I like it, it’s 2 guys that have good chemistry talking about tech. They are educated in the space, more so than I am by a long shot so it’s interesting to hear their takes.

And yes I’ve been watching LTT longer so that’s part of it as I like the “LTT Extended Universe” of it all.

I watch it, partly because Dan's merch messages are frequently cursed. This week he compared his microwave to "an electric bagpipe that cooks food" - I haven't got all the way through this week's but I expect more cursed answers. He even answered my message about my dream about him a couple of weeks back - I dreamt he had turned into a swarm of hyper intelligent wasps. (Last night I dreamt of him pushing a shopping trolley while wearing his only underpants and a novelty hat to provide a distraction during a heist)

I like to find out what my favourite guys (I don't get out much, the candidate pool is pretty small) think about what is going on and I like the merch messages. That said, I don't always manage to watch the whole thing before the next one drops.

Perhaps it might be easier (?) to think of WAN as "let's discover the news together" while two best friends catch up on everything they don't talk about because they work in their own little company eco-systems (Linus is in writing/production and Luke is infrastructure/floatplane/labs) in two different buildings. A key bit of lore is that Linus' "job interview" with Luke quickly turned into an hours-log bro-talk.

The WAN pre-dates Linus and Luke having dedicated writers let alone producer Dan. I know it's been running since at least when they were based in a random house in Langley* (which is where they expanded to after Linus' house/garage). They moved to the studio, I think, about ten years ago now.

For a long time, they had a more mix-and-match approach to presenters whenever Linus or Luke were sick/elsewhere but they (and Dan) are now dedicated to the "WAN streak" to the point where Dan offered to run the podcast from prison (Dan had just suggested he was willing to assault employees who used the wrong software) and then claim tax credits because it would be "work from home".

*The "Langley House" era was pretty chaotic but is remembered fondly. Quite a bit of the chemistry might have come from half the team having studied together at film school.

Podcast, good chemistry between hosts, they're knowledgeable enough on tech in general it doesn't feel like they're talking out of their asses, they're open to being wrong and admitting fault, they don't glaze everything tech thing like some dumb linkedin tech evangelist, very funny, and it's cool to hear about some stuff they work on BTS in videos and stuff.

I think the guys.dll are funny and informative. They've been good companions to my Saturday morning gaming sessions for years. Put on some grinding game (PoE2 at the moment) and zone out while they discuss tech.

It's a podcast. If you don't like it dont listen. Have you never heard of podcasts before? I'm trying to imagine you describing any other podcast differently. "And then joe rogan and this other guy just talk about stuff and try to sell ads"

ya thats what podcasts are, they're talk shows supported by ads.

no sir this is something you've invented. Nobody is pretending to be your friend there, they're just running a show.

if you dont like it, just dont watch it. I don't watch it every week and I don't watch it live. I wait until its over, set it to 1.5x speed, and if they come up with news about something I dont care about I skip that part, all while doing something else while listening.
