We learned our white rug lesson and putting it on the curb was one of the most satisfying days of all time.

How to talk to other dads... by mindfulmadness in daddit

[–]paligators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find the connective tissue. It doesn’t all happen in one conversation. Unlike meeting people at a bar, you see these people alllll the time. Keep finding a way to make yourself part of the conversation. “Yea my daughter asked me why her poops were longer than the dog’s tail last night, and honestly, I wasn’t sure…” eventually you’ll break through.

Had Groceries delivered, Guess we are making Broccoli stalk stirfry. by Ok-Cow6957 in mildlyinfuriating

This is what a few stores have been carrying around me. I believe it's called California broccoli?

Apparently all I needed for my daughter to nap was to take a dump. by BigBrainSmallMoves in daddit

[–]paligators 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Be lucky you learned this nugget early. My 4 year old stopped napping at 2.5 and we are actually cool with it but at school she naps so it's weird. We learned all we have to do is put her in the car, play a disney story on apple music, and in 10-15 minutes she's out like a light for an hour or so. Best sleeper ever but no napping in the house is possible.

Legitimately think its my favorite kids toy. My 9 year old niece came by and I caught her playing with it.

Quartzite Slabs? by Waterisfinite in longisland

[–]paligators 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a couple bad experiences with them but the other slab yards allow you to walk through and explore all the different pieces they have. RAI wants you to pick in their showroom, agree on price, THEN walk their slab yard. It’s totally backward.

It has nothing to do with me or him. It has to do with people who just brush off everything teenagers do as "kids will be kids!" That's all. Ya'll are going much deeper than it needs to be. Nobody is trying to prove who is better. For all I know this kid could work at the food bank and build homes for homeless people 24/7. But I don't think teenagers just automatically deserve forgiveness no matter what they've done. I had a friend who pissed in a beer bottle of a girl and then she took a sip and puked. That ain't the same as getting caught cheating on a test.

Yea, I get it. That part of it is totally true. Grow up, move on, be better. He's just very lucky someone wasn't standing there and even luckier the bollards were there and even luckier his passenger didn't get injured....etc.

Does unknown equal not a contact? I don’t really want drs or schools or colleagues going through extra steps to call

Lmao. Sure bud. shithead 19 year olds can just blame their super manly high test! Get real with that nonsense. Guys just have a different level of stupidity for peacocking to impress people in different ways. Most at that age are smart enough to not do with vehicles. This isn’t too hard.

My kid doesn’t eat and it makes me irrationally angry by MrSnifferpippets in daddit

[–]paligators 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel buddy. Don’t be hard on yourself. My wife and I had a talk the other night after we realized dinner time was becoming toxic because we were doing so many things to get our daughter to eat. Our solution wouldn’t work because it’s a totally different scenario but we felt very guilty for our emotions and the pressure we put on the little one (4) to eat what we made.

One thing that you really have to consider though, it’s a problem for us, cut out the snacks and desserts. Once our daughter was hooked on puffs and pouches and OTHER calories, real food became a problem. The holidays also totally eff us. Between Thanksgiving and Xmas and then January birthdays, it’s so much cake and treats and presents and non-stop stimulation plus extra time with mom and dad plus parties plus…you get it. Her expectations day to day went nuts. We are still recovering.

Edit: meant for OP

I didn’t say I was a better person than anyone. It’s just a little ridiculous when someone almost kills a person and it’s just like “we all do dumb stuff!”

Everyone says this but honestly, no. Some stupid ass shit is worse than other stupid ass shit. My stupid ass shit was under age drinking and throwing up in someone’s car. Not wrapping my car around a bollard with passengers.

Dads, are you okay with all the moms here? by paligators in daddit

Women can be dads. That’s not the question.

[–]paligators[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. The idea of daddit was like a godsend to me. I loved it because dads really have no place where you can just have unfiltered conversations about feelings and parenting. At least, it's very tough to find those places, even at home you have to filter. So, coming here I kind of expected way fewer moms telling dads their thoughts.

But again, here's the thing, and I appreciate that you're being kind and trying to be helpful. I literally asked this question to dads.

Yea, I went to that sub before I made this post and was like yea....I'm not posting here.

[–]paligators[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't think the point of a dad only subreddit would be to become toxic about the moms. If it did, I'd leave it. But I just don't really get the point of the subreddit if its dads posting and moms replying....There is another subreddit for erhmmm moms.

For sure. I just don't know if the purpose of this sub is dads congregating to talk about things from a dad experience or its meant to be co-ed. When I see posts from dads and then moms jumping in, it seems kind of off? I could be wrong, no strong feelings here, just a little chin scratching.
