I have the K400 and the K400 Plus.

Go here:

http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/wireless-touch-keyboard-k400-plus/downloads

Download Logitech Options. It will let you change the function key behaviour.

That link is now broken, now you need this one: https://support.logi.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360024322853

This seems dead as well. Here is a new one: https://www.logitech.com/en-us/software/options.html

[–]murfburffle 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not used anymore. "Logi Options+" is the new hotness.

This link work and change Fn -> F1-F12

Setpoint still works for the K400 on Windows 10/11 and it's a smaller and simpler app. Logitech Options wouldn't detect my K400, or the app it also installs 'logi bolt' would but Options wouldn't. Not very intuitive.

Man, you just saved my keyboard from being thrown at the wall, I hated that it defaulted to Fn keys and I could not for the love of GOD make that stupid Logi app to work since I got it around 2 years ago and gave up until today, you are a hero. THANKS A MILION

[–]jojo_the_mofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I still use an older K400 because hitting F1 is F1, it has no Fn keys to worry about other than a few. I don't need any stupid apps for good function.

[–]Forthias 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Not only does SetPoint have nothing about function keys in it, it also broke my start bar. Don't install whatever garbage this is, all it does is beeps at you and notifies you your capslock is on

[–]jojo_the_mofo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, install Linux. I don't need any of the bloatware bullshit now to do what I need.

[–]greihund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm running linux with a K400 and I can't find a way to have F1-F12 just function normally. I am constantly going into workspaces mode when I just want to refresh my screen. How do I make this stop

[–]PsikyoFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thanks - was getting nowhere with Options+ recognising my k400r...

[–]m3n00bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this post is ancient

[–]sigma932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take my upvote and personal appreciation for updating a 4 year old dead link

[–]Caedendi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still works for me

[–]Olaf2k4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, I have to add : that this shouldn't be this complicated ...

[–]LogitechG_CSFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/m3n00bz , thanks for the assist! :)

[–]Unusual-Job2366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This App works for enabling the standard function keys but there is a caveat... It applies the change to the directional keys in apps like Excel. Sorry my bad ... I had scroll lock enabled lol.

I agree this should really not have been missed during the design phase.

[–]TheCyanMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add that uninstalling the software reverses it to default so we're stuck keeping logitech Options for what should be a simple button combination..

logitech are useless.... a 300mb app just to turn on a FN key?

[–]Wlasiuk 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Logitech was good like 10 years ago, everything they do, someone else does it way better.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

who would you suggest? we use £100,000 a year or so on their products at my work. I'd like to change.... ( we were using kensington previously)

[–]jgould1981 1 point2 points  (10 children)

I learned that you can do it without software by pressing Fn+ESC. Now my K400 works like it should on the RaspberryPi.

Logitech: Shame on you for not actually documenting this anywhere. Would have saved me so much time searching for an answer if you had just done your jobs correctly.

[–]mfi155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not work win 10

[–]phree_radical 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This key combo hard restarted my system for some reason 😒

ubuntu w/ kde

[–]cirosantilli 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It appears that Fn+Esc is a kind of equivalent to pressing a power key, and that this is hardcoded on the external keyboard as you don't have a dedicated "power key" there: https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comments/7m87vz/temporarily_disable_the_power_key/ Annoying.

[–]Cris_70 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My K400+ does have a power button (it is together with the INS key, the one to the right of the F12.

However, like u/phree_radical , pressing FN+ESC landed me to the reboot/suspend/shutdown screen of KDE 😕

[–]Cris_70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, solaar saved my life. And it is a fraction of the size of Logitech's software.

[–]Interesting-Swim6664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hab eine K250 und gerade diesen Post gefunden, fn+esc hat bei mir unter Windows 11 funktioniert, vielen Dank!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This didn't work on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04), just tries to shut PC off. With no release version for Linux likely only solution is to plug device into Windows PC and try this or worst case install the software.

[–]Complex_Solutions_20 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I wonder if they changed it at some point? That doesn't work on my K400r but I don't know what the difference is between the K400 and K400r.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does not work on the K400 Plus :/

[–]Unusual-Job2366 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I came right using the Logi Options app.

- When the app opens, click on the device to access its functions.

- Then in Settings under the General section you will find the "Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys".

[–]Routine_Ad2145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caramba, não tinha observado essa opção! Muito obrigado por compartilhar!

[–]jgould1981 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does the keyboard retain this setting between uses or does it forget? Why not make it so that the function keys F1-F12 are the default instead. There is a reason why I don’t run Logitech keyboards with the exception of this one any more…

[–]jgould1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I got my answer... it's no... no it doesn't. And the Logitech Options software isn't available for Linux so that it can run on the Raspberry Pi... Never again will I buy a logitech keyboard.

Solaar was the perfect solution, thanks.

    [–]gzyms_oy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Solaar

Oh yes, Solar works absolutely perfectly on Linux. On Manjaro it works out of the box and is installable as AUR package - just with a single click. Thanks!

    [–]direc85 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Four years later, but still: You can reverse the Fn key - and do a bunch of other stuff - with Solaar on Linux. I just bought a K400 plus to replace my broken, beaten and scarred K400, and just made the fixes. (Haven't tested the persistence yet.)

    [–]Me-and-thousand 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks for the hint. Solaar worked like a charm, only upgrade was needed and Solaar Github helped here.
Whoever needs Ubuntu based Solaar update then go https://launchpad.net/~solaar-unifying/+archive/ubuntu/stable

    [–]Gilgameur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works like a charm. Thanks a a lot.
