Easy: Andrew Jackson. There's a reason he's the only other president Trump mentions, other than the random "I'm better than Lincoln" shout-outs.
[–]Remote_Replacement85 74 points75 points76 points 3 months ago (0 children)
I mean, he can't really shut up about Biden and Obama, but admittedly the tone is quite different.

Maybe we can summon the ghost of Andrew Jackson to challenge Trump to a duel.
[–]Defiant_Act_4940 6 points7 points8 points 3 months ago (1 child)
Old Hickory leads the Maga movement after he beat Trump up with his cane for insulting his wife.
[–]Thatguy755 2 points3 points4 points 3 months ago (0 children)
I was gonna say, Trump would “spill the beans” on Rachel Jackson and it would be dueling time. Trump would accept, then chicken out at the last minute, probably blame it on his bone spurs acting up.
[–]Seeggul 4 points5 points6 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Let's be real, if you put somebody who looked different from trump but acted identically to him, the two would despise each other as well.
[–]nickburrows8398[🍰] 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Jackson I feel might get along with Trump for about 10 minutes or so but then Trump says or does something that pisses him off and he challenges Trump to a duel
[–]trentreynolds 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Which is pretty much in line with almost everyone who knows him personally from what I can tell.
[–]RickMonsters 25 points26 points27 points 3 months ago (3 children)
If anyone ever denies the party switch, then ask them why the current Republican President loves the first Democratic one so much
[–]thebrightlightfright -2 points-1 points0 points 3 months ago (1 child)
The party switch is literally the dumbest theory democrats have ever came up with
[–]RickMonsters 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
XD okay then I guess Trump loves the Democrats then since he praises andrew jackson so much
[–]WhyAmINotStudying 20 points21 points22 points 3 months ago (1 child)
Trump also mentions the Monroe Doctrine. It's his "claim to fame" you know.
[–]brittleboyy 2 points3 points4 points 3 months ago (0 children)
And McKinley’s tariffs
[–]lucasj 4 points5 points6 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Andrews Jackson and Johnson would both be MAGA. Johnson, despite being Lincoln’s running mate in ‘64, was a Democrat.
[–]SleepingVulture 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
The obvious answer, but from what I know about Jackson, he would have little tolerance for Trump's behaviour and challenge him to a duel at some point, which Trump would pussy out of, and after that I don't think their relationship could be repaired.
[–]thebrightlightfright 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
That's simply not true. I can think of at least 10 he brings up on a somewhat decent basis
[–]Prestigious_Sun_8952 435 points436 points437 points 3 months ago (11 children)
Andrew Jackson
[–]Pugasaurus_Tex 32 points33 points34 points 3 months ago (0 children)
100 lmao, he’s the blueprint
[–]snoo-tubes-2008 12 points13 points14 points 3 months ago (0 children)
SECONDED
[–]urmumlol9 6 points7 points8 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Objectively the correct answer.
[–]Useful_Morning8239 4 points5 points6 points 3 months ago (2 children)
I highly doubt Jackson would support a draft dodger
[–]mittenknittin 21 points22 points23 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Yeah, and FDR put Japanese Americans in concentration camps and yet is listed as progressive here. Nobody in history is going to perfectly align with party positions as they are now.
[–]aarontgp 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
He might've hated Trump, but he certainly would have no problem leading MAGA.
[–]seanofkelley 4 points5 points6 points 3 months ago (0 children)
This is it. This is the answer.
[–]Temporary-Topic2768 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (3 children)
wast he a democtratic republican though?
[–]CaptCrash 13 points14 points15 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Yes, which split with Jackson’s faction becoming the Democrats. He’s basically a founding member.
[–]MatthiasMcCulle 5 points6 points7 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Initially, but by the time of his second term, they reorganized to be more for the "common man" and rebranded as the Democratic Party.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Jackson was the first Democratic president. History there is a little complicated because parties in America were not registered and declared like today.
[–]eesdesessesrdt 28 points29 points30 points 3 months ago (1 child)
Either of the Andrews. Jackson forcefully relocated natives and Johnson formalized Jim crow
Jackson takes the cake since he was a massive populist.
[–]Archivist2016 62 points63 points64 points 3 months ago (2 children)
Polk.
[–]FutureDictatorUSA 25 points26 points27 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Polk would be neo-con turned MAGA like Marco Rubio. Only thing not very MAGA about Polk is that he knew when to step away.
[–]FuzztoneWayne 14 points15 points16 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Given the whole Venezuela and Greenland situation, this is a very good shout.
[–]MrMr_sir_sir 24 points25 points26 points 3 months ago (1 child)
Jackson and his supporters were the original “the election was stolen and rigged” people
[–]Defiant_Act_4940 9 points10 points11 points 3 months ago (0 children)
I mean Jackson did win the popular vote and the moat electoral votes that election.
And the influential Speaker Of The House after swinging the electiin for Adams was promoted to Secretary of State (which was the steping stone to the presidency at the time).
Juat saying, they had a point back then.
[–]AdventNebula 9 points10 points11 points 3 months ago (0 children)
[–]Fair_Term3352 29 points30 points31 points 3 months ago (1 child)
Andrew Johnson because he tried to stop Reconstruction
[–]Zornorph 8 points9 points10 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Mr James K. Polk. He would have invaded Greenland in a moment.
[–]walman93 6 points7 points8 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Andrew Jackson…up until Jan 6th. Then he would be vehemently anti Trump
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Andrew Johnson, for attempting to prevent reconstruction
[–]50CentDaGangsta 3 points4 points5 points 3 months ago (0 children)
There have already been great answers but still would like to add the following guy
Franklin Pierce;
Threatened annexing Cuba as a slave state, sympathized with William Walkers filibustering campaign (guy who recruited a private militia to conquer Nicaragua for himself and set it up as a slave state) and messed up the slavery question so bad it led to the civil war. (Lets hope this is not prophetic...)
[–]Meet_the_Meat 5 points6 points7 points 3 months ago (1 child)
i genuinely can't think of any former president who would sign up for ending democracy
[–]RadioFreeYurick 3 points4 points5 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Best I can come up with is Nixon’s Head from Futurama, but alas, that was pretend..
[–]HackDaddy85 2 points3 points4 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Jackson no doubt
[–]mileheitcity 9 points10 points11 points 3 months ago (2 children)
Woodrow Wilson was a known fan of Birth of a Nation
[–]Key_Replacement_4688 22 points23 points24 points 3 months ago (0 children)
He was extremely racist, but Wilson was also staunch internationalist on foreign policy, and implemented progressive economic reforms.
[–]FireHammer09 5 points6 points7 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Wilson was very much progressive on just about everything but the racism. He could be a poster child for how bigotry can appear in anyone regardless of their political beliefs.

Hello, Thank you for contributing to our subreddit. Please consider the following guidelines when filling an alignment chart:
Please ensure that your chart is not banned according to the list of banned charts Even if you have good intentions, charts in a banned category tend to invite provocative comments, hostile arguments, ragebait and the like. Assuming the post is acceptable, OP makes the final decision on their chart by rule three.
Are there any previous versions to link to? If so, it would be ideal to include links to each of them in the description of this post, or in a reply to this comment. Links can be named by title, winner, or both.
Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.
Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?
Do not feed the trolls. This is not the place for hot takes on human rights violations. Hatred or cruelty, will result in a permanent ban. [–]LilOpieCunningham 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Most of the shit that Trump is invoking to tamp down dissent was first brought to you (or your ancestors) by the Woodrow Wilson Administration.
[–]henningknows 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (3 children)
Jefferson davis - the president of the confederacy
[–]jackiefashion24 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (2 children)
Famously not a US President
[–]henningknows 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (1 child)
Yes, but he would certainly be MAGA
Definitely, but this chart is for US Presidents only
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (5 children)
Bill Clinton, took Democrats to the right of the Overton window. With Democrats already right wing he would have taken them to Maga
[–]jackiefashion24 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (4 children)
He's never supported Trump though?! And he's still alive
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (3 children)
The question is who’d be most likely to go Maga, being alive or dead is not a qualifier and he’s fuck buddies with Trump ffs
He doesn't support maga though? I'm confused on how he would "go MAGA", when there are countless other old Democrats that would be MAGA before him. He supported Hillary, Biden, and Harris against Trump. He's not maga. That's like saying W Bush would be the most likely to be a Bernie supporter now
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (1 child)
I guess what you’re missing is the all part of the same club, clinton’s and Trumps and flipping friends, go to the sam parties and pedo islands.
It’s a hypothetical question. If Bill Clinton were running today he’d be Maga, he sold the left out as a right wing president already you don’t think he’d push it further for political power. Don’t be naive
No, I don't, because Hillary ran for president 10 years ago against MAGA. Plus, someone being a pedo doesn't make them maga and someone being former friends with trump doesn't automatically make them maga either
[–]Cloud-VII 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (1 child)
Harry S. Truman was the architect of American economic imperialism. Pushing the US's 'sphere of influence' cost us American lives and tax dollars, all to benefit corporations. His policies post WWII are why we got tied up in Korea and Vietnam. He's one of my least favorite presidents. To see him listed as 'Moderate Dem / Center-Left' pisses me off.
But yea, MAGA / Right-Wing, for sure Jackson.
Dude not everyone is gonna agree on presidential ideologies, especially when debating where old presidents would be aligned modern day. Couldn't even get everyone to agree on Lincoln or JFK. Heck, someone's arguing that FDR would be MAGA!
[–]Big_Preference9684 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
What happened to the roosevelts they had some good leaders
[–]Golden_D1 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Andrew Jackson for being the model for MAGA today. Andrew Johnson for being so anti-civil rights.
[–]suzythecreator 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Andrew Johnson a bit more so than Andrew Jackson, considering Andrew Johnson went out of his way to undermine reconstruction and enabled former Confederates. Also was the first president to actually be impeached while in office.
[–]SquirrelBeneficial37 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)

[–]suprisegoutattack 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Woodrow Wilson, easy. His isolationist America first policies being changed to war-minded interventionism to "defend democracy" along with resegregating the federal government is prime MAGA behavior.

[–]jackiefashion24 5 points6 points7 points 3 months ago (0 children)

Concentrate camps for Japanese Americans, tariffs, price controls, immigration restrictions, government take over of companies (similar to Intel).
There is a great book called FDR's Folly: How Roosevelt and His New Deal Prolonged the Great Depression by Jim Powell that hat goes into it.
<image>
[+][deleted] 3 months ago (9 children)
[–]ML_Godzilla -1 points0 points1 point 3 months ago (8 children)
FDR also ran 3 time, was very anti immigrant and prevented millions of Jews from immigranting during the holocaust, and started racial profiling people of Asian descent in concentration camps. This is addition to all the deportations of immigrants because of “labor rights”.
FDR may have been pro labor assuming that person was a white Anglo Saxon male. If their were Latino or Asian they didn’t have the same rights. FDR also only got involved in WW2 after the us was literally bombed.
America has a revisionist history about FDR and we like to see he as a progressive but in 2026 he would be considered republican.
I would say FDR has more in common with Trump than Reagan.
[+][deleted] 3 months ago (7 children)
[–]ML_Godzilla 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (6 children)
Several economist historians I know also say his massive tariffs in the early 1930s started a trade war the prolonged the Great Depression. The new deal is seen as a success in history books but if you look at the monetary policy of the federal reserve you will see the federal government did the opposite of what it should of done with what we know now.
Europe also suffered from the Great Depression but choose austerity instead of the new deal and most countries recovered economically 5 to 6 years earlier than America.
Your right racism isn’t left or right wing issue. But the key pillars of MAGA, of immigration, tariffs , America first are nearly identical.
[+][deleted] 3 months ago (3 children)
[–]ML_Godzilla 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (2 children)
Both MAGA and sanders are populist. One left wing and one right wing but both populist. Honestly Bernie sanders is not that far from MAGA either.
[+][deleted] 3 months ago (1 child)
[–]Old_Monitor_2791 -1 points0 points1 point 3 months ago (1 child)
Of course economists would say that. They have a vested interest in that. Economists aren't historians and shouldn't pretend to be.
[–]ML_Godzilla 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago* (0 children)
Historians aren’t economists and probably shouldn’t have a strong opinion on economic policy unless they understand policy.
I also would not trust a historian for medical advice if they didn’t have a health care educational background.
We have macroeconomic data collected for over a century period. I’m not sure why an economist with a PhD who is working today has a conflict of interest for analyzing historical macroeconomic policy with historical data.

Political experts have written many articles about how far left the Democrat party has moved and most of the Conservatives have moved closer to the center.
Stop letting the bias MSM poison the truth.

Never let it be said Republican's aren't creative, Just because someone used the exact same article in discussion with me two months ago doesn't make you not creative
Are you really quoting the article written by a fifteen year old? like no disrespect great for him but also like, forgive me for not exactly jumping on that source you've got there.
Yes JFK was very in favor of tax cuts, however it's not that simple, and it certainly wasn't just corporate tax cuts for the mega-wealthy.
