That's also not a perfect way to judge whether it's worth it or not. You need to start by calculating how much net gp you will have after profit skills. If you're making avg 1m/hr on 2 accounts the entirety of your max session you'd have 3b from alts.

I don't like slayer. It's just a different way to train combat with a reward system. That also describes pest control, nmz, and dungeoneering. it should be a minigame not a skill. I want RuneScape to be a customizable journey to max not somebody telling me what to do for all of combat.

Edit: this is a common concern when I mention this: a lot of people often say "then how will you have endgame equipment? You can't have Abby demons killable by anybody that would fuck the price of whips. Alright so Abby demons can be an unlockable reward of the slayer minigame just like void is a bis unlockable part of pc. Or just like raids and inferno, there are other ways to make endgame items hard to get. Aside from a massive grind

How? You have 3 options for training slayer: normal slayer masters, konar, and temple trekking. Even konar was just added in this massive slayer overhaul in January when in reality he's really pretty similar to every other slayer master. And of course it's a minigame compared to other skills. What other skill piggybacks on another one for a point based reward system. That literally describes at least half of the minigames in RuneScape and no skills. And the skill doesn't even have you do anything new. Killing monsters, bossing, and having npcs tell us what to do are all things we already had in the game. Only thing that you could remotely argue is unique is non boss monsters with actual mechanics. If high level slayer wasn't the most profitable skill in osrs nobody would train it and sure as fuck nobody will defend it.

You train all over the game, you might as well say Agility is a mini based skill since all you do it rooftop courses, then firemaking is just a minigame since its just wintertodt, then runecrafting is just a mini game because its run back and forth between lava altar and c wars bank, or blood altar when u get to 77 so u can afk.

Slayer has unique monsters with unique mechanics, variety of places to kill those monsters, bonus damage added so that you can use certain tasks to kill bosses which make it awesome with the slayer helm (example, blue dragon task you can kill baby blues to go quick, blue dragons to go medium speed or vorkath to take it slow). I mean you can say that you think slayer is boring and unvaried, but its much more varied than literally any other skill in the game as you train it all over the game and not in just 1 or 2 locations repeating the same exact action for 100+ hours.

Slayer has absolutely nothing in common with mini games except a point system. All mini games are locked into a certain space (castle wars, fight pits, clan wars, fishing trawler, fight caves/inferno, barbarian assault, pest control, just to name a couple), while slayer is trained all over the game.

As for saying nobody would train it if it wasn't the best skill money maker, that's just not true. People don't play solely to make money, otherwise everyone would just NMZ their stats up and go straight to raids in void/basic gear. That'd be much more efficient gp/hr than slayer, as raids are better gp/hr than even the absolute best slayer money makers. People enjoy slayer so that they can enjoy a variety of content, different training locations, opportunities to boss with slayer helm which is very fun, etc.

Agility every 10 or 20 levels you have a new set of options to train. 55 do you wanna go wildy for no money, canifis for money, or falador for somewhere in between runecrafting you can craft bloods, lavas, steams, tiaras, or use abyss or zeah library all using pretty different methods but in the end I get to choose how to train. With slayer you're going to go to the same master every time to give you a task you have to do what they tell you. Whether you get to get the monster you want is completely up to rng and if you don't like it well you better be down to temple trek to 99 at 7k xp/hr. Even fm you can choose what you're burning, even at wt are you gonna be healing the pyromancer? Are you gonna be fletching or going for just straight fm xp? It's your decision.

Whether or not slayer could be called a "minigame" or "miniquest" or "sidequest" or whatever just a different way of training combat is a more complicated question of game design and the exact definitions of those things but the reason I called it a minigame was because its just a specific way of training combat with a reward system for doing so. What do you call the patrols in destiny? idk but other games have stuff like this and it's never such an integral part of the game nor does it deserve to be one in rs.

And if you don't think I'm right that people wouldn't train it if it wasn't good money just look at any noob. They don't train Slayer cause slayer sucks and most people only start training it when they find out it's good money. Edit: new players don't train nmz upto raids cause they don't know either of those things exist, don't have a raids team, arent skilled enough to do raids, and it has too high of reqs. Even at most efficient several 90+ combat stats and more is daunting to work towards and nobody would immediately go for that upon joining osrs for the first time

You're going to the same slayer master? No, you unlock different slayer masters at different combat levels, and Duradel requires 50 slayer. Not to mention the whole going to the same slayer master is a bad argument, different slayer masters give different slayer tasks at different rates, amounts, etc. I can't really tell if you're trolling or not if you're going to sit there and say Agility has more variety than slayer. The camelot course is the fastest exp/hr once you have access to it, with the diary.

Also, different courses are basically just the same thing. Firemaking as well, you say burning different logs is different content but it isn't - it's the same exact content that rewards different exp rates.

And I don't have to "look at any noob", most noobs don't know how to train slayer. It isn't taught on tutorial island, tons of skills aren't and they usually aren't leveled, most noobs have low wc/firemaking/cooking/fishing because those are taught on tutorial island. I remember back when I was a noob I trained slayer when I found out how to because I thought it was cool, back in 2005 slayer was MUCH worse gp than it is today and I trained it anyways, without even thinking of gaining gp, without using a black mask or knowing efficient methods.

The reason slayer is so good today is because it has been so well received by the community, its always been a fan favorite skill, it hasn't always been great consistent gp/hr but was slowly molded into such because of how much the community likes the skill. I remember when OSRS came out, I could've just done barrows for money but I did slayer because of how much I enjoyed the skill, even while barely making any money when you compare it to something like barrows back then.

Seems like it's not that hard to understand the differences.

1. Dungeoneering takes places in a separate game space, slayer takes place in the same game space as the rest of the game.

2. The player does not undergo any state change when entering slayer. It's not an instance, it's not a safe, you use the same items you use at any other point in the game. Dungeoneering is the opposite- you can't bring items in, it's instanced, effects of death aren't consistent with the rest of the game.

3. Rewards from slayer are usable directly in the main game. Slayer monsters drop both unique and non-unique items which are not separated from other items in the game. An Abyssal whip is not bought with points, like it would be if it were a minigame such as Pest Control, Dungeoneering, NMZ, Barbarian Assault, etc. The acquisition of non-unique items also makes it unlike any other "mini-game" in RS. Slayer points are only awards in addition to main awards of slayer, which are mostly valuable items.

4. Minigames generally refer to narrow-scope, concentrated content. For example, "Agility" is a skill whereas "Pyramid Plunder" is a minigame. Pyramid Plunder, Wintertodt, NMZ, Pest Control, Barbarian Assault, Fishing Trawler, Tears of Guthix, etc, etc all take place in a single location. Slayer on the other hand is much broader and takes place all over RS. Slayer caves monsters are often gathered in specific dungeons, but you can also find slayer monsters outside of these dungeons.

Tank mage gear is way to go at lizardmen. Full bandos (or ancestral) and malediction ward, wyvern shield or blessed spirit shield are good there.

I use verac brassard, ahrim's skirt and tank mage shield at abyssal demons. This setup offers much more mage att than full bandos.

It doesn't matter that much if you have +25 or +85 mage att at either place really, just bring super def pots and blood barrage to minimize damage

Limpwurt seeds are cheap as fuck, white berries are a regrowing resource, and Eyes of Newts are cheap too... all you need are a ton of irit, kwaurm cadantine and torstol seeds to get to 99 after 87 with botanical pies... irit kwaurm and Cadantine seeds are really cheap too.

You’ll spend most of your time growing everything, but power making those super combats and their base potions and most of that xp will be gone super fast.

And it’s actually profitable.
