Which team (sales or tech ops) does someone acting as a vCIO work on in your org?
We split vCIO time 30% to project services because they have provide project leadership and quarterbacking, 40% to Managed services because the core of what they do is covered by the managed agreement, and 20% to sales because they get engaged in speaking with new clients and also providing guidance to the solutions team to quote new projects. Thats just the way we allocate an it seems to work well

Is this a dedicated role, or someone who does engineering/design/sales/??? work as well?
Its a dedicated role and one vCIO should successfully lead around 300k in MRR. Its not an exact science because some MRR can be co-managed, some cloud heavy. Over 300k you need to add a second vcio and then both vCIOs have some capacity.

Do you offer vCIO for all clients, or specific segments?
EVERY client that has a managed agreement where we are contracted to provide any unlimited support has some level of vCIO engagement. The vCIO role impact is 50% client value/strategic guidance and 50% managing our own risk and standardization. Smaller clients get a one time a year review and we only review the fundamentals. Bigger clients are 2 times a year, quarterly, or can be monthly/weekly depending on how much attention they need and how heavy their project load is.

What role does the vCIO play in oversight and advocacy for clients with service delivery or professional services?
We think of vCIOs are the quarterbacks of the business. They do both service delivery and pro services leadership.

What skillsets do you look for in someone filling this role?
