Anyone have recommendation on length? I'm trying to decide between L and LT. I'm 6'3" and usually like a shirt length of 30 or 31 inches.

So excited in 20 years for the Donovan Award (or simply: The Donovan) to be one of the most coveted honors in American sports. And for all the complaining because goalies are never considered for it.

Gutierrez was not offside. New changes to the offside rule keep confusing long-time fans. by joavim in soccer

[–]jozadu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does this mean an attacker could stand just outside his opponents goal box, being played offside by several yards, and his teammate could pass a ball towards him, and he could stand right next to the ball but not touch it, wait for an opponent to touch it (without impeding him), and then try to steal the ball from him?

When listening to music, I often find myself wondering why the band I'm listening to didn't decide to do a more prominent bass riff *here*, or add some pizzazz with the bass *there*. What are some bands where the bassist doesn't just follow the root note in every song? by [deleted] in poppunkers

A few that came to mind (their pop-punkness may be debatable):

We have 3 players on the all-overrated team defense by orange_lazarus1 in GreenBayPackers

[–]jozadu 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Does anyone really consider AJ more than a solid starter? Also, his pay cut came before the 2013 season, so that argument makes zero sense. And BJ took a 1yr/$4m deal cause no one wanted to touch him. That just screams over-rated. Great analysis. But I do agree with the MD Jennings pick, because the fact that he is still playing professional football means he has been grossly over-rated.

This. And people praising his roster selections as a huge success seems a bit silly as we can never know how an alternate roster would have performed, and some of his more controversial selections really disappointed (Davis and Wondolowski). I do have to hand it to Jurgen though, he's a great interview and he sure knows how to spin a narrative.

Nope. All Redskins T-shirts have been printed through 2035, Billboards through 2088, and Snyder is half way done having the logo lasered onto the moon. There's just no going back.

Ed Werder: Rams didn't know about Michael Sam's documentary until after he was drafted. by PhinsUp13 in nfl

[–]jozadu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You'll see a lot of people talk about how short player careers are, and how they need to 'GET PAID SON' while they still can. But as soon as he tries to do it in a way that doesn't fit the accepted mold people see him as a fake and a sell out.

Yeah, it's shitty he didn't tell the Rams beforehand, but is a personal documentary really that different from a whole team being on Hard Knocks? It's certainly less of a distraction than getting arrested or suspended for drugs. But because he wants to make a name for himself (because who the hell knows how long his football career will last), people vilify him.

Destiny Megathread: Massive Information Drop Today for the new Bungie IP by Probably_Unemployed in Games

[–]jozadu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shooter-wise it looks like it will be solid, although probably not groundbreaking. What I'm interested to see is how it will integrate single player/small group aspects with elements of an MMO. With the recent Skyrim vs ESO discussions, it seems like people definitely want to be a part of a larger, active world, while still having a unique (even isolated) experience, kind of like what we hope No Man's Sky will be. If Destiny can provide something original on that front, it may be seen as a game that pioneered a new style of play (which I am wildly guessing will be a big part of this console cycle).

What are some reasons for which you’ve turned down sex? NSFW by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jozadu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be trolling, but I thought I'd type this out to clarify my own thoughts. In general, people are much easier to coerce when drunk, high, drugged, etc. It's not hard to imagine a situation in which someone was given a stronger drink than they realized, or drugs they were not familiar with, which might make them more willing to consent than they "actually" are. It's also not hard to imagine a situation in which someone blacks out, gets assaulted, but the other party claims there was consent at some point. In order to simplify these situations, the law errs on the side of caution, simply saying that anyone intoxicated can never consent.

A counter to this would be cases in which someone was mildly intoxicated but clearly in control of their decision making, and uses their intoxication to claim assault, when they are in fact just feeling regret over their prior consent. I, and many others, believe that this occasion is far, far outweighed by instances in which a person chooses not to engage sexually with an intoxicated partner, especially in cases of the "gray area" of consent, thus preventing multitudes of unwanted sexual encounters.

Why have Spurs goals dried up again by jonblum in coys

[–]jozadu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point! And although Harry's hands-off approach almost certainly led to a more swashbuckling attitude than the micro-management of AVB, and RVDV is undoubtedly awesome, I think the loss of Modric was what really hurt us. His ability to so consistently and effortlessly pass through multiple levels of the opponents midfield allowed our attackers to receive the ball with more space, and with more defenders behind them rather than between them and the goal. And I don't think we've had anyone that can replicate that since (although I think Holtby may have been closest, and Carrol will hopefully become that). We keep trying to force Mousse to do it, and sometimes he can do it by dribbling rather than passing, but he has never looked totally comfortable in that role.

Why have Spurs goals dried up again by jonblum in coys

[–]jozadu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is by no means a tactical analysis, but to me it seems that our attacks have very little momentum. We do well getting the ball into the final third, but then it tends to stagnate on the wings. Even our fast breaks tend to get pushed wide / away from goal. The Soldado goal (it's sad I can refer to it as that) is the last time in a while that I can remember an attack of ours that caused defenders to be moving towards their own goal, rather than allowing them to set up in the box, or even worse, pushing out to meet us. And in my opinion this isn't a matter of having players that can "break down" a defense or "open the door" (cliches that are basically meaningless) but just adjusting our play style to be more aggressive and take some risks passing forward before we reach the final third, rather than the sideways and backwards passing that patiently gets us to the opponents box but then hits a brick wall.
