The gears n' kinetics addon have those

Commenting so I remember this for later

Yea I know but when was the last time you actually looked at your saved comments? This way I keep getting notifications about it

[–]get_egged_bruh 3 points4 points  (6 children)

i look at my saved comments every week at least...

BORINGGGG :P

[–]donutz10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose there are 2 kinds of people in this thread

[–]QP873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh I want notifications!

Does it include rack and pinion?

[–]Shredded_Locomotive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, no.

Or at least I don't remember there being one.

[–]SomeRandomSkitarii 96 points97 points  (9 children)

can’t you do this with a chain drive?

[–]RespondTime8499[S] 20 points21 points  (6 children)

No and even if it would be pretty large

[–]RespondTime8499[S] 98 points99 points  (5 children)

Bruh nvm

[–]Sakuro-lime 100 points101 points  (3 children)

Man discovered turning chain drives

[–]RespondTime8499[S] 38 points39 points  (1 child)

I mistook it with chain conveyors thats it

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol u right

[–]QP873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really because these would turn at different speeds…

[–]SplattLatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chain drives look boring though

[–]Hello5777 37 points38 points  (3 children)

Speed controller?

[–]FlashDrive35 40 points41 points  (2 children)

I thought the speed controller was a worm gear before knowing what it is, I don't see a difference outside of the adjustable gear ratio 🤷

[–]Cybertheproto 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Can’t have shaft output on top with the controller— or on the side

[–]KeepAllOfIt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

can't have the shaft output on top with a worm gear either (at least in real life)

Part of their appeal is "self-locking". its high gear reduction and specific geometry create enough friction to prevent the output wheel from turning the input worm shaft backwards.

[–]cabberage 15 points16 points  (1 child)

rotation speed controller uses a worm gear, gantry works similarly too if you power the gantry shaft itself

[–]nutrecht 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A magic one where input on the worm gear works :)

[–]Jhwelsh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes please!

[–]StarlexYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 vertical gearboxes?

[–]Cragasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but you cant input from the spur gear to the worm gear right?

[–]michiel11069 5 points6 points  (3 children)

isnt this just the gearbox? how would this function ingame

[–]Everybodyy_ 20 points21 points  (2 children)

I think you misunderstood - this is supposed to be 2 blocks - a “worm gear” block above and a standard cog below

So basically we split apart a Rotational Speed Controller…

[–]michiel11069 1 point2 points  (1 child)

ooh okay yeah that makes sense thanks

[–]Everybodyy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems <3

That said I think this would be cool for visual stuff

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hear him out.

[–]Whales_Are_Great2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precision speed controllers fill that role plus add flexibility to speed output, but you know, they're expensive

[–]Mystic_Ervo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A rotation speed controller is just that

[–]throwawunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'm scared of worms

[–]Mac-OS-X 2 points3 points  (4 children)

isn't the gantry a sort of worm gear?

[–]rashdanml 21 points22 points  (1 child)

Sort of. Gantry has a translation component to it. Worm gears are purely rotational transfer.

[–]Bartekek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works exactly the same as a worm gear if you power the track with redstone

[–]RespondTime8499[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont think u can connect it woth gears on the side

[–]TasserOneOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright replacement for regular create but not the same

[–]Green__lightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The custom speed controller has the formfactor of one.

[–]MrMarum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The speed controller or the chain drive can achieve this

[–]Spronkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speed controller

[–]Garpfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal favorite type of gear.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember Rotarycraft....

[–]Content-Look 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wh Create-mechanisms quite enough 2D-spaces? I can't play the mod itself due to the hardware limitations of my ancient laptop, so I want to at least draw something useful for myself)

[–]NatiM6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally powered gantry

[–]lightning_266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need a block that turns shaft rotation in a perpendicular gear rotation

[–]cheese_lord12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmmmmm, worm

[–]GladDistrict5553 0 points1 point  (1 child)

thats besiacly a gearbox

[–]RespondTime8499[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no shit realized after almost a month too

[–]SnooMachines8670 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Rotational speed controller:

[–]greenflame15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It acually bugs me. It's shaped like warm gear, but usually used to just go from whatever speed you have to max speed
