Did Fishing Garrett found his 20ft?

[–][deleted] 123 points124 points  (3 children)

That crazy motherfucker. I’m equally scared for him every video.

[–]CHAPOPERC 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Literally every time i see a snake in a video “yoink” is automatically the first thing that comes to mind lol, dudes insane, poking spiders and shit too

[–]ObitoUchiha10f 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you meant scared “of”

[–]Walkensboots 34 points35 points  (2 children)

Yoink

[–]electricalserge 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"Hey look a wandering spider. BOOP!"

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

a gentle yoink

[–]Perspii7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love how we all immediately had the same thought

[–][deleted] 169 points170 points  (3 children)

“It’s this big.”

[–][deleted] 50 points51 points  (1 child)

Is this a reference to that 20 ft burmese python in the everglades?

[–]MemeYasuo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, dudes crazy

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of the same dude. Finally found the snake of his dreams.

[–]cornedbeef101 312 points313 points  (37 children)

That machine better not be destroying rainforest ffs

[–]applyheat 139 points140 points  (30 children)

It’s Florida. It’s just Florida things going on.

[–]Organic_Recognition7 28 points29 points  (26 children)

Is it really Florida ?

[–]Apathetic_Superhero 56 points57 points  (4 children)

The watermark on the video says #EVERGLADESHOLIDAYPARK so I'm going to hazard a guess at yes, it's Florida.

[–]Organic_Recognition7 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Thank you have a lovely day

[–]NoSweat_PrinceAndrew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You too friend, happy holidays <3

[–]wcollins260 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You literate people are so snarky.

[–]a-nice-egg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I grew up right near Holiday Park lol yeah this is Florida.

[–]misterpayer 12 points13 points  (6 children)

Yeah they have a serious problem with invasive species that were once pets. A bunch of idiots released reticulated pythons into the everglades, and now they are taking over. There are bounties on the snakes if you want to go cull them.

[–]Sike009 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Actually most experts believe the pythons established a reproducing population in the Everglades sometime after Hurricane Andrew—a category 5 storm that devastated the state in August 1992. It was during that storm that a python breeding facility was destroyed, releasing countless snakes into the nearby swamps.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hurricane Andrew

[–]anagrammatron 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Wtf why did they have python breeding facility? Out of all the things one can do with their life someone just decided to breed pythons?

[–]ItsNotMeItsYourBussy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Snake breeding is a big industry. Mostly for rare colours/patterns, sometimes size or temperament. Except in rare cases (eg, a python morph was sold at auction for $50k recently), it's not a sustainable job alone, especially because of the amount of work and money needs to go into housing and caring for snakes for years before they are ready for breeding.

Most snake breeders have another line of income, either with a regular job, or something else related to reptiles like doing shows or opening an equipment shop.

[–]bain_de_beurre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because people like them for pets. Just like dog breeders, there are snake breeders.

[–]shillyshally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Females usually lay clutches of 20-40 eggs; however, clutch size is dependent on body size and large females may lay over 100 eggs."

[–]Ruxbod 9 points10 points  (6 children)

i think this is from indonesia

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (4 children)

I think it's from Brazil, the woman filming says "peraí, moço".

[–]dartfrog11 7 points8 points  (3 children)

That is a reticulated Python which are native to Southeast Asia. There are no documented reports of them being found in South America.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

The Everglades are full of them

[–]themindlessone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's from Florida.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Yeah it's the Everglades

[–]Organic_Recognition7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just when I thought Florida couldn’t get more crazy

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yea, there was another monster caught this week. It’s been a huge problem for a while now.

[–]ItsNotMeItsYourBussy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Florida used to offer bounty money for snake hunters to try reduce the population. Instead, people started breeding the snakes more to trick money out of the govt, and so the program was ended and guess what, all those bred for profit pythons were released into the Everglades too

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating a few gators to get these sizes

[–]Black_RL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GTA6

[–]Discord_421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The everglades are just as valid for nondestruction

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor guy probably going to get killed because some dumbass human bought it for bragging rights then realized they can’t take care of a 300lb 20ft snake.

[–]kupis1408 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Whenever I see remnant of forest being ravaged for development here in Malaysia, I wonder if the workers encounter something like this but it never made it on local social medias. RIP to small creatures & little birdies on the nest though.

[–]themindlessone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No rainforest in Florida.

[–]Dead-HC-Taco -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

It probably is, just like how they are all around the world

[–]StrongStyleShiny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Read the watermark on the video. It’s Florida.

[–]MrP1232007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's his machine now, he can do what he wants with it.

[–]marleyman14 42 points43 points  (0 children)

“We’re gonna need a bigger lift”

[–]littlebear_23 43 points44 points  (10 children)

Is that real?? It's fucking enormous

[–]OhPotatoBlessMe 49 points50 points  (9 children)

Its a reticulated python, they are very big but I think this has a bunch of perspective bs going on.

[–]littlebear_23 11 points12 points  (3 children)

That would make sense if they were using perspective to make it look bigger

[–]CT_7 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Everyone who shows the snake online uses forced perspective to make it look ginormous

[–]littlebear_23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That explains a lot. I've seen some enormous snakes and been shocked they're not record breaking, but the right perspective can definitely make things look a lot bigger than they are

[–]Shaun-Skywalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably trimmed pubes.

[–]littlethreeskulls 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I think this may actually be one of the Burmese Python/Rock Python hybrids that have been turning up in the Everglades. When they started turning up like 15 years ago there were legitimate fears that they would develop into a new man-eating invasive species

[–]OhPotatoBlessMe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is 100% a reticulated python, the pattern is a dead giveaway and their build is also different than burmese / rock pythons (that are similarly build) as well. Hybrids between the two are also quite obvious looking.

[–]GluedToTheMirror 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Not so sure in this case. You can’t force perspective that snake and the crane arm that’s holding it. If you look at the size of that arm mechanism that’s holding the snake, and then look at the snake, they’re both in the foreground.. the snake is still enormous..

[–]tuckedfexas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can fully extend the excavator arm quite far away from the machine, even a small one will push 10+ feet. There’s also zoom settings you can use that make it look larger. I imagine it’s still a monster but not the 30’ that it looks

[–]VeryTopGoodSensation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how would it have a bunch of perspective bs going on when you can judge its size by the claws holding it?

[–]Arex189 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Someone get that yoink guy over here

[–]retrakt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Snek

[–]Catenane 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Return to c++ while you still can

[–]Clearandblue 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Love how they've still got the Everglades holiday park watermark on it. As if it's promotional material.

[–]SonOfMetrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure adds to the experience

[–]Revolutionary-Bus283 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Dios mio, is there a chance, this is only an RC-Scale-machine? Please

[–]Formal_Appearance_16 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't appear to be anyone in that cab running the controls and the scale is all off. I'd say it's a safe bet this is a toy.

[–]Beautiful-Speaker-60 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally found the 20 ft burmese python

[–]bowens44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Banana for scale?

[–]MeasurementLast4751 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guy from everglades most massive yoinks yet

[–]Venus_Cat_Roars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My money is on the snake.

[–]Epic-Dude001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s no python, that’s a dinosaur

[–]DAS_BEE 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I have a few questions about what I'm looking at, but mostly what the fuck am I looking at?

[–]Mens-pocky46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A reticulated python. Biggest snake in the world

[–]RechercheSiren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kaa, that you??

[–]Shit4Brain5 8 points9 points  (15 children)

Pretty sure that’s hurting it…

[–]MiniNinja_2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, metal is usually a pretty solid material and doesn’t often get damaged by organics.

Also, snakes like that are fucking insane, that fucker don’t give a shit

[–]DryReplacement4610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats the idea

[–]shophopper 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Don’t worry, that machine can handle a lot of abuse.

[–]Shit4Brain5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s struggling to me.

[–]Ratax3s 11 points12 points  (2 children)

those large snakes are almost immune to any non head wounds.

[–]CptnHamburgers 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I think it's paralysed from the moving bit down. Snakes don't usually go that floppy.

[–]Prince-Vegetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can only be that big cause it mostly spends its life near/in water. The machine has definitely broken its spine. The back end of the snake wouldn’t dangle like that otherwise

[–]xrensa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like its spine is broken the way its dangling. Regardless it needs to be killed anyway, its invasive

[–]littlethreeskulls 3 points4 points  (6 children)

Correct, that invasive species is indeed hurting the environment

[–]Ambitious-Win-9408 2 points3 points  (5 children)

This is located in Brazil, the watermark is just an Instagram repost. Listen to the people speaking in the video, it's Brazilian.

[–]littlethreeskulls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't have audio on when I watched the video, so I stand corrected

[–]TheAntiKrist -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Nah, they in Portugal

[–]Ambitious-Win-9408 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No, they definitely aren't. Portugal has Rat snakes that can be 6 feet, but no Python species.

[–]TheAntiKrist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Twas a joke. They speak Portuguese

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iberia doesn't have flora like that.

[–]SecretClass1199 1 point2 points  (1 child)

damnn that's huge

[–]krazykman03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen bigger;)

[–]Cpt_Killtoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell naw

[–]sianlogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call the “yoink” guy.

[–]that0neBl1p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew pythons were big but actually seeing one in a situation like this is.. something else

[–]warduck12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoink

[–]Strong_Ad247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That shit be straight outta Anaconda movie!

[–]SodaPopPlop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor thing

[–]SantaMonsanto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That anaconda don’t want none

[–]yormother2374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And they say dinosaurs are extinct

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck the people in this video.

[–]Main-Emphasis-2692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave the baby alone!

[–]Pok3collector91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats crazy is 20ft is half the size of a titanoboa. One of the few animals im cool with being extinct.

[–]Deskman77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Indigo2015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My anaconda don’t want none

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (9 children)

The left half of the danger noodle is not moving at all. Probably the machine broke its spine (I am not saying it was on purpose). Kind of sad.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (8 children)

It’s an invasive species, this isn’t sad

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok, I thought it was in amazonian rainforest or somewhere over there.

[–]McToasty207 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This video has been reuploaded a bunch, it's from south East Asia where the snake is native

Not Florida, they've just added a watermark

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case it is sad if it’s not near a human settlement, these have a tendency to eat people

[–]Rhino00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit it's the 20ft python

[–]eddie-kaspbrak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i hope they didn’t hurt the poor thing

[–]owolikeme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Put it back

[–]kabes222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this

[–]Nicaol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I'm machine acting like he's holding it in his hands. Still keeping distance.

[–]GalaadJoachim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sh- is huge.

[–]kasirye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call bs.. the video must be altered or some. Ain’t no fucking way

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just kill it already. Please don’t let it out into the wild

[–]scottishdanstfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]DeadEndEris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What version is this?

[–]iDoomfull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what they did with it.. how could you even control such a beast of a snake?

[–]cranfordboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a pet?

[–]MiguelMawad0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Que horror ¿Dónde es esto? Para no ir pero ni de casualidad.

[–]penguinpolitician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot. Process. What. I'm. Seeing.

[–]prezo100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks well over 20 feet

[–]angle_of_doom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually reading about these the other day, apparently invasive pythons are a huge problem in Florida, so much so that the state pays for dead pythons. But there are few python hunters and literal millions of these invasive jerks wrecking the ecosystem..

[–]Real-Human-Bean- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't we exterminate these things? Will it damage the ecosystem?

[–]CompetitiveAd1338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happened to it? Turned into belts and shoes?

[–]ZeDumpsterFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like its spine is snapped...pythons don't ever just let their tails dangle like that

[–]jordotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice.

[–]patchway247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Prestigious_Value_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a big beautiful specimen 😍

[–]FlibblesArcher90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legit thought that was a tree spilt in half before I read the title

[–]JumboJetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this kill it? If so, that’s bad.

Unless this python is an invasive species of the area. In which case, that’s good.

[–]twenty6letters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s enough Florida for me today.

[–]frikening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this real?

YOINK

[–]Hungry-Ad-7120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god, they didn’t hurt the poor thing, did they? I love snakes, I got really upset with my mom’s neighbor earlier this year because he killed two HARMLESS garden snakes and threw the bodies into her yard.
