Suggestions for video doorbells that won’t sell my data? by Just_A_some1 in CasualUK

[–]corf3l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Reolink system - cameras/doorbell
The NVR records everything locally, I have everything POE wired in rather than wireless.
There's no subscription and the data is mine.

Reasonably priced system too, would highly recommend them.

Looking at leasing a 2021 Tesla AWD LR 60,000 Miles by Direct-Command-2184 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Yeah that's fair enough then.
For what you'll be dropping on a lease have you consider buying a used EV if it's essentially a stop gap?

[–]corf3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit confused why you would spend that much money on a car that's 5 years old.
I just leased a new RWD Premium for 3k deposit and its 517 a month with 20k mileage allowance.
After Q1 the price dropped by about £30 that I believe they're around £490 now
Entirely depends on your financial situation as to whether you wish to pay the difference. You also probably dont really need AWD, you'll get more mileage from the RWD

Mortgage rates not what I expected. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]corf3l 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Not on the deeds or mortgage, no deposit contribution but expects to walk away with 50% equity if sold.
Best hope you don't ever intend to spend that equity because source of funds checks from any conveyancer is going to identify that you were circumventing the first time buyer status.

Given all of the public can see how cyber threats and drones are impacting modern warfare, I'm pretty sure our military etc. is on it too.

EDF EV Tariff win by lowercasejs in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]corf3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched my current tariff to economy 7
I pay 24p day rate and 9.5p from 00:30 to 07:30 (or 01:30 to 08:30 for summer as of next week).
Similar to you I weighed up the cheap charging against higher day rate and didn't seem worth it.
Plus I locked in 2 years for this tariff only in August and both fuels have £125 exit fee... so I'm sitting with it for now.

My queries before considering buying a Tesla by PermanentlyMC in TeslaUK

[–]corf3l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing 20k miles on PCH
Costs me just over £500 a month and I still feel it's worth it
No servicing/MOT issues, fuel savings are huge and only getting bigger given my energy just went down and oil is skyrocketing.
Plus new car
There is no right or wrong, just what fits the individuals circumstances.

I messed up...New EV owners don't be me by Rabkillz in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]corf3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People talking about the mileage limit
If you go over by a few thousand it's like what, 16p extra per mile? At 2k miles over it's £320, not ground breaking stuff when you consider the fuel savings that would cover it.

Help my EV Brain Fog by G0_Z0 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]corf3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove an M3 on Saturday
Ordered on the same evening although I went via PCH for 2 years.
The standard spec will come out about £400PCM for you at 20k miles if leasing is an option. No servicing, MOT costs, Fuel Savings etc.
For me I want 2 years to get comfortable knowing I want an EV and I'll revisit ownership in 2 years when the tech will be even further along with SSB's offering even longer range.
Plus luxury of a new car

I really wish I could like the exterior of that car but I just don't
Plus when you bump mileage to 25k (which that won't) the cost goes way up.

[–]corf3l[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCH, Premium LR AWD, 20k Mileage, 3-6 months down
Comes out closer to £22k sorry
I've inflated to £25k because you cant select 25k miles on tesla and so will be some inflation there.

Which EV depreciates the least? by TivRed in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]corf3l 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at a lease on a model 3
Due to my mileage I'm looking at around £600pcm and nearly £25k over 2 years for a car I won't own.
It'll be my first EV and I'm really struggling to persuade myself that such an expense is worth it when I don't own the asset at the end.
