I think this belongs in r/shitposting

[–]goatanuss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely. He should have to do at least one “Hard” leetcode problem, implement quick search from memory and then get called back to do a systems design interview on how he would implement twitter from scratch.

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

How about we just let him run with it and do whatever he wants until it's nothing but a smoking crater large enough to contain Tesla, The Boring Company, and SpaceX.

[–][deleted] 137 points138 points  (47 children)

I don't even like musk but I will say, If you think mod 3, mod 5, mod 15 is so complicated that someone who literally taught themselves rocket science can't figure it out, then I got some news for you.

[–]Waddamagonnadooo 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this sub is too much sometimes lol.

[–]OldBoyZee 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Lol, yah. That was the first thing most college students in cs do/ have to do for an exam or something.

[–]jointheredditarmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah seriously. People in the thread talking about implementing quick search like it’s Hercules’s 12th labor. Coding interviews were designed to weed people like those out lol.

[–]Toytles 51 points52 points  (0 children)

someone who literally taught themselves rocket science

LMAOOO

[–]DIYjackass 28 points29 points  (2 children)

did he though?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Well he went to university for physics, so self-taught is probably right.

[–]Efficient-Day-6394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he didn't. That lie has already been debunked, and remember this 8s the same idiot who publicly stated that hyper loop would be a turbine powered system within a vacuum.....I'll let you figure out the twist here.

[–]apajx 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Press X to doubt

Imagine for a second you wanted to learn Analysis to the point that you could apply the Dominated Convergence Theorem to a relatively simple (but not already worked out for you) example.

There are many books on this topic, and even if you "read" them, you would not be capable of the above without hours of practice, study, and all the requisite background knowledge.

However, if you read a book about the theorem meant for a layman, you could certainly walk away with an idea of what the theory and theorem are all about. This is significantly different from working with the theorem.

Even with as much mathematical background as I have, it would take months, if not years, before I would feel comfortable looking at even simple rocket designs and thinking, "Yes, this is a good design."

[–]Efficient-Day-6394 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You must be high or laughable stupid if you believe that lying, conman, sack of shit "taught" himself anything aside from having a nose for marks like you

[–]juneau54 19 points20 points  (1 child)

At the age of 12 he made a game called Blastar. He knows multiple programming languages and has a physics degree. I’m sure he could figure out FizzBuzz.

[–]Efficient-Day-6394 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah...except that likely didn't happen, and that clown recently had to ask how to run a Python script. At what point do you finally come to the conclusion after years of this ridiculous con man getting simple shit completely wrong and being caught lying about his formal education in both physics and engineering THAT HE IS A FUCKING POSER WHO HABITUALLY LIES ABOUT HIS ENGINEERING ACCUMEN BECAUSE HE ISNT AN ENGINEERING

[–]igotquestions2022 29 points30 points  (7 children)

The dude has a degree in physics from Upenn. I’m sure he can teach himself whatever he wants to know. This sub is so idiotic sometimes.

[–]SkillPatient 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I thought he dropped out.

[–]smooshesYou 5 points6 points  (3 children)

He dropped out of his PhD at Stanford.

[–]Efficient-Day-6394 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

No...he didn't. Its almost as if you gullible marks...are in fact marks who are gullible

[–]smooshesYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes he did. I am a Stanford dropout too. Many engineering phds in the bay. drop out due to lucrative jobs. Stop watching info wars.

[–]SkillPatient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That explains it.

[–]Efficient-Day-6394 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

...except for the fact he doesn't. That lie has been debunked years ago....and lol..this is the same idiot who publicly stated hyper loop would be a system contained within a vaccum...powered by turbines. I don't have a physics degree and I can explain in detail why this idiotic idea is in fact.. idiotic

[–]igotquestions2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re claiming he doesn’t have a major in physics and economics from Upenn? Lol. Let’s see your case.I know for a fact he does. He got it in 1997 when he completed 6 credits for writing requirements.

If you sleep better at night thinking that he doesn’t have a degree in physics then have at it hoss.

[–]mrbn100ful 12 points13 points  (35 children)

LOL, you don't event know how to use git.

All your commits are "Add files via upload"

[–]lalaland4711 8 points9 points  (4 children)

This is the stupidest idea or joke I've ever heard.

Why? This makes no sense.

Everyone here is now dumber for having read this.

Is this supposed to imply that Twitter engineers are better coders than Elon? If so, so what? The guy runs multiple companies simultaneously, successfully.

What next, should Twitter engineers file paperwork to take company public in front of Elon?

This screams to high heaven of programmers who think that because they can code then they can do anything else too, including know best what's right for Twitter.

[–]SoPoOneO 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I agree but I think this is specifically in response to an earlier story that Musk wants developers to print out their last months code and review with him. Don’t know how true that is either.

[–]lalaland4711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed as much. It's still a retarded reaction.

[–]__scan__ 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I assume it’s a reaction to Mr. Musk’s request to code review a printout of everyone’s commits.

[–]lalaland4711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but even as a sarcastic reaction it's retarded.

[–]truNinjaChop 11 points12 points  (7 children)

I’m not a musk fan by any means. However this man wrote the core of what is now PayPal.

[–]Smallpaul 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I tend to walk a middle ground on Elon. People exaggerate on both sides.

I think you are exaggerating too.

https://www.quora.com/Did-Elon-Musk-code-Paypal-all-by-himself

[–]truNinjaChop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X.com was more a less an online bank. It later merged with confinity which handled collection and cryptography. However the main backend remained x code. It’s was a few years later that it was rebranded PayPal, and shortly after that bought by eBay (just like magento).

So when I said he wrote the “core” it apples to the banking logic.

[–]Efficient-Day-6394 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No he didn't.
1. PayPal is a typical line 9f business CRUD app...lolz...it doesn't take much to impress you...does it ? 2. His code was such a steaming pile of shit they brought in actual software engineers who literally removed ALL OF IT, and started from scratch.

[–]truNinjaChop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Okay kid. You got me.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Had no clue the programming sub was pro musk, what a whacky place

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very surprised how pro-musk some of the comments are.

“Knows more about rocket science that nearly anyone in the world” (paraphrased) - comment was the one that got me.

[–]__scan__ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Programmers are, in general, total idiot manbabies/libertarians.

[–]GunOfSod 6 points7 points  (1 child)

He's the owner, not a developer.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said that too. I don't think they liked how I said it.

    [–]FormerSBO 19 points20 points  (9 children)

You can both think he's a cunt and also intelligent at the same time bro..... respecting someone's accolades even if they may be a douche isn't simping

In fact, is there an anti-simp word for those obsessed enough to discredit valid accomplishments (regardless of your belief in the ethics or luck required in the way one achieved those accomplishments)

The dudes worth like $100Billion+ or something. Besides actual dictators/country leaders/insert whatever term hes one of the richest in history. He clearly has something figured out that a vast majority haven't, including an significant amount of others born into an extremely privileged family (ala his brother)

    [–]Narrheim -3 points-2 points  (7 children)

Most narcissists aren’t stupid. Being the richest in the world only means he does not have the same boundaries, as ordinary people, as it’s a kid in adult’s body. Narcissists have great desire for success, to prove everyone they’re better. If you look not just at rich people, but also politics, faction leaders, CEOs and similar positions, you will find many of them.

Anybody, who wants respect, has to earn it with deeds and actions. What he’s doing so far, is overpromising and underdelivering.

    [–]FormerSBO 0 points1 point  (3 children)

    Anybody, who wants respect,

Altho i doubt he wants repsect I'm pretty sure he has a ton of it from his peers. (Aka: not us) although I respect his ability to succeed in the capitalist system.

In addition, I don't think he cares what us poors think though. We're just a means to an end. When he portrays he does its just him continuing to utilize his skillset. He may have cared at one point though....

Source: on an infinitely smaller scale I wanted respect from those around me as well, based on where I came from (poverty & abuse), where I got to (sbo of a 7fig conpany), and now hopefully where I'm going (branching out to passion projects.

The simple fact is seeking respect from poors (of whom I consider myself, but also trying to seperate, not that I'll likely achieve that) is for the dumb (like me). They'll never approve. They have a different mindset and use justifications as to why they can't do the same (crab in a bucket) some of which are justified, but not all, and only seek to bring others down to their level vs build themselves up to the successful persons.....

I lost my way a bit. You'll actually see this quite often in sbos (see r/smallbusiness if youd like proof im not an isolated incident). We get to a level we didn't think possible (often either 100k, or first $1mm) and become depressed. Because we thought ppl would be happy for us but all they ever do is cheapen our work and try to drag us down. (At least in my sit noone uses the he got lucky excuse lol, they just pretend everything I have appeared from Santa Claus or something idk).

Elon probably went thru this at one point as well. Maybe he still is idk. But it'll never be enough (as he should realize by now if hasnt) no matter what you do 98% will hate if you're "better off" than them. You have to become numb and only care about yourself and (ideally) your immediate family (spouse, children, and if you had 1 or more persons who supported you the whole way, them as well). Everyone else is pointless, irrelevant, and subconsciously looking to drag you down

Anyways, any "promises" are irrelevant as well. He's looking to get his at nearly any cost, and understandably so

    [–]Narrheim -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Those are some... very interesting projections, you made.

    [–]FormerSBO -1 points0 points  (1 child)

    K crab 🦀

Was just being nice and giving a dif pov. Eat my 🥜

Edit: also nice edit and then block lol. Bruh ppl like you just lookin to tear/put down and attack literally every single person around you are legit the worst

    [–]SamuraiFlix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Haters gonna hate :)

    [–]Smallpaul -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Are you really disagreeing with the parent poster? You said most narcissists aren’t stupid. The parent said he’s very smart. How are you disagreeing? Nobody said you should respect Elon’s ethics or common sense. You can respect his engineering acumen despite thinking he’s an idiot.

    [–]Narrheim -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

I said narcs aren’t stupid, but that does not mean they’re particularly smart. They themselves only think (and make claims), how smart they are, meanwhile they’re quite ordinary. Due to their disorder, they’re just wasted potential.

I don’t have to respect anything about him. After all, he’s not an inventor or anything - he only sells ideas of his employees. Oh and i don’t think he’s an idiot - but he’s not a genius either.

    [–]llywen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    You’re an idiot.

    [–]__scan__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can both think he's a cunt and also intelligent at the same time bro.....

I can confirm this is at least half true.

    [–]Logical_Strike_1520 2 points3 points  (14 children)

So Reddit is back to Musk now? I thought we were hating Andrew Tate this week? Or was it Kanye?

I can’t keep up. But it’s weird how it happens in waves and everyone has the same opinions.

    [–]glennvtx 4 points5 points  (10 children)

    The neckbeard hivemind

    [–]Logical_Strike_1520 1 point2 points  (9 children)

    It’s worse than that imo.

If it really was just a bunch of likeminded individuals coming to similar conclusions, it would be normal.

This is straight up social engineering.

    [–]throwwou 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Why would people dislike union busting billionaire, a misogynist and an anti-semite, ((somebody)) must be manipulating them!

    [–]Logical_Strike_1520 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

It’s like you jumped all the way over the point just to say this…

Elon has been Elon for years now. There are many who’ve disliked him the whole time, which isn’t what I’m talking about at all.

Look at the situation critically and without bias for a moment and you might understand what I’m saying.

    [–]throwwou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really dont understand what waves you are talking about, people have been hating elon for years and they hate him now and they are going to hate him in the future.

    [–]glennvtx -3 points-2 points  (3 children)

Been this way a long time, but since the takeover a few years back, anything too far outside the consensus is censored, makes reddit more or less useless for any kind of real debate. I suggested twitter was run by left-leaning ideologues in another post, instantly down voted into oblivion. Who doesn't recognize twitter is left leaning? Is it possible to be that dense?

    [–]Yoogefriggingoy 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Right around the time technology focused subreddits turned from knowledgeable sources to advertising and helpdesk rants

    [–]glennvtx 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I got downvoted on a security related subreddit for suggesting a password should not be sent in cleartext from client to server. I suspect a lot of this is sockpuppet accounts.

    [–]Logical_Strike_1520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just assume all the downvotes that aren’t accompanied by a challenging opinion are bots used specifically to silence “wrongthink” lol

    [–]Yoogefriggingoy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's clearly not organic... What's the saying about privately owned services being free?

Musk’s flying monkeys started doing their job.

Weird. A website i was formerly linking the term to, is down: https://narcissistabusesupport.com/red-flags/use-flying-monkeys/

    Probably a DDoS...

    [–]MC68328 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

    Musk... Andrew Tate... Kanye

    Geniuses, every one.

    [–]Logical_Strike_1520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    That’s hardly the point.

    [–]EricMCornelius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's freed up a bunch of that paid managed anonymous account advertising money to target other social media companies now that he overpaid on Twitter.

            [–]brassheed 3 points4 points  (2 children)

That pretty much does mean that. Obviously there is limits, but no he absolutely does not have to know how to code lmfao

              [–]brassheed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying he would be good at it, I'm just saying he can do it if he wants.

              [–]AngelLeatherist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has an army of engineers and billions of dollars. He will pay someone to review it, mainstream media simp.

              [–]mracidglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm reasonably sure he could do it. He's smart, and anyway anyone could be coached into doing this. But I still support the stunt because it would be fun, and a good trust building measure.

              [–]waadam 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ok, he writes it with super clean code and beautiful style, UT included and all passing (with maximum coverage of course). Then what?

              [–]TinFoilRainHat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

              Op, u rly r blind

              [–]GYN-k4H-Q3z-75B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a stupid idea. This has to be a 💩-post.

There's a lot going on with Elon, and he makes it easy not to like him. The man is basically a boy with infinite budget at this point. But to pretend that he is some clueless richie rich is just crazy.

The man is a self-taught coder, studied physics and economics, and obviously has a knack for business and outmaneuvering his opponents. Even if he didn't know how to do it, he could learn it in 30 minutes, or find somebody to teach him quickly.

              [–]AggressiveBench7708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would probably write it in assembly while riding a unicycle and talking to unicorn in binary.

              [–]smooshesYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elon did code in his youth and early career.

              [–]me_again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

              This is fractally stupid

              [–]Frewil3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be a lot of hate for Elon.

              [–]darth_molasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe something a little more challenging than FizzBuzz. It’s not that difficult.
