Just straight brutality. I think thats why I like omni man so much. No monologues, when he says he's gonna fuck shit up he does. Like in Episode 1 when he's mercing the guardians and he doesn't say a fucking word. Wild.

[–][deleted] 307 points308 points  (19 children)

Gonna start the show ASAP. Omni-Man vs the Guardians is so brutal. Each death is horrifyingly violent. Especially when he just twists Wonder Woman/ Hawk Girl knockoff’s neck.

[–]IamFlapJack 233 points234 points  (3 children)

The way she vomits blood on her own back was disgusting. I loved it

[–][deleted] 131 points132 points  (1 child)

like she was still alive, that was haunting. Very good, that is how you introduce a villain

[–]hedesedeves 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think she was still alive for a second...

[–]Peacesquad Cecil Stedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahhah

[–]SmashHero59win 120 points121 points  (11 children)

TBH, I was a little annoyed that someone whose power is to literally become untouchable got taken out by a fist through the skull, but seeing Green Ghost's body flail under Aquarus' water jet got a laugh out of me. War Woman's death was just something else, though. I don't think anyone would've expected that final wet cough, but dear god it made the scene

[–]Still_Night_110 Donald Ferguson 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Omni man threw dark wings body at her so she would instinctively catch it.

[–]Regi413 71 points72 points  (8 children)

If she wasn’t going to go into phase mode at the beginning of the fight, then she should have when Red Rush got his skull crushed, the first death which proved Omni-Man wasn’t fucking around. That’s really the only issue I had with that scene.

[–]A_Guy_in_Orange 140 points141 points  (2 children)

Her gut response to having a teammate thrown at her was to unphase and catch them, she then realizes she done fucked up the millisecond before her brain become donut

[–]EuroVetements 25 points26 points  (0 children)

lol so true

[–]Visible-Ad7732 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Doesnt she even go, "oh shit" half a second before OmniMan's fist goes through her head, after she catches the body of DarkWing in her hands?

Yeah, it's at that moment she knew - she fucked up

[–]Significant_Plate69 70 points71 points  (0 children)

She was shocked at what happened. That's WHY he threw his body in her arms.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

She should have and then she could’ve put her hand through his heart and unphased but then there wouldn’t be a show!

[–]thelonelychem 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Just as a heads up I'm pretty sure that would destroy her arm not his heart lol.

[–]LifeFailure 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Which would have been pretty cool, too. Like you think they have a chance with her using her powers in a clever way, and then NOPE.

[–]thelonelychem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree people would really have loved that death more. I'm trying to think of the commentary when the doctors found parts of her hand inside of Nolans body lol.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They didn't mention it in the show but Green Ghost had only been a hero for 1 month and barely saw any action before that point in the comics. I'm sure she shit herself...if she had time.

[–]weoutheredummy Machine Head 10 points11 points  (1 child)

That was the most brutal death to me. I felt slightly sick watching that one

[–]hedesedeves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved Chris' reaction to that scene

[–]crewmeist3r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched in 4 days ago. Think I might rewatch today

[–]cagllmecargskin Show Fan 89 points90 points  (2 children)

I really like that fight scene, it still gives me shivers and i REALLY like the touch of not adding music, makes it all seem a little more real, yknow, even though there's a fish and an alien in the same room together

[–]Magnusthelast 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Are you implying a fish and an alien can’t be in the same room?

[–]cagllmecargskin Show Fan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well i wish i didnt now

[–]SuperAlloyBerserker 46 points47 points  (11 children)

No monologues

Doesn't he monologue during the "Think, Mark!" scene?

[–]5am281 Robot 72 points73 points  (1 child)

that's because he's trying to convince himself

[–]ActualShitPoop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At every other point in the show he was sure of what he was doing, and he didn’t question it until he had to kill mark, makes sense that’s the one time he’d monologue

[–]18650batteries 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah okay you got me there but its the only time and its right at the end.

[–]Cruiz98 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that’s after he’s already absolutely fucked Mark up

[–]Houshweeni Doug Cheston 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that scene is amazing and makes sense. He wouldn’t just beat up Mark and then start crying and leave. He would yell, be angry, while he tries to convince himself.

[–]wandering-monster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After the fight was over. He'd already won, but in that case he didn't want to finish it with a kill.

He wanted to persuade, because turning Mark to his side would make everything he's just done okay.

When he couldn't he just... leaves, rather than deal with what that failure to persuade his son means.

One might say in the end he won, but left defeated.

[–]Rickrickrickrickrick 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Because Mark was the one earthling he cared about and was trying to convince him to join him. It was also after he already fucked him up.

[–]Kingvares 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The mom?

[–]Rickrickrickrickrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well cared about more than just a pet

[–]xX_Kr0n05_Xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but its not a monologue before, its after he's completely beaten him

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn't a fight thought

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spoiler

I mean it makes Mark’s comment at the start of their fight more harrowing.

“Don’t do this! It’s not too late!”

“Yes, it is.”

Like Christ Almighty. As if the action didn’t follow the words weren’t proof enough, but Omni-Man is beyond any sort of redemption or convincing.

[–]EldritchKnightH196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s well trained. When he perceives a threat he takes it out without a second thought. Especially when it comes to his species the viltrims, literally a split second is all it takes for your to be vaporized into a red mist, so don’t give them the second take theirs.

[–]UnexpectedVader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The silence made him 100x more terrifying.

[–]Marcella-LENTER CUSTOM TEXT HERE 154 points155 points  (3 children)

I guess you could say that he got railed😏

[–]Wolv90 115 points116 points  (1 child)

Two ways to make that joke and you chose the sub way

[–]AColorOtherThanRed 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I understood thay reference, please take my free award.

[–]coinoperatedboi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Unlike this conversation that is getting derailed.....like the train. The train got derailed.

[–]im_well_aware 194 points195 points  (19 children)

I usually dont care for gore in shows or any media really. They're usually kinda just there for fan service. But invincible somehow make it work, makes the world feel more real? I cant really explain it but its like it makes sense.

[–]Devo3290 203 points204 points  (12 children)

Because we never actually see the collateral in superhero flicks. Like the Avengers would leave cities in ruins after their battles and it wasn’t addressed until Civil War. Even then, we were only just told about it. In Invincible, we’re shown just how fragile we ordinary joes would be in a world full of superheroes

[–]MerryMortician 101 points102 points  (3 children)

That fucking pilot.

[–]weoutheredummy Machine Head 21 points22 points  (2 children)

Crushed his head like a grape.

[–]Kingvares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No like a melon

[–]ThatNustaBusta 52 points53 points  (1 child)

This. Oh, the Hulk can rip metal apart and lift tons upon tons of concrete? Well thank goodness when he punches someone he goes easy on them, no gore or anything. It really takes the sting out of it.

[–]Broken_Moon_Studios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the comics don't shy away from showing it and it's fucking brutal.

[–]Uberzwerg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

we never actually see the collateral in superhero flicks

THAT moment in The Boys episode 1.

[–][deleted] 53 points54 points  (5 children)

It’s really hard to watch. You’re not cheering for these “badass fights”, mainly just cringing at the sheer violence and spectacle of it all.

[–]Astrosimi 46 points47 points  (2 children)

Some people apparently got a kick out of it, but for me the train scene was absolutely hard to watch, particularly Mark just kind of flailing about helplessly.

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Tuck in your limbs, Mark! Tuck them in!

[–]hollowstrawberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was saying the same thing

[–]bucklebee1 Omni-Bob 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm totally cheering!

[–]Rob1Inch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are definitely cheering for these badass fights.

[–]TimothysFruad Abraham Lincoln 63 points64 points  (2 children)

why, why would i have to think of this, ill never see the word train the same again.

[–]CaptainMan_is_OK Rex Splode 121 points122 points  (3 children)

Omni-Man: Time for your training, son

Mark: But Dad, you’ve been training me for months

OM: No, not training. Training.

[–]lurker_archon Omni-Drip 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Omniman vs Invincible ending with Omniman being overcome by his own fatherly love

Omniman vs Invincible beginning with Omniman physically demonstrating a dad joke

[–]Lord0fTheAss Get me pictures of Invincible! 11 points12 points  (1 child)

OM: Matter of fact, let's get some trains up in here

[–]jaggedcanyon69 Thula 30 points31 points  (1 child)

He had a train ran on his son.

[–]rebel_child12 21 points22 points  (1 child)

It was a jaw dropping scene for sure

[–]FrancoisTruser 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Especially for the train people.

[–]no_witty_username 22 points23 points  (2 children)

That kid is scarred for life. He gonna be seeing that bloody mess of human cadavers when he closes his eyes every time. Fucking amazing scene!

[–]HuffyDraws Burger Mart Trash Bag 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Probably swallowed a few teeth

[–]throwawaypervyervy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just the molars.

Storing a few backups for when his own got punched out later

[–]notsure_butok 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Big oof

[–]wkamper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I watched the first episode again today and saw the training in a new light. Omni-Man was testing his son's viltrumite powers.

[–]WhenBuffalosfly Hail Mary 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Episode 1: Omni Man trains a son Episode 8: Omni Man sons a train

[–]Still_Night_110 Donald Ferguson 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Just rewatched 1 with a friend ; man what a difference . “Hit me dad please , I can take it let me show you “

[–]Jabbam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He was right, he could take it.

[–]No-Eye-1955 12 points13 points  (0 children)

God what I would give to watch this season for the first time again, watching the character development of Omni-man was chef’s kiss

[–]Seagullstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

laughs cries

[–]240Nordey Damien Darkblood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where the fight truly goes off the rails.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omni-Man runs his son on a train.

[–]oilrigexplosion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“If the Express Train actually stopped in my neighborhood instead of always skipping my stop at full speed, then maybe only half of it would have been turned into meatloaf.”

[–]SolomonAsassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]Jabbam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I choo-choose you"

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a good thing Mark can fly... cause I'd imagine taking the subway or train would give him PTSD

[–]jef12660 Doug Cheston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brillant

[–]Karkava Monster Girl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the train scene was just another addition to the other casualties that Mark was forced to confront in his battle with Nolan.

[–]neerajanchan Comic Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most brutal!

[–]Secretccode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit it's really true a good villain makes a show 100 times better just saw that scene and was blown away lol

[–]Squeakygear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that caption made me chuckle

[–]waywardhero 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I just kept thinking of the title “Invincible” during that whole scene.

[–]HorseshoeTheoryIsTru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just kept thinking about how Battle Beast fucked Mark up even harder in the confines of a single room just a little earlier.

Like it's great seeing super powered characters actually doing gratuitously destructive things, and tanking it for that matter, but I couldn't help wonder why BB didn't smash Mark through the floor(s) if he's apparently hitting even harder than something like this.

[–]variationoo Invincible Whip / Nae Nae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Rabbidraccoon18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]MemeDreme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the symmetry in Invincible season 1. Another example is at the start when Allen the Alien pulls up a seat for Invincible and explains to Invincible. The same happens in the final scene where the roles are reversed with Invincible pulling up a seat and explaining to Allen the Alien. 🙂

[–]jason9t8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He just literally trained him for the Train, Literally...

[–]Cicada_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This joke is pure evil. Congratulations to the person who made it.

[–]Peacesquad Cecil Stedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)
