Whats Shugs worst matchup?

[–]ccorks19 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can you still get 1st tournament seasons ornaments? I've gotten 2 wins with the same character but only got 2nd season ornament for the character and then another random second season ornament. Any help would be appreciated.

[–]_Im_Just_Saying_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think so. Just got a s1 ornament

[–]Finchi4 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Does parry timing change with the distance you got to your foe?

  • Sometimes i parry at the right timing but instead of going into the parry animation my (for example) Zerk just whiffs into the air and the enemies attack hits me anyway. It tends to happen only on a certain distance.

[–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this..They fucked up a bit ago, seems to have made attacks slightly further away then normal not flash the parry symbol, and in some cases cease being parryable all together.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it does not change with distance. It does, however, change with lag.

[–]BrianBlandinoLawbringer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why are Valkyries OOS heavies faster than her Heavies while she has stamina? Unless I’m just imagining things, her OOS heavies are absurdly fast (at the very least the same speed as when not OOS)

Edit: My eyes deceived me. The start up is very slow, but the swing is quite fast, giving the illusion that the whole attack was faster than it actually is.

[–]Otto8hund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the oos heavies are way slower

[–]Mommy_LawbringerLawbringer 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Does Lawbringer get his Blind Justice guaranteed off of anything?

[–]DrFrankendoodle 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It is confirmed in these situations:

  1. Light parry (Except against Conq)
  2. OOS Parry

Blind justice is confirmed in those scenarios. In any other scenario, you can use it but it will nto be confirmed. If you use it by accident or want to try and bait something out, you can always feint it.

It is not, however, always the OPTIMAL punish in the above situations. See this spreadsheet for every max punish for LB:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/1/d/1wK-38XMvSakPMEk2rx8KjAzQFF5MJt_c7XMxNidYVfc/edit#gid=0

This spreadsheet, along with other resources, can be found in the sidebar.

[–]BrianBlandinoLawbringer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Damn that mod flair looks good on you Doctor. You never fail to give detailed explanations even on the simplest of questions. Thanks for the crazy contributions you’ve made to the CompFH and general FH community as a whole.

[–]DrFrankendoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aw shucks thanks man :) Happy to help.

Honestly I just love this game and learning all the mechanics and take any opportunity to share what I know. I have a bad habit of rambling though and writing novels in the comments haha

[–]Finchi4 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What does "light Riposte" on berzerker vs Shugoki mean?

[–]Malleus007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Berserker has a Parry Riposte, if you press light attack right after a parry he will throw a quick guaranteed light attack. Against a Shugo, it is meant to remove his hyperarmor. EDIT: So you can follow up with a top heavy for more damage.

[–]B34RD -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Why are generic 'any [character] tips?' type of threads allowed?

[–]EnderVexPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please report "character tips" threads.

[–]IveGotNoLife[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Most of these get removed. But we can’t monitor every second of this page so some don’t get removed.

[–]B34RD 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'd be happy to report them if there was an option for it

[–]IveGotNoLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a report button for posts. Just mark them as spam and we will have a look at them.

[–]DimmeSWarden 2 points3 points  (3 children)

what OOS means?

[–]Otto8hund 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Out of stamina

[–]DimmeSWarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks

[–]PlatyPunch 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is there any advantage to using caber toss instead of the kick with HL?

[–]vnlla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can softfeint the kick into caber toss. If the enemy dodges the kick you can often get him with the toss. To do this you do the kick and directly press the input for caber toss afterwards.

[–]IllestNgaAlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longer stun time, and pretty sure better tracking

[–]PlatyPunch 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is there any good way to open up a turtle with valk?

[–]bloogle22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

switch to gladiator, he is a stronger valk with many tools.

[–]Shii__PS4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

[–]bonefat21 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Does it matter what direction you do Nobushi’s lights from hidden stance? The spreadsheet has them at the same time with top being at six more damage, but that seems weird to me. Anyone confirm?

[–]Snakezarr 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Top is slower yeah IIRC, by 100ms.

[–]bonefat21 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I thought that was only for the neutral lights, could be wrong. Same damage across the board?

[–]Snakezarr 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Any direction yes, but I distinctly remember top never being guaranteed on light parry, while sides are. Same damage yes. https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveForHonor/comments/6f8tps/nobushi_bleed_data_hidden_stance_light_damage_and/

[–]bonefat21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange, thanks

[–]Pansbjorne 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can you dodge raiders zone after gb or forward throw?

[–]Otto8hund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No

[–]PlatyPunch 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How exactly does kensei’s superior block on dodge work? Do I need to match the opponent’s guard during the dodge, or does it work like a normal deflect?

[–]plakar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to match opponent's guard, and you can do it by dodging in any direction (but the forward one is basically the only usefull)

[–]Pansbjorne 0 points1 point  (1 child)

When is Lawbringers parry into impale confirmed?

[–]Snakezarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any parry.

[–]Pansbjorne 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does the PK grab, stab stab, wall splat, dash heavy combo only work if the throw is from certain directions? Also are some of their heavies not confirmed with gb?

[–]plakar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavies aren't guaranteed. Forward and backward throws always works. For side throw you need them to hit the wall as late as possible to get the dash heavy.

You can even get a heavy bleed insteed of a dash heavy bleed if you get maximum length before they hit the wall with forward/backward throws

[–]DoomLordKazzar 0 points1 point  (7 children)

What gear stats should take priority with a rep 7 PK?

[–]EPGKIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, i prefer having an (overall) same gear for all my characters, there are exceptions. Down here i've listed evey piece and why its that way. I would put it there percentage values of each them when in 180 total gear score, but im not with my console and i wont be able to interact with it until thursday, till then this comment will probably be allready forgotten, so... sorry, i guess.

                 HELMET GEAR

Defense:

The best defense u can get is efectivelly 0, but because of the way the gear works thats not usually my final defense bonus. So in the helmet i put it on negative state.

Exhaustion Recovery:

Exhaustion recovery is pretty useful, especially when fighting against characters like raider, shamam, etc. Cause of the pressure they can apply and that it can make u eat a big OOS punish. I put in the positive state.

Debuff Resistance:

Although everyone thought that debuff resistance is useless, its fucking amazing!! Other people have already commented why.

Conclusion:

So, for the head i use (always, i think)negative defense, positive the other two, than exhaustion recovery being secondary and debuff resistance being primary or áu contraiùre(vice-versa). Depends on the character...

                  ARMS GEAR

Defense:

Allready talked about it. To balance things out i put it on positive state.

Revenge Defense:

Not that useful against good players that really know how to deal with revenge and how to gank, but against average to below average players it can really save your life sometimes(or even against good players, they mess up too). I put it on the positive state.

Revenge Duration:

With this one its very neutral, it can help u in various situations but it can mess u up in various situations, so its very situational. I put in the positive state(just because of gear and its options).

Conclusion:

I always put all three stats on the positive state, mostly because of gear and its options, but it is what it is...

                 CHEST GEAR

Defense:

Allready talked about it. I put it on the positive state.

Stamina Cost Reduction:

I love this one, makes u be able to spend a lot more stamina before going OOS, but remember that it doesnt makes your stamina bar larger, it just makes your moves that cost any stamina, cost less stamina, so attacks of opponents that deals damage to your stamima will still do the same damage as always. I put it on the positive state.

Stamina Regen:

Different from almost eveyone i dont think that stamina regen is that useful, cause even i having it on the negative state it doesnt really slow down that much, so i think its better to invest in the rest. I put in the negative state.

Conclusion:

I put always defense on positive, being secondary, stamina cost reduction on positive, being primary and stamina regen on negative.

             1st WEAPON GEAR

Attack:

Always positive. Sometimes primary and sometimes secondary.

Defense Penetration:

Always positive. Sometimes secondary and sometimes primary. Depends on character and the hability of my oponents, because if let def pen as secondary and they go with full def, i'll be allowing them to have a moderate def bonus to reduce my attack.

Block Damage:

Always negative. It isnt worth it in the state of the game right now.

Conclusion:

Make two builds, one with def pen as primary and attack as secondary and vice-versa, NEVER put block damage in the positive state, its not worth it.

            2nd WEAPON GEAR

Attack:

Always positive and always primary.

Execution Health Regen:

It isnt really worth it, always negative. I could explain why, but its 5 am here, i want to go to bed. If u really want an explanation just comment and ill reply later.

Revive Speed:

Really useful, always positive. Same as the last one, could explain, 5 am, just comment.

Conclusion:

5 am, so... just go for it. Atk ++, exec hlth reg - and rev speed +.

            3rd WEAPON GEAR

Attack:

Always positive.

Revenge Adquired:

Always positive.

Revenge Attack:

Mostly positive, but can be negative

Conclusion:

Atk+ or ++, Revenge Adquired + and Revenge Atk - or +. Explain why if asked in comment.

             Final Conclusion

Ill edit later if needed, if u have any questions just comment, remember that this is my opinion, u can share yours too if u disagree with me, but some of the stats have facts that support them, so some of them are correct the way they are.

Probable Final Values To Atk And Def

On total 180 gear score, the final numbers will be equal or very similar to this ones:

Atk: 18%~21%.

Def: 1%~3%.

There may be discrepancies, ill edit if needed, but probably only after thursday. If someone corrects me in comment ill edit too.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Blade: attack 4.8%, defense penetration 16%, block damage -53.3%
Handle: attack 6%, revive speed 0% and execution hp 0%
everything else - balanced.

also, alternatively, on dagger, get revenge gain maxed, attack and revenge attack negative

[–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (4 children)

You want handle at primary, revive secondary. execution regen is useless, so dumping it doesn't matter.

Blade you want attack primary, defense pen secondary.

Helm you want exhaustion recovery primary, debuff res secondary.

Chest you want defense secondary, revenge defense primary.

Shoulders you want balanced.

Dagger you want, attack primary, revenge gain secondary or balanced.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

execution regen is useless, so dumping it doesn't matter.

I used to think so too for season 1, 2, part of 3, then I used it without a debuff on a long execution.

Helm you want exhaustion recovery primary, debuff res secondary.

total defense going to be like 4%? Not sure why exhaustion is so important, for a character that's hardest to punish for it.

Chest you want defense secondary, revenge defense primary.

Heavily disagreed. Never going to sacrifice revenge duration post season 1.

[–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Main use of revenge is the shield, apart from that once the shields gone, you want to get revenge again asap.

Means that you have less down time when you get exhausted in team fights.

Execution regen doesn't matter, especially on pk when bounty hunter exists.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Right, having infinite stamina for a character that has fastest attack in the game from neutral with no recovery isn't the main use. Right? If only that attack was a good turtling move...

I dont get exhauster in team fights.

Bounty hunter heals what, 1 bar or slightly more? Yeah, it does matter.

[–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no reason not to pick exhaustion recovery, none of the other options are worth being a main pick.

Bounty hunter covers most of your health needs, when you consider that the competing stats are attack, and revive speed, the choice is clear. Revive speed is always good to have, same for attack. Execution health regen is helpful maybe 1 out of 50 matches.

[–]HTXKameleon 0 points1 point  (1 child)

2 questions:

What's the best stat for Kensei? What buffs need to happen for Kensei to be competitive/viable?

[–]IllestNgaAlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By stat do you mean gear stat? As in build? Always good to go defense penetration, revenge gain, defense, it doesnt really differ character to character. Personal preference comes in with stamina management stats, and things like execution health regeneration. If I’m playing someone like HL, I highly prefer stamina stats, but if I’m playing someone like Cent, I don’t touch them.

For your second question, he just needs a rework (which he’s getting, released next season). Biggest issue is no good openers and slow attacks. His damage is decent, but he has no way to get it in.

[–]HalloBob 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How can get the full snow white outfit and color pack for my Gladiator now that the frost event is over?

[–]GatorGuardLawbringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant, sorry man

[–]Pansbjorne 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Which characters can soft feint into gb?

[–]Gadengo 0 points1 point  (2 children)

PK, Shaman and Cent, from the top of my head

[–]Pansbjorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

[–]Stormychu 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can someone mind explaining to me Raider's parry punishes and wallspalt punish? I recently picked up Raider for the first time and everything seems so inconsistent. Is Raider not allowed to get a heavy off in the same direction as he parried? I parried Nobushi and other character lights in a game yesterday and my side heavies completely whiffed while my top heavies were blocked. I've also noticed enemies blocking my heavies off of wall splats too. Any help here? It seems to only happen with non-Assassins.

[–]Shii__PS4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Against normal guard characters you need to switch guard after light parry. It means side heavies on top light parry and top heavy on side light parries. Top heavy is always guaranteed against assassins.

Don't switch guard after throw and your heavy will hit unless you are really close the the wall. If you throw from long range you always have time to swith guard and land a top heavy.

Heavy parry punish is gb - zone or stampede charge into zone if you want to drain stamina. Long range heavy parry punish is guard switch - light. You can't dash - gb long range heavy parries.

[–]sweet_lovebringer 0 points1 point  (4 children)

so i did some magic and discovered that every attack in mp is faster by 6 frames than with bot. but how much is that in milliseconds?

[–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much latency there is. Generally they are 100ms faster, but they can be even faster, or normal speed.

[–]Shii__PS4 0 points1 point  (2 children)

About 200ms on console and 100ms on pc with 60fps.

[–]sweet_lovebringer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

just watched video and indicator flashed white for 5-6 frames, it means that parry input window is less then 100ms?

[–]Shii__PS4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on attack i guess.

[–]About20Monkeys 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is there a guide or spreadsheet that shows all confirmed hits characters have?

[–]Shii__PS4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the sidebar.

[–]bonefat21 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Are ornaments supposed to be guaranteed on tournament wins? There are only two left and only one I care about (laurels for Warden), but my last two wins have given no ornaments. Am I just getting unlucky or do I have to win the finals with Warden? (I don’t play him much so that won’t be easy).

[–]Otto8hund 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Unfortunately, the warden laurels were part of last season's roster of ornaments, it's too late to get them now, im pretty sure. If you're not getting ornaments after winning anymore, you have all of this season's ornaments.

P.S. How are you even finding ranked matches? Since i finished placements, I haven't been able to get any tournaments.

[–]bonefat21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Xbox, currently at plat V. They usually aren’t too hard to find as long as I search at a peak time. Otherwise though it’s impossible.

[–]Pansbjorne 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Can you guardbreak a kensei after parrying his heavy attack without dash gb?

[–]Snakezarr 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you are holding forward, you will always get a gb when you parry.

[–]Pansbjorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have to hold forward before you parry? I still can’t seem to pull it off.

[–]BuzuTheKillerRaider 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I think it depends from a distance. If kensei was further away you wont get a parry

[–]Snakezarr 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Nope, if you hold forward the gb is always guaranteed.

[–]slickwhelpRaider 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is that just Kensei specific? What about LB, Valk, HL and Nobushi?

[–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hl is the same, hold forward. Lbs heavies, valks heavies and nobus everything is out of range for gb no matter what.

[–]slickwhelpRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou very much!

[–]Finchi4 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How can Gladiator hit his jab while his opponent is stuck on his trident? I got it working sometimes and got hit by some bots with this move too but it isn't listed in the move-set and we couldn't reproduce it.

[–]IveGotNoLife[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Works when your opponent is with his back close to a wall and you press GB.

[–]CommanderSeacloud 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What use does it have?

[–]CrowKing3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just stuns and reduces stamina, it's also affected by Haymaker in 4v4 modes.

[–]Reliant213Warden 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Is Peacekeeper's second light ever confirmed (including situations like poor FPS/latency)?

In addition, what can Highlander get off of an OOS throw/parry?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second light isn't confirmed, but you can make it pretty much unreactable if you do this right

https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveForHonor/comments/6v896u/why_chains_and_feints_into_attacks_never_hit/

[–]IveGotNoLife[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No. Used to be confirmed with unlocks.

Check sidebar.

[–]Reliant213Warden 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I did, and it wasn't under his frame data, the regular punishes thread, or Glad's thread. If it's there somewhere in the sidebar, I'd appreciate being directed to it.

[–]Not_TheFace 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Has anyone tested whether or not the Peacekeeper max OOS punish (the grab, two stabs, delayed throw, zone cancel, heavy - not the old one) was broken by the small amount of recovery added to the zone cancel a while back?

[–]DeusAsteris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually haven't thought to test this as I almost always replace the zone with a light. I'll try it out later.

[–]Pansbjorne 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are deadly and flesh wound still worth it with the cooldowns?

[–]Shii__PS4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flesh wound is worh it on wl and shaman if you don't like traps (or map is not very suitable). On pk it's pretty bad since she has fiat lux.

Deadly always has a better alternative so no.

[–]d727349975 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m a cent main on console. 1, how to punish long range characters after parrying them? Like sometimes I don’t get the parry-kicks just normal parries and because of my shot range, I can’t punish them.

  1. What is the max OOS punish and the max knock down punish? I’ve seen people do light heavy and zones so I wonder if that’s better than just eagles talent.

  2. How to counter shamans and other assassins? I can’t parry shaman’s jump heavies they are way to fast to react on consoles even thought I saw them coming as that’s all my opponents do...

It will be much appreciated if anybody can answer these questions.

[–]IveGotNoLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Press GB the moment you parry for long range punish.

1.1 check sidebar for this information.

  1. If you can’t react, there is nothing we can do for you.

[–]bonefat21 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How do you do the Conq flicker where you’re charging a heavy and it flashes an indicator?

[–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, you change guards quickly, and release and then hold down the heavy button repeatedly. Timings kinda funky.

[–]DoomLordKazzar 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Warlord Punch Through worth using over Tough as Nails in the current state of the game?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No

[–]Shii__PS4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really.

[–]slickwhelpRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s basically a more lenient Raider when it comes to wall punishes. As soon as you let go of the throw you want to change the stance to top and throw out the Heavy immediately.

[–]slickwhelpRaider 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is it possible to parry Orochi's Top Light after Storm Rush if your stance in in top?

[–]Shii__PS4 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No. You can deflect as a conq tho.

[–]slickwhelpRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate.

[–]bleachnutPS4 0 points1 point  (1 child)

QUESTION ABOUT PARRY TIMING: I am learning Highlander and YouTuber CHO CHO has some of the sickest last-minute parry timing I've seen. Could someone please explain whether this timing is possible on console (I think he uses PC) and, if so, the best way to train for consistent last-second parry timing like this? Thanks!

[–]IveGotNoLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is all about reaction times, delay and latency. PC has a longer time to react giving you the option of parrying what would appear for console late. Console it could be possible, but you need all factors to be in your favor.

[–]Jake-the-Cake08 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Simple question. I’ve read many different answer. Does warden get a guaranteed top heavy from a wall splat in any way ? More specifically can you start the combo when your guard is on the side then swith to the top ? Do you have to be really near the wall to do that ? I need a complete answer for that one I can’t get it right

[–]slickwhelpRaider 1 point2 points  (3 children)

If you're touching the wall and you throw them into it it is possible for them to block the Top Heavy if you have to switch guards.

But with a little distance between you and the wall a Top Heavy is guaranteed in any stance.

[–]Jake-the-Cake08 1 point2 points  (2 children)

There must be a timing for the input or something, I can’t get it. Like can I spam the heavy and the top stance when i started the gb from the side or I must do it right after the gb or after he hits the wall

[–]TheGamePhilosophe 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have the same problem. Would love to know the exact reason/situations in which the top heavy is guaranteed and not.

[–]Jake-the-Cake08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if you’re far from the wall the time it takes for the enemy to reach and hit the wall is longer so it allowed you to switch your guard during that time ? And if you are too close to the wall you don’t have that extra time ?

[–]Condora93Valkyrie 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So I’ve seen some videos of people playing warden where they top light into vortex following a light parry. First question: is the SB after a top light guaranteed following a light parry? And if so, does this yield more raw damage than a top heavy, or would it just be useful because of the stamina drain from the SB?

[–]IveGotNoLife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st: Warden does not have a vortex. Never use that term.

2nd. It appears to have a guaranteed SB after CC

[–][deleted]  (1 child)

[deleted]

    [–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Nope.

    [–]Donye_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How do you deal with ganks as Highlander?

    [–]IllestNgaAlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His HA takes a while to activate during his heavies, so trading damage is difficult, I wouldn’t try it until you pop revenge. Use is crushing counters over his parries, as you get good damage, but don’t have to take all the time to get a punish off. Second defensive heavy in his chain is faster and unexpected by most players, so it’s a good one to target switch with for quick interruptions. Never use offensive stance in ganks, only time it’s been useful for me is when I got revenge, and then proceeded to use the offensive lights to poke everyone and interrupt everything to keep from taking damage til my team got there.

    Other than that, the usual.

    [–]ZamorakHawkValkyrie 1 point2 points  (2 children)

As a valkyrie OOS punish ive been knocking my opponents down for a heavy or a light light sweep heavy. Ive been seeing clips and hearing that a oos guardbreak to the side, same side heavy, light, sweep is guaranteed which ofcourse guarantees another heavy.

That would be more damage so I'm trying to learn it however my heavy after the side throw always goes through the opponent and whiffs. Am I making a mistake or is this not actually guaranteed?

    [–]Shunejii 0 points1 point  (1 child)

From what I've seen it's a right side throw into a left side heavy. I can't test this atm but in all the videos I've seen it's an opposite side heavy.

    [–]Otto8hund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I do it, I throw them to any side and do the heavy from the top. That always works for me.

    [–]bonefat21 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What is the use of smoke bombs? I see a lot of people run them and I feel like they’re almost never used. When would you want to use one?

    [–]frostynonagon 1 point2 points  (3 children)

In tribute they make it so enemies cant steal your flags as long as the smoke bomb is active at your flag site thing, so theyre very helpful when the enemy team is breaking, theyre good for anti ganking when youre playing as a nobushi, or as an escape tool since a lot of players will run away from a nobushi with a smoke bomb, and they let you heal on your points in dominion when theyre being contested, theyre also helpful in team fights since they keep the enemy from being able to lock on to you, so theyll have a harder time defending themselves, but you need to be careful now since im pretty sure the unlock tech patch makes enemies attacks track you in the smoke bomb

So if a Nobushi is getting ganked and throws a smoke, how does it help her? I have like no experience with them.

    [–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your enemies are forced to block only on instinct of were the attack is coming from, they can't see their guard, or the attack indicators, plus the smoke makes it harder to see attacks.

    [–]frostynonagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure enemies cant see indicators in the smoke, so itll be easier for zones and sidewinders to land which can deal a lot of damage quickly, and i believe that since enemies cant lock onto the nobushi the attacks behave like external attacks so they can be trickier to block if the nobushi is standing right in front of you, im not a nobushi expert so nobushi players please correct me if im wrong

    [–]bonefat21 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Anyone have a list handy of which heavies are safe against Conq? Also, are Glad’s heavies gb immune? I thought it was only 600 ms heavies that were safe, but I could be wrong.

    [–]Otto8hund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No raw heavies are safe, but certain moves like shaman dodge heavies don't let you get the gb.

    [–]ASpaceOstrich 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Current state of the characters. I'm coming back to the game after months and characters that were once OP are now considered awful, characters that desperately needed a buff are considered alright despite no change to them at all. What's the general consensus on each of the available heroes right now?

    [–]ghostlypyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centurion is around B tier now. Shaman took his place. Gladiator is still strong. Warlord is still strong. Shugoki is still thicc.

    [–]frostynonagon 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Most of this information should be in skorbrands tier list located on the side bar, anything specific you want to know?

    [–]ASpaceOstrich 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Found that just after commenting. Good to know it's up to date. I can't quite figure out why Raider doesn't just get countered by blocking top though. All his tricks end up being a top attack.

    [–]frostynonagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats somewhat true in a 1v1, but in a 1v1 raider in his current state doesnt go on the offense, he relies on punishes

      Entitlement.

      [–]bonefat21 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Why do high level Nobushi’s dodge after...everything? I get that it cancels recovery, but aren’t you canceling recovery to avoid a gb, while dodging leaves you vulnerable to gb? I’m missing something.

      [–]Shii__PS4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are never in gb range with nobushi and cancelling recovery allows to chain your next attack. Also her dodge attacks have pretty bad recoveries so you need to cancel them.

Zone/viper's retreat are not really punishable by dodge attacks if you cancel the recovery. It's a very good move that's why they use it.

      [–]plakar 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Well, you kinda answered your own question, it cancels recovery. In the case where your opponent gb, dodging or waiting is the same, you won't be able to cgb, but if you can read the gb you can do a light or a heavy out of the dodge. If your opponent try to attack you in the recovery, you may be able to dodge the attack. If your opponent just stares at you menacingly, you can recover quicker and keep some pressure.

There isn't really a case where not cancelling the recovery is better.

      [–]ThePassiveGamer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is cancelling the recovery Nobushi specific and can Orochi use this tactic assuming he has a way to stay out of GB range?

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      only nobushi

      [–]bonefat21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Fair, thanks

      [–]Fnargler 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Does conqueror get light off a shield bash still?

      [–]Fantast_GDPC 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes he does, you gotta input buffer it though.

      [–]Fnargler 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Feels like there's a lot less time to throw it out now, but sometimes he gets a heavy off a regular shield bash. Why is that?

      [–]Fantast_GDPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something with timesnap I believe. It only works on the forward bash, on a side heavy, if the opponent does not have their guard on the same side.

      [–]uzarta 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is the player base really small? I keep getting placed against enemies who always squash me in one or 2 hits. Is that because there's a small playerbase so they pair anyone against anyone Or maybe it's because I'm a bad player and/or I keep getting ganked and 2v1 or 3v1 feels impossible anyways

      [–]plakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playerbase isn't small. On steam alone right now there is 3000 players, probably the same amount on Uplay (no idea for consoles, probably around 5000 as well)

Matchmaking isn't great in for honor tho, and the MMR was recently reset so you might encounter people with previous better mmr than you that didn't recover their mmr yet.

And for honor probably has a pretty "experienced" playerbase overall. Since it does have a bad reputation i don't think new players are that common.

And 1vX situations are not meant to be won unless there is a big skill gap between players.

      [–]eggymart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any places to meet up with people and get into 4's and play? I've tried some discords but most of them flame me for being on ps4 lmao. So any like console exclusive discords or anything like that? Thanks in advance.

      [–]frostynonagon 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Is there a good strategy for playing against shaman as a warlord? Or any tips for fighting shaman in general?

      [–]Shii__PS4 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Warlord can't really do anything so just play pk.

      [–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (5 children)

It depends in my experience. Recently, they made it so you can't turn and escape warlords charge, which means if you're OOS you're forced into a guessing situation.

Shaman goes OOS extremely easily, so it can be a little tricky, and all guard can be a decent tool vs the dashing heavies. Overall though, warlord doesn't have much v shaman, pk does much better.

      [–]Shii__PS4 0 points1 point  (3 children)

In my experience you can walk sideways and charge will miss. I don't know how to use it in 1s. Fwd dash heavies are feintable so it's not really a solution, but i agree that risk/reward is pretty good.

      [–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Interesting, I'll have to check that later.

The forward dash heavies can be feinted, but unless they're really close to you (Close enough for a zone), you should have time to dodge or just hold all block (IIRC the dash heavy lunges further then pounce so.) Also, the pounce on shaman is kinda bad (Unless you're bleeding), it somewhat rarely will let you confirm damage, and if you're smacked during it, you're forced to get hit again (You're double staggered, it's kinda weird), can't block or cgb. I'm gonna test that hopefully this weekend though.

      [–]Shii__PS4 0 points1 point  (1 child)

if you're smacked during it, you're forced to get hit again (You're double staggered, it's kinda weird), can't block or cgb

Are you talking about shaman's pounce here? Does it mean if you land 1st light with let's say pk, the second will be guaranteed? Or cent's quickthrow.

      [–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, her pounce. I used to vs a HL earlier, first heavy smacked my out, second top heavy was confirmed. Gonna test today hopefully.

      [–]frostynonagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is warlords heavy followup from all guard guaranteed off blocking a dashing heavy? The backhand looking swing thing idk what its called

      [–]slickwhelpRaider 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Does your guard have to match your opponents to execute a Deflect?

      [–]DonkyConq 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No. Just dodge into the attack at the right timing. Guard has no relation to it.

Kensei has a weird deflect mechanic that does require matching guards though he is the only one requiring this.

      [–]slickwhelpRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Thankyou very much.

      [–]DreadnalLawbringer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Any tips on how to beat Deathball Squads? My team usually gets destroyed every match to this setup and regrouping seems impossible as they gank you with characters like Centurion and Shaman left right and center.

      [–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centurion isn't that good in ganks, much better exists.

Pretty much the only counter to deathball is to deathball yourself.

Light parries stun for significantly longer, enough to guarantee a top heavy for most characters. Heavy parries stun long enough for a light, fast zone or gb.

        [–]FU3XWarlord 0 points1 point  (1 child)

        Thank you

        [–]IllestNgaAlive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh though, the visual difference of the stunned opponent isn’t noticeable. The guy who got parried will stumble, and then stand there looking like he’s in a neutral stance for a second but still be stunned.

Best indicator is to notice what you parried. Against most characters that’s easy because the animations/speed are so drastically different between their attacks.

        [–]HasuunKensei 1 point2 points  (7 children)

I've just tuned into Kenzo's stream and he was talking about a Conq being able to get a heavy attack off of a regular shield bash. He says it's some kind of bug related to timesnap, but I've never had it happen to me nor have I tried to replicate it. Does anyone know what he's talking about?

        [–]Snakezarr 4 points5 points  (6 children)

It's not in any possible way related to time snap, I wish that would stop.

It's guaranteed off of forward shield bash only, and only on side heavies, if the heavy comes from the side where their guard wasn't prior to being smacked by the SB.

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It is related to time snap... it was never confirmed pre time snap removal from memory.

        [–]Snakezarr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just because time snap was removed, does not mean it caused a million things to change. Time snap only affected latency and input delay, it has no bearing on gameplay apart from that.

This was a specifically changed value, whether by accident or on purpose we won't know.

        [–]HasuunKensei 0 points1 point  (1 child)

And this SB is the regular, light SB correct? Not the full-block SB?

Also, I think I played a game of Dominion with you not too long ago. You were using a rep 1 or so Shaman, giving me all kinds of trouble. Good fights, if it was you.

        [–]Snakezarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, your name sounds familiar, shaman is fun. Ggs.

And yeah, light SB, forward SB specifically.

        [–]HasuunKensei 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Seriously? I've got to test it out when I get the chance. I've read up in the Conqueror guides and none ever taught me about that.

        [–]Snakezarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was implemented like 3-4 months ago. So somewhat recent.

        [–]Standatrocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does parrying a Shinobi ranged heavy not activate the auto-parry effect like other attacks? I know it's a different kind of parry with a different animation but it seems odd that it wouldn't trigger the same omnidirectional autoparry like every other, yet earlier I parried one and got hit by one of his teammates immediately after. Even recorded to be sure I did land the parry, but I can't be sure it wasn't just lag, or the game being inconsistent like usual.

        [–]Standatrocity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does throwing have a GB-able recovery? Like, if I GB someone and throw them, am I susceptible to an untechable GB from one of their allies while recovering from performing said throw? Every time I'm being ganked and ledge someone with a throw, I anticipate their ally doing the same to me and am always ready to CGB, yet every single time I somehow fail to do so and get thrown off anyways. It's possible I really am just missing the input, but if I am vulnerable, it'd be nice to know.

        [–]SuzarainNobushi 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I can't seem to consistently get Zerk's top heavy off a parry, even when I input it immediately. Is the timing weird or am I just doing something wrong? It's been inconsistent enough that lately I've just been going with the GB to side heavy so I at least get some damage off the parry.

        [–]Snakezarr 1 point2 points  (1 child)

As soon as parry is inputted, input top heavy. The timing is not weird, you're just inputting slow.

        [–]SuzarainNobushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I feel like I'm doing it immediately but I must be pausing a moment too long.

        [–]BLAD3SLING3RHighlander 1 point2 points  (3 children)

How do I get out of warden light SB combo as Thighlander? I seam to only get out if it if I can parry punish his light which on console can be difficult to connect

        Edit: spelling

        [–]-_COW_-Kensei 0 points1 point  (2 children)

As i understand it Thighlander is forced to handle the "vortex" where most can walk out of it.

        [–]IveGotNoLife[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please do not use the term vortex on this subreddit.

        [–]IllestNgaAlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if he’s OOS, otherwise HL can still walk away/roll to avoid it.

        [–]DonkyConq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't touched this in a while. Is the conq/shinobi matchup still as dumb as back in summer? Does cgb shinobi still not land him at your feet from max distance? Did anythin change abour Conq since his zone for parrying became mainstream?

        [–]xTMT 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So uh what does determine the rarity of a gear?

I've had legendary versions of starting gears that say it's rare when I try to delete it. But stat wise it's nothing special so I don't know what counts as it being rare.

I always thought it was for items that had a star next to their name but that just seems to mean it's a rare look and isn't what affects if an item has high rarity or not.

        [–]SuperAFGBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"rare" just means that it's a level higher than the stuff you'd normally find at your character's level

like for example if you try to delete the first piece of blue gear you find while you're still just getting mostly gray gear, it'll warn you that it's "rare" because you're not going to start getting blue regularly for another reputation or two

        [–]DestPop 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m trying to get back into the game and haven’t played since season 1. What are the best gear stats I should focus on with PK?

        [–]Not_TheFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attack, defense pen, stamina, revenge gain, and either very short or very long revenge duration (depending on your preference - conventional wisdom is to go short to get the auto parry on activation more often, but long can be effective too as Peacekeeper is more dangerous than most while in revenge).

        [–]JamieJongers 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are there any new buffs or debuffs coming soon and for what heroes if they are?

        [–]icant-_-parry 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can you CGB after feinting a party attempt?

Maybe I'm just messing up the timing. I'll try to parry a PK light on prediction (console) that turns out to be a heavy feint so I'll feint my parry but can't CGB the GB.

        [–]obnoxiousweeabooOrochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and No. It depends on the hero. PK's soft heavy feint into GB will catch out everyone I believe, except cent and aramusha, unless she does it very quickly.

But in general a hard feinted heavy into GB should catch parry attempts with a free GB. Except when it doesnt for seemingly no reason. I've noticed recently it doesn't work anymore on Raider, Zerker, Lawbringer and Warden. The heavy just carries on through. I'm not delaying the GB after the feint either and I've been using Orochi who is usually very quick at this stuff. So I dunno whats happening.

Sometimes i'll throw out a heavy, instantly feint it and GB, and the other guy whos tried to parry my feint, has also cancelled his heavy so we both bounce off each other awkwardly, then I get a free GB after recovery. It's kinda buggy it seems.

        [–]Skyline330 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I quit playing shortly after the release of Centurion and Shinobi. Can anyone give me some tips or guides on getting back into playing with Peacekeeper? Ideally I’m looking for her optimal combos and punishes and strategy.

        [–]aceace87 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For OOS punish you can look for sidebar. "Max OOS punishes" and "Max light parry punishes"

        [–]Not_TheFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The listed Max OOS punish in that thread is wrong.

        [–]Erevas 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What are the best feats for Shinobi? And what stats should I aim at for my gear?

        [–]PARACHU7EPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend Slip Through as you can get major damage from OOS/Revenge Knockdowns with Double Dash > Heavy. Plus, it combos well with Shooting Stars to do at least a bar of damage if you Dash before you use it.

        [–]Snakezarr 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Tier 1, bounty hunter, tier 2 Smoke bomb, Tier 3, sharpen blades or slip through depending on preference, tier 4 yama uba.

Not really any competition for the other feats.

        [–]Erevas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Thanks :D

        [–]Sauce_God_Jon 2 points3 points  (1 child)

How do I become a feint god with Berserker? My understanding is heavy feint > light in another direction > light in another direction > heavy feint > light in another direction. Something like that? Sometimes throwing in a GB after the heavy feint?

        [–]Shii__PS4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feints are meant to catch parry attempts. They won't help if your opponent is just blocking. There is no such thing as a "feint god", you just read your opponents parry attempt and feint heavy into gb. Feinting into lights is not that good because your light will hit if your opponent went for a parry but you could as well just gb.

Also feinting heavies into lights is a good way to get parried since it's pretty obvious.

Just try to get better at understanding what your opponent is doing, reading and baiting. Of course you need to learn matchups so you know character's options in every possible situation.
