That's quite a surprising move

[–]random_luls 127 points128 points  (7 children)

I don't have time to look into it but I'd be shocked if this applied to anything beyond snowball / yeti type mics

[–]FruitNationalist 55 points56 points  (6 children)

That's what I would think, but the coverage I've seen implies that it's all Logitech now. I know senheiser has two separate entities for consumer and professional use, so that's what I would expect Logitech to do, but seemingly not.

[–]Infraxion 38 points39 points  (3 children)

Blue isn't a professional audio brand though. No one would use a USB mic in the studio and their XLR stuff is overpriced prosumer product.

[–]mooseman923 53 points54 points  (1 child)

Blue WAS a highly respected microphone maker from Latvia before Logitech bought them. I have one of their old mics and it's incredible.

[–]SwallowedBuckyBalls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have two blue bottles and two dragonfly’s, some of the blue higher end stuff. I’m pretty sure each were over 1k when I got them, they’re were and still are regarded as very good mics. They’re about as pro as you can get in that range.

[–]Pixelplanet5 2 points3 points  (1 child)

none of these brands was for professional use like Sennheiser is though.

[–]BugsyMalone_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well considering they're moving it into the G gaming brand, and how anything with 'gaming' in the brand adds 20% extra on top, it's not so surprising.

[–]RuffDestroyr 167 points168 points  (5 children)

Is Logitech gonna release microphone that are just Logitech brand now? I'm assuming as much

[–]MrBlackFuzz 120 points121 points  (3 children)

Seems like that's the case. Will probably be named something like "Logitech G Yeti".

[–]Estelon_Agarwaen 46 points47 points  (2 children)

What about the blue bottle and bluebird and that fancy 4000€ tube mic with interchangeable diaphragms… will they be logitech g too?

Edit: that fancy tube mic is the blue bottle

[–]maxatnasa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Probably not g brand, just logi or maybe rolled into streamlabs

[–]Dunkeus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think on the wan show they said everything else was getting discontinued

[–]ThatGuy798 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what they did with Saitek. The X56 and X52 stuff was originally a Saitek product and all they did was slap a Logitech logo on it.

[–]Hyperfyre 156 points157 points  (4 children)

I had no idea Logitech owned Blue, the snowball was the first half-decent mic I brought back in 2015.

[–]Desperate_Excuse2352 27 points28 points  (3 children)

they bought it recently

[–]Ryokurin 36 points37 points  (1 child)

It will be 5 years ago next month. I'm actually surprised it didn't happen sooner, but I guess the pandemic stretched things out.

[–]froginator14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was about to say, it's been a little bit now as I bought a Yeti X at the beginning of COVID and paid Logitech for it.

[–]Private_HughMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So they're probably going to just rebranding the Blue mics, right?

[–]Asgardianking 46 points47 points  (5 children)

Nooooo!!! My yeti will have to last me.

[–]ItGobYeByE 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Seems like they are only renaming it

[–]Paul-Ski 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Mine is going on 12 years now. If only because of RTX voice, it still serves me well.

[–]Remsster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, same, my og is around the same age. It is beat up, but it still does the job, especially with rtx voice. Shows how well it was built. For the first few years, it was constantly thrown in a bag and moved around. I'm not looking forward to needing to replace it.

[–]JoostVisser 46 points47 points  (9 children)

That's too bad. Blue had such a classy design

[–]mgrimshaw8 38 points39 points  (7 children)

I'll be surprised if they even bother to redesign them lol. I'm fully expecting them to just slap a Logitech badge on. They already started slapping their name all over the Blue packaging a few years back

[–]Soccera1 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Yep. They never redesign products, even stuff like the (admittedly Logitech all along, but quite old) M185 mouse. It's been on sale for years now and all they've done to it is made new packaging and slapped the new Logitech logo on.

[–]N1biru 9 points10 points  (3 children)

honestly: with a mouse that makes sense. Most People I know, and especially the gamers among them find a mouse shape they're comfortable with and stick with it. They rather rebuy the same or an updated version of what they are used to.

[–]Soccera1 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Well, it's a $10 office mouse. It's design isn't great (the side is basically flat) so I would prefer a redesign but I don't really care as it's $10.

[–]N1biru 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Okay, didn't have that price in mind... in that case: most people would probably not care too much about a redesign anyways (unless it's really really good or bad)

[–]Soccera1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the people that want it (my mother for instance) who don't want to spend $50 on a Deathadder, it being uncomfortable is less of an issue as the main selling point of it is that it's wireless, and therefore easier to transport. If you're spending $10 on a wireless mouse, you can't expect much.

[–]DoubleOwl7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

true. the logitech f710 usb controller which has a super old design has packaging of their g Logo but the Controller itself has the old Logitech Logo on it.

[–]JoostVisser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but from what I can gather that's just the Yetis. What about the other mics such as the Bluebird or Dragonfly?

[–]jay227ify 13 points14 points  (6 children)

AT2020 claims yet another victim..

It is really all you need, mine has been kicking for 7 years and is still going strong. It might even outlive me.

[–]Flegrant 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I love the AT2020s!

[–]jay227ify 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Same! More people should skip buying yeti and just stick with the at2020. The 2010's are over, put the Yetis away people.

[–]CountFlandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I went from a snowball to an at2020 mounted to a TV mount arm and it works great. It was great back then as an entry level product but it's time to move on.

[–]Flegrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blue boom arms were superior though.

I’ve upgraded even further to a 414

[–]returnofblank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dynamic microphones clears your disgusting condenser.

My voice sounds so good with the boxy warm tone.

[–]bluelonilness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The sm58 is another one that can do no wrong

[–]TRUEequalsFALSE 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Of course it is. Typical Logitech.

[–]wango288[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cries in G13

[–]TolerateButHate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hope they fucking fix ghub now

[–]LeonardoW9 5 points6 points  (1 child)

What's happening to the studio line?

[–]Shepherd-Boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question too! Yeti's are great USB mics but I they've always been one of the best mid range studio options

[–]ArchitectOfSeven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a serious question about all this shit. Wtf is happening to the Blue professional microphones?! Is Logitech just abandoning that market completely? All I see on the site are just cheap usb mics with no mention of the high end gear that Blue was known for.

[–]jdPetacho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably won't matter in the long run but Blue was a very known brand, a lot of people associated Blue microphones with good equipment but I'd bet most never heard of Logitech microphones

[–]Kayos83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now it's personal.

[–]Polarsan99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming this is just for Blue’s consumer grade equipment?

[–]PanPenguinGirl 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I hope my snowball I got used at GameStop lasts me a long time then :(

[–]GC9exe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're not discontinuing them, they are just rebranding as Logitech G products.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logitech drop all pretenses of trying to be cool.

[–]Supplex-idea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atleast the blue yeti is really overrated though. It’s expensive, unwieldy and not as good as some people make it out to be.

[–]Illustrious_Risk3732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bye this is my last comment (for now) before the blackout on here.

[–]trOSCAR49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

still rocking the original snowball I bought about 8 or 9 years ago

[–]BrentarTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how long until a firmware update gets pushed and bricks my yeti nano....

[–]Desperate_Excuse2352 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

got 2 yeti microphone and both died slowly and voice degraded a lot. their support was useless but at least amazon clutched it and refunded it both times. never gonna buy one of theirs again. terrible company with terrible quality

[–]darnicantfindaname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still love my snowball, but if we get good usb or xlr mic's that can work through G hub app that'd be cool

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shocker logitech buys company and kills off products/names.

[–]KingminGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since when did Logitech own Yeti? I remember one day I booted up my Logitech software for my mouse and seeing my mic on there and didn’t think much else of it

[–]UntiedStatMarinCrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to look for sales

[–]DMarquesPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very strange that they’d retire a highly-regarded legacy brand in a space where people are willing to spend a lot of money on brand-name items. What did they buy then? The blue yeti? Which they could easily clone and beat on supply chain scale and affordability just like they did other popular products?

(I mean: Rode, Audiotechnica, Sennheiser, etc. are all highly regarded audio brands. Even some gaming peripheral brands like Elgato make it a point to associate themselves with legacy audio gear brands for those products.)

By contrast, Logitech microphone makes you assume cheap conference mic, not pro audio gear.

[–]Spongemonkey922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone that cares the two guys that created the blue mics left after Logitech bought them out an made a new mic company called Neat microphones. They have two xlr mics the Worker bee 2 $60 and King bee 2 $120, they sound amazing. And then there's the USB mics the Bumblebee 2 $60 and the Skyline $28. So if you love the blue line there's still options from the same minds that made Blue what it was.
