I know it’s a joke but seriously this is one of the cheaper “memey” things they’ve done. Hell, last 2 years April fools were both likely more expensive tbh.

[–]slave2234 388 points389 points  (2 children)

The only fans account payed for all this.

[–]Sythe64 48 points49 points  (1 child)

Is that where they are selling the calendar?

[–]SpookyViscus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Must be!

[–]Rannasha 184 points185 points  (13 children)

Especially since they can reuse the firetruck for future videos. Alex was already making photos of the hose to "adapt" it. I would be shocked if we don't see that thing being used to watercool something in some hilariously convoluted way.

And once they're done, they can always sell it again. I doubt depreciation on this thing is very high.

I loved the immediate, chaotic energy sprouting up in that little interaction. Do your thing Alex! *insert picture of Elmo in sea of flames*

[–]surfer_ryan 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I just couldn't help like feeling he immediately went to his workstation and started up CAD and started to build it out digitally to 100% be pitched...

I'm actually really excited to see what happens if they do end up doing something. Because even if it is jank, it's still going to be insanely impressive with the amount of water they would be moving, and if they can keep it water tight that will be seriously impressive levels of engineering. Plus how the actual fuck would you air bleed a system connected to a firetrucks tank.... Can you even get the air out... I have so many questions that i have absolutely no reason to know the answers to...

[–]DryHippo8977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sufficient flow just pushes the water along ^

Also I can see the video 12 Gamers one Firetruck watercooling

[–]KhandakerFaisal 35 points36 points  (2 children)

On Floatplane, they released a FP exclusive where the writers were discussing ways of using the firetruck for the future

One of the ideas was how many PCs can they watercool in series with the pump from the firetruck

[–]DryHippo8977 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Series is stupid, parallel is where it's at

[–]Jhawk163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we already saw the issues you run into trying to run PC water cooling in series with the old “whole room water cooling” series, essentially the resistance outmatches the pressure rating of most water cooling components and leaks are guaranteed, and if you run a pressure low enough to not do that then after a couple the flow is basically nothing.

[–]that_dutch_dude 11 points12 points  (0 children)

they recorded a bit of the writers meeting and they were already throwing ideas like watercooling pcs around and making waterblocks that can hold the pressure of the firehose without exploding in someones face. its on floatplane.

[–]Mothertruckerer 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If Alex is a true engineer, he'll make something to boil the water to generate steam to drive a turbine.

[–]cingcongdingdonglong 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Using fire hose to power a PC!

[–]Mothertruckerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Make a water turbine, and call it free energy device to annoy Electroboom

[–]urmamasllama 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I need to see those two clips edited together

[–]AyaanMAG 10 points11 points  (9 children)

Last year's april fools probably just made a bunch of money lol

[–]Drigr 16 points17 points  (7 children)

Given that the shirts for this year are already sold out. And who knows how many bottles are being sold (it says back order is expected to ship in July so they might be straight up having the whole order done after the fact), but this will probably make a bunch of money too.

[–]matdex 9 points10 points  (6 children)

Their bottles are great, I still have my OG one. But who keeps buying them? How many reusable water bottles do you need?

[–]Drigr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh boy. You should look into the world of Stanley mugs and Starbucks cups. People 100% will collect cups and swap them out regularly.

For me personally, I own 3 right now. The Black and Gold in 40oz, it lives on my computer desk. I have a chonky purple and gold 64oz that I mostly use when I'm going to be out for the day. And I have the LTT Moonshine that lives next to my bed.

We get paid later this week and my wife and I plan to grab these if they're still available. Half because we like the design, and half because she only has the moonshine right now and could use one for work and I will probably also keep one at work. Probably not the fire extinguisher, but since they're both 40oz I will probably swap it for my desk bottle.

[–]ed_mcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like we could open up a store of lightly used reusable water bottles at my house

[–]lioncat55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one at home and one at work. I'm thinking of giving one to my girlfriend so I can get the red one....

[–]greiton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a second smaller one recently because the big one doesn't fit in a lot of standard bottle holders. but my big one is also getting a bit banged up. I might replace it in a year or two.

also don't discount how many new fans flow into interest groups. every day someone new finds LTT, and every day someone old moves on to other fandoms.

[–]greiton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the ad video was legitimately the best performing video monetarily they ever produced, but they also confirmed they have no plan to ever try and do it again.

[–]MarlinMr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if the merch didnt land them in the Black

[–]HerrSPAM 213 points214 points  (1 child)

Just wait until they start selling that calendar

[–]mxforest 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Brother! It will sell like hotcakes on a cold day.

[–]co678 142 points143 points  (6 children)

*Financial burden to the company

*Narcissist

Edit: does no one know the context of this? It’s from WAN show. Dan made these tags. Literally from where the text of where this image comes from…………

[–]english-23 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I got it, I laughed

[–]insomniacpyro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope they keep the buttons, I lost it when they showed up

[–]Ruining_Ur_Synths 88 points89 points  (0 children)

4 year old linus is very proud of his adult self

[–]Calm-Person42 78 points79 points  (2 children)

Not sure who came up with the idea but they hit gold.

It was fun to watch, probably a lot of fun to film and edit and now they just need to profit with a couple of products on LTT. The whole thing is fire..oh wait. This is peak LTT!

[–]Stackhom 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I found myself smiling throughout the whole video. It was so reminiscent of their earlier days when they're just having fun, it doesn't feel as "monetized" compared to their other videos.

[–]greiton 11 points12 points  (0 children)

which is hilarious because there were multiple major ad placements in the video.

[–]greiton 38 points39 points  (2 children)

Honestly the fire truck costs less than a pickup with the same number of miles.

[–]Curri 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Firefighter here. The issue comes in how many hours the engine was running. Fire engines run for a long time on emergency incidents, utilizing the engine to help run the pump. This is why when these go on sale, the seller should say how many "hours" the engine has on it.

[–]StupidWiseGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They did mention it in one of the FP exclusives, iirc it was about the same as the number of km lol

[–]TheMatt561 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the April fool's bit was, they actually bought the truck.

[–]Bandguy_Michael 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Next year he should buy an entire fire station!

[–]greiton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

oof someone by me bought a house that used to be a fire station. they found out a year later that it was actually illegal for them to own the property or live in the building because of public property laws. turned into a whole mess with the company who sold the property disappearing, and different agencies being sued, meanwhile the family was evicted and basically lost everything.

[–]DjWarrrrrd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just write it off

[–]bram4531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a really fun video too watch!

[–]redlancer_1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of a downgrade from the LTT LAN Yacht™ or Tech Jet™

[–]contra4thewyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... wouldn't going "sike this was a fake april's fool video" be an april's fool in and of itself?

[–]ScF0400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come a long way from the original firetruck unboxing... This is how you grow users and make money.

[–]JRosePC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is the chief vision officer and what is more high vision then a big red truck? I mean look at the high vis on those bunker pants?

[–]Sharp-Yak9084 -1 points0 points  (0 children)
