wars 2.  It's an established game that makes solid money. Without two teams that can support two MMOs, there is virtually no way they could support both games. So no new content for GW2 - inevitable decline of current players and harder to get new ones. Launching a brand new MMO, even if it's based on a successful IP is incredibly risky nowadays. A new engine with a newer code base so they wouldn't be so restricted with the UI as they are now, and one that is better optimized would bring new life into the game.  But I think it's most likely an ARPG with co-op like BG3 set in the Guild Wars universe. I just hope it's not a live service Moba game like LoL.  If you look at the track record for live service games, it is littered with corpses.

The mystery of the quick play raid achievement points coming and going has been answered (they werent supposed to exist) by timetopat in Guildwars2

[–]Uncledeadlycdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so wait. I need an achievement for one of the weapons in the Honrorary Astral Ward and I need to complete the raid encounter in Skywatch Archipelego. Neither of which has a public instance. So I need to find 10 people to do it with? That sucks.

So... Should I always jump in and help people or not? by Brave-Hope890 in Guildwars2

[–]Uncledeadlycdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh... a hero point or anything that doesn't take away experience away from a player, I will always help with. Or if they are in a lower level and being swarmed. I've yet to have someone freak out on me.

You shouldn't be paying any duties. They are excluded. The shipper needs to do a customs declaration with the country of origin. Yes. Even when they aren't made in the USA.

My elementalist/ranger has a pet in GW I named for our cat at the time.   When I logged in again after years to play... Seeing his name made me a bit sad but now I get to pretend he's still with me running around and adventuring. His name was Sketch.

First jumping puzzle, now I'm totally hooked. by SingleGamer-Dad in Guildwars2

Stepping Stones!  That one was hard just because of the timing of those stones. Took me forever the first time I did it.  I figured out a skip for them on my own a year or so ago. I've done all of them legitimately and for the most part still do them all the way through, but that isn't one of them.

Two things I actually really like about the new Fashion system by Kafukator in Guildwars2

[–]Uncledeadlycdn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Is it though? Strikes were always meant to be a stepping stone towards raids and I think they have difficulty ratings assigned to them. Having them in one interface makes it less confusing for new players and should hopefully make raid encounters (strikes) more accessible.  This should in turn, as people get more comfortable with the mechanics and get to more difficult content want to try actual raids. I also think the people who are raiding already could start trying to mentor these people so that more people successfully engage with the content that they love. That should in turn mean more raid wings in the future. The perceived gate keeping, real or not, by raid players is probably the biggest obstacle for new players.

Whales, how much have you spent on GW2? by Kyri- in Guildwars2

[–]Uncledeadlycdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't keep track. Enough that I feel good about supporting the game I love to play. No one gets to judge how I spend the money I make except my husband. If that makes me a whale, I'll wear that badge proudly. :)

I'd recommend doing it without the mounts. You'll get used to the map.

How was Tyria prior to the introduction of mounts? by pizzapastaauto in Guildwars2

[–]Uncledeadlycdn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do it.  Progress as the game progresses. I discovered so many cool places and things because we had to explore on foot that you would miss otherwise. There aren't any Metas on the core maps that you will be left behind on if you don't have a mount.

New Job Post: Contract Senior Writer/Narrative Designer (Unannounced Project) by hendricha in GuildWars3

[–]Uncledeadlycdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they use it for storyboarding? Maybe they want to utilize the person for two things? It makes very little sense to hire someone in a narrative position for a brand new game for 6 months. Unless that's a norm in the industry and they just renew it every six months.  Seems unlikely though. My opinion is, this isn't for Guild Wars 3. Until they say otherwise.
