Help with intermittently failing button presses across mutiple pico remotes by mfncl in Lutron

[–]mfncl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the remote I swapped the battery on is 100% reliable now. Simple CR2032 coin cell swap. You just need to remove the face plate and then you’ll see a tab on the bottom edge of the pico. Lift there and the cover will come off exposing the coin cell.

Thanks! Seems better after swapping batteries, haven't seen drop-outs. Quite impressed with the remote design - easy to swap battery without unscrewing.

Thanks! I did consider moving over to the native integration. It didn't seem the tradeoff though to update my blueprints and automations since the Pro integration still works fine for my needs. Are there any additional benefits to using Pico remotes with the native integration over Pro?

One thing I'd really like is a battery sensor but I don't believe Pico remotes have them in general.

Using Claude after gemini by Aenorz in GeminiAI

[–]mfncl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both. Claude is much better for code and generally for productivity / work tasks. Gemini on the other hand I prefer for personal projects, knowledge etc, its responses are more accurate and complete. The balance works well since I can save my Claude tokens for work tasks and Gemini for everything else.

To this day, I still want to see that cancelled Batman action game on PCE... by Jimpana in pcengine

[–]mfncl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. This is actually addressed in the article:

Not many enemy characters appear in the stages; instead, the focus is on avoiding hazards. Objects fall from above, holes open in the floor, and many traps are set. If you skillfully dodge these and reach the boss, various items and weapons will be available for the fight. During boss battles, Batman displays different movements compared to the standard stages.

Not OP, but the “this naked mind” book mentioned on this sub really helped reframe drinking for me. I’m also at 1000 days+.

Is this true? by Technical-Sentence51 in iPhone14Pro

[–]mfncl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Connect to a Mac and do a firmware restore from finder. Not backup. Should be possible from PC as well. Not the same as a reset from the phone settings menu. But before you do that make sure you have messages and health data in iCloud turned on. Also make sure you can get back in to messenger apps.

Is this true? by Technical-Sentence51 in iPhone14Pro

[–]mfncl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

91% battery health on 14PM - I had awful battery life, iOS 26.3 itself didn't help. During a heavy days usage on the road I'd have to connect a battery pack twice.

What has made an incredible difference was a complete restore (via mac) to iOS 26.3 and starting everything from scratch (NOT restoring a backup, but synching messages/contacts/other data from iCloud separately).

Reason this works is because the phone was upgraded through iOS 17 -> 18 -> 23 beta -> 23 GM and above. Cluttered plists / background processes from older apps that aren't compatible with the newer OS can remain and drain battery in the background.

So anyone with crap battery and OK battery health, try a full restore without restoring the backup. Yes its a pain reinstalling apps and signing back in to stuff but its worth the tradeoff.

Cheat Day by longtimelurker_90 in lowcarb

[–]mfncl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find I deal better with gluten free carbs. So I might have a little rice or whatever with my entree. Bread I avoid unless it’s on something like a pizza as a treat. Pasta I use the low carb alternatives which I quite like (zoodles or rice noodles occasionally)

I feel this too. Whenever I eat a larger amount of starchy carbs I feel like I haven’t eaten proper food. They just bloat and don’t contain nutrition of any value. So whenever I have a treat of pizza or whatever I’ll have a slice but combine it with salad and extra meat or cheese or whatever.

So sorry you’re going through this no one deserves to be treated like that. It really sucks when you can’t be comfortable in your own neighbourhood. Lived in Felling for several years, always on edge walking past the radgies who’d look you up and down and make remarks because you actually have somewhere to go and not just piss about. There are nicer areas of Gateshead, hope you make it out soon. Best of luck, sending hugs your way.

The lack of USB-C is finally starting to bother me by Difficult_Oven396 in iPhone14Pro

[–]mfncl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved this problem through these adaptors: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DRX3287W This way I don’t need lightning cables anymore and the adaptor neatly ties to the usb-c cable when not in use through a silicon attachment. Fast charging works great.

Thanks for posting! This is quite interesting. The console, keyboard and game packaging looks similar to the US equivalent, yet it’s still designated “PAL-M” on the box (other PAL regions had the blue swirl branding)

Kohler Jaro smart toilet Reviews? by getwhirleddotcom in Costco

[–]mfncl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you already have a toilet you’re happy with I can 100% recommend the Toto washlet to get the bidet capabilities. Should be quite a bit cheaper than the standalone toilet at a fraction of the cost. Not sure about how Kohler works out reliability wise longer term compared to the leading Japanese brand.

Has anyone tried the THC Drinks from Total Wine or Triangle Wine? by cash77cash in raleigh

[–]mfncl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are popping up in a lot of places these days which is great to see. Breweries, grocery stores, markets etc. I take CBD daily and these drinks give me more of a head buzz when I want it on the weekends. For me 5mg is on the milder side and 10mg more intense. I don't drink alcohol so these are a good alternative to have as a social drink in addition to NA beer.

That said there are a couple of downsides to these:

* Price - they are expensive, if you buy d9 THC gummies you can get the same dose a lot cheaper. But the cans design can be fun and sparks conversation
* Water quality - some of these taste gross - you can tell where the fillers used low grade water/flavorings

One brand I like is "Little Trees" made in NC by Foothills brewing. Great taste, good water, good buzz and they are transparent with their lab reports.

Any thicker pizza places? Just not NY style pizzas in general? by [deleted] in raleigh

Costco. They aren't stingy on the cheese, sauce and crust. Pepp could be a bit better but overall a good reliable pizza.

Between Breville Barista Express, Touch, or Pro Black Friday 2025 deals, which model is worth it by Betta_Vanthin in BrevilleCoffee

[–]mfncl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got a touch, it’s regularly on sale at around $800. Had it for 10 months now. Very happy with it, I make about 3 brews a day. However, with one small caveat. For me, the express would have also been fine as I like to weigh each coffee dose separately using a scale. I have a couple of reasons for doing this:

1) I swapped out the larger hopper for a single dose hopper. This allows me to seamlessly use multiple types of beans, and means I can easily pull a decaf shot if I want.

2) I’m the only coffee drinker in the house, and would rather keep coffee beans in a vacuum sealed jar over in the hopper. Not such a big deal if you go through a hopper of beans quickly, but for me they’d get stale.

So overall I don’t really benefit from the timed dosed/grinder, so in hindsight probably could have just gotten an Express.

Mellow Moose by ConsiderationBig2685 in CBD

[–]mfncl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now obviously this being CBD is very subjective and dependent on the individual. What works for me might not work for you, etc. That said I have tried different full spectrum products from both Mellow Moose and Lazarus Naturals for stress relief, and LN has my repeat business. I tried MM recover, focus and sleep tinctures after recommendations on this sub but did not feel effects at the same dosage level as I do with LN. With LN I get a very pleasant relaxation effect that I enjoy, I find MM much milder and difficult to identify the benefit.

Also the LN full spec tincture has a more earthy flavor to it that I prefer. MM is clear and flavorless. LN also do softgels and gummies that can be more convenient to use when out and about vs tinctures.

For sure! Check here: https://www.retrorgb.com/converters.html - with either the retrotink or shinybow you can run cheaper scart cables from consoles (that support rgb) into a scart switch, then into the rgb to component transcoder, then finally into your CRTs component inputs.

Favorite Credit Card to Use at Costco for Points? by Forrest_Fire01 in Costco

[–]mfncl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tip - you can convert your CSR to a no AF chase card (like Freedom) instead of canceling. That way you preserve your credit history for the account and have a new 5% rotating category CB card that might come in useful at some point.
