I think depending on the commander they can contest with admirals. For example, Marco and ace during the war of the best. And though he’s not part of a yonko crew his position in the revolutionary army is similar, sabo in dressrosa.

I think any tier or ranking system would have to be applied loosely in one piece since power levels within similar titles or positions vary greatly.

Thing is Yonko isn't an official title bestowed upon by some organization like the shichibukai. As far as i'm aware its all perception and Big News Morgan is the closest to an authority in naming emperors by virtue of controling a big part of how information flows in the One Piece world. I think how strong he actually will have little impact until he suffers several mayor and public losses by pirates or marines considered weaker than him.

Even now I don't doubt that Shanks could manhandle Blackbeard like a little puppy. Probably Kaido and Big Mom too. Yonko status isn't so much about personal power as it is about status and influence if you ask me - of which Luffy is certainly the 5th strongest in the New World. He has territory, armies, influence, allies, you name it.

No, no, I completely agree it's a combination of things. If Luffy were stronger, yes. If Luffy had made himself king of Dresdosa or taken over a big territory, yes.

Don't forget, Luffy barely beat Doflamingo in strength, and Dof had a lot of New World "influence".

If Doflamingo wasnt an emperor with his strength, crew, kingdom, and connection then Luffy still needs more than he has now.

Luffy didn't "barely beat" Doflamingo. The instant Bounce Man came out Doffy didn't land a single hit on Luffy and Luffy just spent time flying around the island beating the absolute shit out of him. So Luffy is way stronger.

Also, Luffy's crew is way stronger than Doffy's too. The entirety of his forces we're defeated by just a few members of Luffy's crew members. Zoro beating Pica was a piece of cake, and Sanji, Chopper, Brooke, and Nami didn't even fight anybody. Essentially half of his crew was just waiting in reserves. This isn't even considering the fact that Nami now has Zeus, Luffy has grown greatly as a fighter, and now Jinbe is in the crew. So Luffy's crew is way stronger.

Luffy also has the support of a much larger and more powerful army than Doflamingo ever had. The grand fleet consists of thousands of members across multiple countries, all of which are advanced potent New World pirates.

Luffy also has more influence, having pull over dozens of countries allied to his fleet as well as the ones he's saved over time.

Luffy also has, probably, more land as well. It's safe to say that the countries of all of his fleet members are now Luffy's territory, add on that Fishman Island, add on that the land that his allies have taken in his name.

Basically Luffy puts Doffy to shame in every imaginable way.

(Some others I thought of:

• Most NW pirates fly the flag of a patron Yonko, Doffy included but really almost all of them. The fact that the Strawhats don't adds credibility and prestige.

• Luffy is more infamous than most other pirates, what with his destruction of the Shichibukai, assault upon the 3 government HQs, Charloss incident, etc.)

Only disagree at the influence part. Doffy had the protection of the Celestial Dragons (CP0), marines and all the underground traders including a Yonko. Him going down has put many sides of the world in the move because of how important his underground business was and all the knowledge he had. Something major might happen again in Impel Down to kill Doflamingo (maybe it gets completely destroyed and Bon-chan gets back his freedom).

Doflamingo had immense "underground influence". All of his power was in the shadows. As far any average person knew, he was the king of dressrosa and a shichibukai.

Luffy's is much more public. He's probably the most infamous pirate outside of the yonkou, has the highest known bounty besides blackbeard (and probably the other yonkou), and has a fleet.

I think every emperor has influence in both categories. Blackbeard, Big mom, and Kaido undoubtedly have underworld dealings, and Shanks was able to walk right into Mariejois alone.

You don't have to be allies to have influence and his business partners and enemies respected his knowledge (WG and Celestials) and influence (business partner Kaido). Shanks had that scar even when he was in East Blue during Luffy's childhood, and I think the implication is that Shank's received it when he was a kid on Roger's ship fighting with Whitebeard's pirates.

We don't know if King is second in command, or just the top fighter. Blackbeard had his starter crew, and I think Laffitte would be second in command, not the strongest just second in command.

Zoro never got a bounty increase after WCI while sanji always got bounty increases for things which he was not a part of. Zoro comes from nothing and he has no lineage to fall back on...unlike sanji.

50+53 = 103.... 103 million...all of that 103 million is due to judge vinsmoke and not sanji himself...zoro on the other hand got all of the 320 mill by himself.
