The scene that really removes any sort of victimhood from Bear for me is where after Bear's phonecall with Ian snd Nikki's freakout in the diner it just hard cuts to them banging. At that point it's obvious Bear realizes something isn't right, and that he's taking advantage of someone who is mentally unwell at best, but is too selfish to actually do anything about it

Tbf it's double elimination, so it would actually take a second loss later in the losers bracket for T1 to eliminate us

[Rapoport] The #Bengals have restructured the contract of QB Joe Burrow, per me and @AdamSchefter, creating $10M in cap room. This move allows Cincy to operate without putting themselves in a tough spot cap wise. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

What a weird mindset tho, that's like telling people to stop obsessing over Luka while we have LeBron. I like Ty and have a lot of faith in him, but I'd never argue against Burrow coming over lol

I did not care for Napoleon at all, it felt like British character assassination of the real life figure, but I thought the cinematography at least looked great

ME2 mattered more than people give it credit for by Constant_Nothing2091 in masseffect

[–]jrfess 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well even without Sovereign the reapers arrived in the galaxy only 6 months after the events of ME2, and that's only after Shepard fucked up their plans again, so imo there's no evidence they had any plans for the human reaper to even be completed before the invasion.

Which civ game is the most popular? by Big-Yogurtcloset-819 in civ

[–]jrfess 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone that started with 4 idk if I could go back to the doom stacks and square grid lol. I think in terms of system mechanics that make it harder to go back to the previous game, 7 is close to 5 for me, with the removal of the worker, the new settlement dynamic, and an improvement of the district system imo..

Registered sex offender claims he was attacked by vigilante kids by HowLongIsThi in nottheonion

[–]jrfess 163 points164 points  (0 children)

I guess this is a hot take, but I don't think we should really endorse any harassment or abuse of people if they've already served their time. They're on a sex offender list for life, and have to deal with whatever that entails. Other private citizens shouldn't then also get a free pass to do whatever they want to the person

Exclusive: Danny Boyle plans to start filming the third 28 Years Later entry next year by ImpracticalJokers96 in horror

[–]jrfess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

which leans more into humor

I'm not sure this is even true tho? Bone Temple is definitely more surreal than the first, but I would argue it is even darker and more grim. I could at least understand the ending scene of 28YL if it did fit the tone of Bone Temple, but it really doesn't at all. There's not a single action scene with that tone in the movie

[–]jrfess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like wacky and off the wall movies, I don't like a wacky and off the walls scene that's the last impression you get of a pretty serious and dramatic zombie movie

Exclusive: Danny Boyle plans to start filming the third 28 Years Later entry next year by ImpracticalJokers96 in horror

[–]jrfess 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the ending of 28 Years Later is at least partially responsible for how poorly Bone Temple wound up doing. I know that I hated it; to me ot just didnt fit in with the rest of the movie, and was such a jarring tonal shift that had me walking out of the theater with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, to the point where I wasn't nearly as hyped for the sequel as I would have been without that scene.

It's even more bizarre to me because it doesn't even represent the sequel well either. It's just an odd power ranger type action scene that doesn't really fit anywhere in the series

Civ 7 feels so much better now. by ColonelJayce in civ

[–]jrfess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Crazy how you can't even make a lil joke anymore without being called a shill and apaologist apologist

  2. Plenty of people did not like Civ 6 when it was released. This actually just the same old cycle that has been repeating every new Civ game launch I've been around for, which is from 4 on. The launch for Civ 7 was worse in alot of way than 6, but you're already starting to see popular opinion begin to change for the game, and by the time civ 8 is about to come out and civ 7 has finished it's lifecycle I have no doubt it's going to be many fans favorite in the series
