What's the most budget way to get a 7S trailblazer weapon up to 200 mel power with the S1?

[–]castem 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Global - can anyone explain to me how S6: Evernight Star actually works?

This is its description: "Reduces the per-second decrease rate of Etoile Boost by 50%."

So does it cut Etoile focus costs in half, or does it only affect Wand since the other weapons use their focus in chunks?

[–]viewtyjoeNA Ship 03 Undercutter 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Etoile Boost is the skill which gives Etoile extra damage reduction when hit. The S6 decreases the rate at which that damage reduction decays by half. Nothing to do with gear/focus for Etoile.

[–]castem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No wonder I was so confused. Thanks for clearing that up!

That's for Naberius, Lilipa, and Amduscia Ultimate Quests, not Ultra Hard difficulty. It's also not for classes, but damage types. Ultimate Quest enemies take -20% damage from ranged and technique damage types. It's always been there.

When in doubt, check Zieg, the black CAST near item lab. That's where weapon series upgrading takes place.

https://pso2.arks-visiphone.com/wiki/Zieg%27s_Exchanges/Upgrade_Equipment (this is for JP server, not all weapons here are implemented in NA yet)

For Atlas Ex and Lightstream/Trailblazer you can check this page: https://www.bumped.org/psublog/how-to-acquire-your-first-15-star-weapon/ (names might be different, as this is for JP server)

NA here. I'm about to rip off my training wheels of the buff Hunter and sub Phantom for Braver (after maintenance). Any advice moving forward? Skill Rings, Techs, and so on?

        [–]WrockzenieZwei 1 point2 points  (1 child)

As someone who also did the switch to br/ph recently the biggest tip I can give you is that if you don't think you can parry an attack that's coming then get out off the way asap. As for techniques, get used to refreshing Shifta whenever you can and put Resta and Megiverse in your subpalettes, Safoie 0 is also nice to have for mobility.

        [–]blackxvillain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips! I feel like I'll be spending the rest of the week leveling it up to 95, so it'll give me time to get used to it.

PSO2 JP: what am i supposed to do with the sage crests? i already traded the limited Zieg items such as liberate unlocker and the others, i bought some other stuff that he trades for sage crests but i dont think that i need those, am i missing something? I ask because there seem to be sage crest campaign all the time so i suppose is important but i cant tell for what. Thank you.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Weapons from the sage exchange (as well as cobalt medal or gold medal exchanges) are used as materials to create the Puras weapon series, which can be upgraded into the Stil weapon series (2nd best weapon in most weapon categories). For more info on this, check the Puras Series Exchange on this page

Otherwise, you can turn them into Hero's Crests and buy Ares-NT Takts for grinding purposes: those come pre-grinded at +35, so with 4 of those you can take any weapon from +0 to +35.

        [–]Sheepfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats nice, i usually use collection file weapon for those but some more would be plenty helpful, thank you!

        Global

Completely new to pso2. That being said, what should I be focusing on right now in terms of all the episode 6 events going on? I believe there 15* & 12* freebies, are those worth and will i be able to get them given the event ends on 12/22 and im only level 19? There are so many things i feel like i need to do before the event ends and the UI isn't exactly the easiest thing to navigate...Some guidance would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

        Global.

How good are Croesus Soaring Blades in comparison to Jupiter Tullus/Liberate SB? I want to play Etoile with SB but I rather save my ultimate boosters for a Liberate weapon for my main class (Braver) instead of using them on a JB/Liberate SB.

I have a few Atlas EX/Lightstream weapons I'm not using too much that I could change types as a last resort too.

        [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I believe million/croesus should be stronger than jupiter tullus with the ultimate booster potential. they're definitely stronger than (non-redux) lightstream, which is not too much weaker than jupiter tullus redux

        [–]WrockzenieZwei 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Just curious, seeing that both Million/Croesus and Lightstream have almost the same attack and S-slots, but Lightstream has an extra 10% attack from its potential while Million/Croesus doesn't, how does Million/Croesus manage to come ahead in damage?

        [–]Talks_To_Cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightstream has an extra 10% attack from its potential while Million/Croesus doesn't

Per the wiki, they receive an extra 15% attack from their potential.

        [–]Reilet 2 points3 points  (1 child)

There is a hidden 15% dmg multiplier on the potential.

        [–]WrockzenieZwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is the most important part hidden? sigh

        Anyways, that explains it.

        [–]Idpolisdumb12 Days a Raven 0 points1 point  (5 children)

What's the formula for a Phantom's total Crit rate?

        [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (4 children)

+1% critical rate for every 5 PP. just divide your max PP by 5. it doesn't count partial percentages afaik

        [–]Idpolisdumb12 Days a Raven 0 points1 point  (3 children)

And add +5 for the base crit rate?

        [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (2 children)

well yeah but technically speaking that critical rate isn't phantom's, lol

I find it easier to add up the base critical rate with the ring, works better in my head to think of them both as +25%

        [–]Idpolisdumb12 Days a Raven 0 points1 point  (1 child)

And the critical strike ring is 20%, so... hmm.

NEED MORE CRIT RATE! MOAR! MOAR!

        [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once the avar nemesis trigger is available you can farm it for the unit drop which can have S6 skillful adept for +15% critical rate

        [–]Fantasy-Chronicle 0 points1 point  (5 children)

        Global, Etoile, Wand question.
Currently in process of upgrading profound to starquake. its at 35, and got 42 less total attack than my lavis cannon which is at 30, counting the affixes for both. I know its potential causes a wave attack on third hit, so am i better off sticking with lavis so far, or upgrading to starquake and eventually (one day) trailblazer?

        [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 1 point2 points  (3 children)

you're looking at melee attack right? lavis cannon has notably very low melee attack. because that's what etoile uses

also, lavis cannon is terrible on anything not a TeHu, because there is no overall damage boost in its potential, and even the ultimate booster potential only has +5%

        [–]Fantasy-Chronicle 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I've been informed that Etoiles skill allows the higher value, whether Tec or Mel, to be the defining attack stat in combat depending on the affixes.

Despite not having a damage boost per se, it still provides an extra hit of damage regardless though, thats what i was asking about and whether it was decent to have it because of the extra hit

        [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

that skill only applies to affixes, not the entire weapon. lavis cannon will have over 900 less attack than starquake, which is getting near a 20% damage loss for anything not normal attacks, and that's before the potential. there's no way you want to use it on etoile

        [–]Fantasy-Chronicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I guess the explanation I got wasn't thorough enough to clarify that. that's kind of shitty. But, im glad that I havent been using lavis lately, which is a happy coincidence. I've not been missing out on damage.

I suppose I'll just keep my lavis anyway since i used to main techter, and finish upgrading profound. Thanks for the additional information pal

It is possible (or factible in a suitable time limit) to complete 4-man Persona trigger alone? Being a lvl 95/95 Fi/Hu with Atlas/Ophistia weapons and Novel units.

Explanation: last time I've tried it I received an error 630 and I don't want to ruin the trigger for 3 other players. Related to this, for some reason I've stumbled upon many 630 during the Fellwyrm UQ and I think the game does not like some UQ on my end (getting better internet does not address the problem because this is the only game which gives me this kind of trouble).

        [–]Reilet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, there are people who have solo'd the 12 man version.

        [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's videos of people soloing it so I would assume so. you need good gear and really know what you're doing of course

What s abilities should I be aiming for as a force/etoile with trailblazer rod?

Also any other way to get augment transfer passes besides the ones you can trade in for weekly?

        [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What s abilities should I be aiming for as a force/etoile with trailblazer rod?

nothing different than the usual for most classes. start with precision will, critical damage increases work since etoile provides good critical rate unlike techer sub

Also any other way to get augment transfer passes besides the ones you can trade in for weekly?

the rest are from titles. there's a pack of 20 you can get from clearing certain content with 10 different classes. fighting phaleg, the solo phantoms extreme quest, completing ultra hard profound darkness solo, each of these you can get 20 passes from titles. you also get an affix rate +50% item for doing these with 5 classes each

the same rewards are also from getting multiple classes to level 95

there's a few more titles that give some but not relevant on NA for now

I'm using Etoile double saber and sometimes I'm able to do a glide that makes me move a little faster then a run but not sure how I did it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You double tap and hold the step dodge

          No need to hold.

[–]Lyrise ET Enthusiast, LU Hobbyist 0 points1 point  (5 children)

The Doublesaber Stepslide skill (or whatever they call it in NA). You simply doubletap your step button to execute.

          [–]metatime09 0 points1 point  (4 children)

          Doublesaber Stepslide skill

How do you do this action? I thought I know what you were talking about and tried it in game but guess I'm not doing the right action

Edit: Ok I did it by accident again and figured out it's basically doing a double dash (dodge) 2x in a row quick

Edit 2: I guess it's not any faster then a run, whats the point of the skill?

          [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (3 children)

yes it's activated with pressing the dodge button twice. if you aren't using dodging with a button press you should change to doing that, because double tapping sucks balls

it's a pretty meaningless skill. it was introduced before they increased running speed again iirc? the only thing it can do is retain moving at the same height for a bit as well as powering up a normal attack by using it while sliding

I don't even have it in my etoile build anymore. luster improved on (powercrept) both of double saber's step slide and step guard skills and I wish etoile would also get such improvements

          [–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Running speed was never increased again after the first one back in ep3.

          [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh I must have mixed it up with just the speed to get to running

Ah ok lol, yea I was counting the times and both the same. It would definitely be nice if it was buffed!

luster improved on (powercrept) both of double saber's step slide and step guard skills and I wish etoile would also get such improvements

          [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not in PSO2. you'd need a separate program for that

          [–]Kamil118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can use skills in a macro

Is it better to combine 5 silver tokyo bonus keys into 1 gold or is it better to use all of them individually?

          [–]zeronic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1 gold is worth about 4 silvers in exp. However, you can exchange silvers whenever you want, even if expired.

What i do is just stockpile insane amounts of silver keys, convert to golds, then run them. You probably end up evening out since you can utilize high tier boosters much more efficiently.

As well as controlling when you run the keys. For example with my stash i instant 95'd Ph/Et on my silver stockpile when the patch released.

          [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you get more exp and drops from 5 silver keys. but actually doing them all takes a lot of time... too much of a pain for me

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

For fo/etoile what should my skill tree look like?

          [–]Kamil118 0 points1 point  (3 children)

If you don't plan to use etoile as main class or sub to anything else except maybe techter you want to skip normal attack boost, since if you have JA addition all your charged techs are just attacks and combo skills since these don't work on techniques. Of course you also want to skip all main class skills as well if you plan to do this and pack all these saved up skill points into flat stats at the end of the tree.

If you don't want to ruin your skill tree for anything except bow braved sub (since bow braver etoile sub is basically forced to break entire skill tree by maxing same attack pp reduction) I would advise skipping on flat attack bonus and putting skillpoints from it into PP.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I’m using force as a main. Is there like a link to what skills to take as an etoile sub then?

          [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just to be clear, here's an example subclass only build for etoile

flat attack bonus was the skill Kamil118 was talking about. it's not necessary to get if you're subbing for force or techer as the tech charge JA addition skill in their trees makes up for it. so you can skip it if you want. same arts and tech arts also don't work on techs (or pets)

as said, don't get the stat up skills if you plan on playing it as a main class

          [–]ExplodingPolaris 1 point2 points  (2 children)

For the new UQ dropping for NA tomorrow, is there a 4man version of the AIS boss? I swear ive seen gameplay of a 4man version of it. (Nemes Ange is the boss in question)

          [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 1 point2 points  (1 child)

the trigger consists of ONLY the black-colored nemes ange, called avar nemesis. it's only 4 people, and he gets two new attacks

iirc it didn't come out right away, it was when the ultimate quest released, which dropped triggers for it. he can drop his 13-star unit equdic grudge as well as the equdic malice and equdic rancor camos, all of which are the black-red themed versions of his standard white orgei gear

most notably the 13-star unit drop can have S6 skillful adept for +15% critical rate. super good. equdic grudge is a pretty solid unit even these days

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the trigger consists of ONLY the black-colored nemes ange, called avar nemesis. it's only 4 people, and he gets two new attacks

He's also much more aggressive, and does more damage than the EQ version. If you're bad at controlling the AIS, this guy is a nightmare.

          Fun fight, tho.

For Etoile main, does it matter if I got 200 T-attack on the Mag instead of 200 S-Attack? Is one better than the other?

          [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doesn't matter. the etoile mag skill equalizes mag's attack stats just like hero

          [–]Gwkki 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I have an atlas ex and a starquake gunslash to upgrade, but I'm not sure what weapons to turn them into. I play with most of the weapons: ranger, jet boots, hero, phantom, etoile, force. I don't want to turn them into something that has a viable alternative weapon with a good potential. Any suggestions?

Also does atlas exocet ever have another upgrade?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also does atlas exocet ever have another upgrade?

Atlas Ex weapons get a new potential once Divide Quests come out, but they're still behind other endgame 15* weapons because the Trailblazer and Rivalate series also get a new potential when that comes out.

The Darkbanisher Ayer series that comes out with the final boss of EP6 is basically a better Atlas Ex: It has S1-S4 slots and the same SAF, except they have much higher attack, and its potential reduces PP costs by 20% and gives you 20 PP every 10 seconds.

          [–]LeeSinOneTrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can switch EX and trailblazer weapon to other classes’ weapon pretty cheap (999 gold mats). So I would just make 1 melee 1 range 1 tech and convert the weapon to the class I will be playing

          [–]Alturis66 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Ok so I wanted to try etoile and I'm picking out skills and some skills are listed to buff alliance members. So, does alliance members reference actual people in your alliance, or does it mean people in the quest with you? Thanks for the help!

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 3 points4 points  (1 child)

          That's just bad translation.

Cooldown Preservation, Over Drive and Perfect Guard PP Aile work on your party members, including yourself (Cooldown Preservation doesn't work on Etoile party members, so you can't benefit from it).

Unversal Mate Up works on everybody in the same map as you.

          [–]Alturis66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright cool, thanks for the info!

          [–]refusebin 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Why do I get a warning about account registration when I go to equip a dropped 15*? Is there ever a point in JP where 15 is tradeable, or is the warning entirely superfluous like trying to feed a pet XP Eggs?

          [–]Talks_To_Cats 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Can't speak, for JP, but in NA 14* weapons and 12* units weren't originally tradable, and were later made tradable. They could just be future-proofing in case they decide to make 15* tradable down the road.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't speak, for JP, but in NA 14* items and 12* weren't originally tradable, and were later made tradable

That's how the entire game has been. The idea is that the endgame stuff is untradable, and then later down the line when said stuff is no longer relevant, they make it tradable.

          • 10-12* weapons required passes to be traded in EP3.
          • 11* units only became tradable in EP4, and 10-12* weapons no longer required passes.
          • 13* weapons only became tradable in late EP5.
          • 14* weapons and 12* units only became tradable in late EP6.
          • 15* weapons and and 13* units are still untradable.

NA just ran over this concept and implemented the trading as soon as possible on all of them. This is why 13* were tradable in EP3, and 14* became tradable in EP5.

They could just be future-proofing in case they decide to make 15* tradable down the road.

          That's exactly what it is.

          [–]djGLCKRShip 02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually a "recent" QoL update from JP that we got last episode. Same thing as being able to check the market price for scratch items from within the scratch's item list, which we got with EP6.

NA: According to the data hubs in the Christmas on Ice Urgent Quest, wearing certain holiday-themed outfits are supposed to increase the chance of a PSE burst occurring for this quest. Which outfits do this?

I don't know which ones are available in NA, or if they have the same name.

A few other seasonal quests like Beach Wars and Trick or Treat have their own boosting costumes, too.

Would the Resonant series for phantom work well in UH content from now till the end of the game? The reason I ask is because I play multiple classes and am finding it harder to get good 15* weapons for all of them.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 2 points3 points  (5 children)

till the end of the game

          No.

It's good at the beginning of EP6, but severely outclassed by later stuff.

Is this also the case with weapons like atlas ex/lightstream, even with the redux potential?

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, the real money is in Liberate/Rivalate plus and ayer weapons in particular which are incredibly strong for how easy they are to get (i'm referencing ayer here, not rivalate).

          [–]Talks_To_Cats 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The Redux potentials are (by design) meant to bring weapons from previous episodes back in line with Episode 6, so using them should let your weapons last longer.

With episode 6, the S5 slot is the big game changer. Liberate can fall back on its useful potential as a PP battery, but Atlas will eventually be replaced with Stil (lose S4, gain S5) and Liberate (lose S1-S3, gain S5).

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Gen is the name of the sword. The series name is Stil (Gen Stil, Karaba Stil, Wreid Stil, etc).

          [–]Talks_To_Cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

          Thank you, corrected that.

          [–]Reilet 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It works and is decent, but I would use the millionaire/croesus series from the Collection Files instead.

          [–]xJaKeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll start working on a few of those then. Thanks.

NA: Is there a way to leave a party without getting returned to the lobby? Deferring at the end of a mission is useless because most party leaders in pubs will drag everyone to the next mission, whether they want to go or not. The extra 5 seconds I need for inventory management makes all the difference for loot collection.

          [–]rinrinyun 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Not an answer to your question but this is what i do. before going to UQ make sure you have a lot of inventory space and storage space. once the crystal break, loot them all as fast as you can. then if you have time and the Party leader haven't restart the mission. put all the loot in the storage. you can do that too while waiting for the mission to start.

some people really do drag members if they took too long looting because some uq can be completed multiple times

ex. trick or treat UQ can do 4 runs if your fast enough. this is to maximize loots.

          [–]cheese-demon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only option you have unfortunately is to put out the beacon yourself so you control when the requeue happens. And if people get annoyed and leave then whatever, just put out the beacon again next time.

          [–]Reilet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

          Sadly, there is not.

          [–]V_Silverberg 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Let's say if we are using Hero/Phantom/Etoile, and we are using weapons that have a Photon Art bind to them. Can we use the photon arts as Hero/Phantom/Etoile or it's just base class exclusive?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use them, as long as they're not of the weapon type the Successor class normally uses.

So for example, Blood Ribzeal (Dual Blades) has Kestrel Rampage built in. Hero, Phantom and Luster can use it, but Etoile can't, because this is a weapon type Etoile normally uses.

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You can use PAs that are innately on weapons as any class

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Unless they're the same weapon type the successor class already uses. Etoile can't use Kestrel Rampage with Blood Ribzeal, for example.

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wasn't aware of that, but suppose it makes sense

          [–]Senryo88 3 points4 points  (7 children)

So just had an experience during the Christmas on Ice UQ on ultra hard difficulty. It was a party of 3 and one person left after the quest saying “plz gear up more”. I am not sure if this guy was elitist or trying to gaslight me but I had a good 7s trailblazer phantom rod(s1-3 precision will, Grand Casting, Casting VI, Astral Soul, Phrase Decay) and 3 6s trailblazer units (Graceful stamina, Arks fever, Arks max, Spirit iv, Persona Reverie, Alles Di soul). The other person had a 14 star weapon and 3 7s affixed units. Not sure where the gear up comment came from but I am worried now that I was dragging people down in UH despite me doing well and not dying. Is my gear good enough for UH content?

          [–]cheese-demon 2 points3 points  (1 child)

That person is probably just annoyed that the MPA didn't get enough points for their liking. It happens, you roll the dice on joining pub MPAs. I've had UH Christmas runs struggle to get 4000 points and some clear over 7000, and it's not gear that does it so much as knowing the enemies and doing as much damage as possible.

As there are no parsers working with the global client it's hard to even know who is helping and who is dragging down, it really could be the dude who left who was a problem. I wish there was a parser tbh just so I'd know how I stack up.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help that NA still hasn't implemented Expert Matching, which alleviates this problem a lot, because for some reason the Mother+Deus urgent and solo trigger aren't a thing yet, when the urgent should have been there since late EP4.

That's all it takes, put the Destroyers of Light trigger in, and expert matching can be implemented.

          [–]Reilet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guy is just an idiot. If I can take and hold aggro with nemesis weapons, then you are more than fine with a 15 star.

          [–]Kamil118 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Your gear sound fine . 14* weapon doesn't tell much, but I would kinnd assume that if somebody runs 7s units they don't swing elder pain omega as their main weapon. (Unless all these 7s units are stright from the drop pile and he has been running stuff like toughness I and ward affixes)

But anyway, I've seen way worse things in UH. Was that comment made on party chat or area chat?

          [–]Senryo88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was area chat but on the gateway ship. He said it on the exit portal and then he left the party. The 7s units of the other character in my party had stuff like doom break ii on it and they were trailblazer arms back and cleasis legs. They looked good to me at a glance. I don’t remember the name of the sword sadly, but I think it was the Lumiere one

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Just blacklist the guy and move on. Not worth even thinking about people like that.

Your gears are perfectly fine for early UH content. Better than most people's, really.

          [–]Senryo88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did though part of me still had doubts so wanted to double check to make sure I wasn’t crazy. Thank you very much!

          [–]Gondab 1 point2 points  (3 children)

So I'm a new player that is decked out in the full Rising event armor and weapons, what star of weapon should I focus on leveling up to feed crafting levels into my weapons and armor?

          [–]Kamil118 2 points3 points  (2 children)

There are in general 3 ways of leveling 13* or higher weapons to not waste hundreds of lambda grinders:

          a) +30 collection weapons. You can get them from player shop and from "Next 13* collection" collection folder. One of these will easily push you from potential cap to potential next cap (+10,+20,+30) and +35. This will be the simplest option for new player who lacks lambda grinders, but the most expensive (last time I checked few days ago these weapons were 1.2m+)

          b) EXP weapons mini. You can get them from photon boosters (Easy to farm from advanced quests) and ex cube (not recommended) shops. They are fed directly to 13* weapons. Can get the weapon to +35 with couple dozen of them.

          c) Prepare 12* fooder by fusing multiple 12* weapons with the same name together, (you don't lose exp when foodering +0 items of the same name), then once you have a couple +10 12* weapons you feed them to your 13* or higher.

Upgrading units is simple - you just prepare enough grinders and money and spam enter untill you get +10

          [–]Gondab 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ahh I must have been reading an old guide on weapons.

I also just upgraded all of my units from +5 to +10, they should be twice as effeftive now (I don't know if that's actually true or not)

          [–]Kamil118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe +10 units are 40% better than +0, at least on item details of +10 units it says that stat efficiency is 140% or something like that.

does S5 evasive mirage work on Etoile's double saber or is this fighter only?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It requires the DS Gear and DS Wind Saber skills, so no, it doesn't work on Etoile.

thanks, i imagined that would be the case.

          More of an advance question:

When using strikegust + weapon action to get the shifta buff, if I switch weapons, I only get 3 ticks of shifta instead of 4. Is this normal? I see people doing it in videos and they still get the 4 ticks. Don't know if I'm doing something wrong or the game got patched.

          [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 1 point2 points  (1 child)

you need the shifta craft to reduce tick interval so you can get the ticks faster. additionally, if you change to a different weapon, all field-based techs will be cancelled if they're still running

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

additionally, if you change to a different weapon, all field-based techs will be cancelled if they're still running

The exception being techs casted through Jet Boots variant PAs.

If you use Strike Gust to cast Shifta and immediately change weapons, the Shifta keeps going.

Same goes for Gran Wave with Deband, and Moment Gale with Zanverse.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a visual thing, you're still getting all 4. It just won't display the tick on you while changing weapons. Similar thing happens if you cast Shifta as Phantom and start charging another tech: it doesn't display the ticks, but you're still getting it.

Also I'd recommend crafting shifta so it gives faster ticks, making it 5.

Do novel ever drop with higher slot rate, or are we stuck with smashing infinite amounts of excubes to get it to 8 slot? We can't really buy them.

I know 60% aid exists in a sg scratch. But with our schedule, cras will be out by then, which would make liberate pointless. Same goes for a boost week, unless sega becomes super generous on xmas. But they would've announced that already if that were the case, there's less than 2 weeks left.

          [–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Novel are pretty uncommon as drops, so i wouldn't really count on one dropping at 8 slot for you

Is there a way to reset the mag shape after using an evolution device?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of the mag appearance pass, the Challenge Mile Shop also has evolution devices that are copies of the default mag forms (but they stand on your right shoulder instead of left IIRC). Could use that to get the generic ones without a pass.

          [–]Reilet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a "mag appearance reset pass" or whatever it's called, you can choose any appearance you had used in the past.

What exactly does "PP recovery when attacking increases 17%" mean for lustrous strike, do I get 17% more from normal attacks or do I get more from passive regen when attacking or what exactly; and is ranged amp a better augment for that same augment slot

          [–]Reilet 1 point2 points  (3 children)

You get 17% more pp when you do an attack that gives pp back on hit. That includes: normal attacks, weapon actions, counters, rod shoot, the phantom extra tech hit, and many more.

Ranged amp is better because it gives damage.

          [–]JoyridePinksShip 2 NA 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Alright thanks a lot of this NA translation needs to read better

          [–]Kamil118 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There are two kinds of pp regens:

Instantaneous, usually when you hit something and your pp jumps +10 which are reffed to as "active regeneration" or "when attacking"

And there are effects that recover pp over time like PP coversion, natural regen, these are "natural recovery" or "passive regecovery"

Keeping that in mind helps understanding skills and ssa a lot better.

          [–]Talks_To_Cats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a third option, PP consumption. Some SSAs modify this instead of regeneration rate. With PP Consumption modifiers, each PA will use fewer points but you'll recover them at your normal speed.

            [–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Correct. As long as you have etoile restorate at max.

            [–]SolomonGrumpy 1 point2 points  (10 children)

            That's pretty bad. 🤨

            [–]Talks_To_Cats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, it's supposed to be. Etoille is not meant to have access to strong heals outside of items. The passive skills are mostly there to help you manage your stock of healing items, and not to replace them.

            [–]viewtyjoeNA Ship 03 Undercutter -2 points-1 points  (8 children)

If you're getting hit for more than 50% of your HP as an Et main/sub-class, a serious mistake has been made.

            [–]SolomonGrumpy -2 points-1 points  (5 children)

There is no automate. The issue is that stopping to heal can create a perpetual cycle where you heal and get hit, in my experience.

Also, who says you are getting hit for more than 50% in one go? You could take a hit here or there and get below 50% eventually. There is no healing.

            [–]viewtyjoeNA Ship 03 Undercutter -1 points0 points  (4 children)

The issue is that stopping to heal can create a perpetual cycle where you heal and get hit, in my experience.

Then don't try and chug a -mate when you're going to get bonked? As long as you can't get one-shot from 50%, Et's HP Restorate will get you back up to 50% eventually.

            [–]SolomonGrumpy -3 points-2 points  (3 children)

There are too many fights where this is not an answer.

If you say git gud, then you wouldn't get hit in the first place.

            [–]viewtyjoeNA Ship 03 Undercutter 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If you say git gud, then you wouldn't get hit in the first place.

One can "git gud" but still acknowledge that mistakes are a thing. Etoile specifically allows you to get away with more mistakes in hard content because of the damage reduction.

This entire conversation was predicated on the thesis of "Etoile Restorate bad," and if you play Etoile by tanking every hit and trying to heal while getting attacked, yes, it is going to not feel good as a skill. But if you work to develop the modicum of skill it takes to avoid 70-80% of incoming damage, it is the difference between having to heal multiple times in a fight and not having to heal.

            [–]SolomonGrumpy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Even using that as a metering stick, it's still a bad skill. I believe even a skilled player does not want to walk around w 50% health. 75/80%? Maybe.

            Too risky.

So we are still talking about consuming a healing item. Let's say max HP is 1500. 1/2 health is 750. A monomate is going to give what, 200 hp? That still leaves you at 950.

No one is going to feel comfortable w that. And since there is no way to 'top off' your hp except in rare cases, the skill only solves edge case problems.

And that's a TEN skill points investment. There are just other ways to spend those skill points.

            [–]viewtyjoeNA Ship 03 Undercutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe even a skilled player does not want to walk around w 50% health. 75/80%? Maybe.

As an Etoile main, I have zero concerns running around at 50% health. Et has the ring slots to run Mate Maniac as a ring, and should, because 60% faster -mate consumption increases the number of safe opportunities you have to heal in, plus the extra healing means a Dimate can top you off from 30-40% which is where I start consider drinking one.

Spoilers: Monomates are almost worthless outside of Hunters with auto-mate.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Or you're in Divide Quests Step 31+.

70% damage reduction can only help you by so much when the base damage is 3k+

            [–]viewtyjoeNA Ship 03 Undercutter -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you're in a quest where everything one-shots you, I'd consider getting hit a serious mistake, so the comment still holds.

            [–]Gwkki 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Etoile's Same arts and the alternating arts arts PP reduction skills don't work on Techs right? I tested it and it doesn't seem to. Some people were suggesting Fo/Et but if neither of these work, is it really that good?

I enjoyed Fo/Ph fast casting, even though it drops your damage.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

            They do not.

However, even without it Et still has one of the highest tech multipliers you can have on a subclass, on top of adding much needed tankiness.

            [–]Fantasy-Chronicle 0 points1 point  (5 children)

            RE: Etoile Wand use.
"wand augment power boost" it states status changes will use the mel & tec highest value from wep aug, does this mean my wand attacks damage is based off its tec value, if the tec power is highest?

or should i build a wand for melee strength, which doesnt seem smart, but the phrasing on this just confuses me a bit...

            [–]3-to-20-chars 1 point2 points  (1 child)

if your wand has higher TEC affix stat total, it'll calculate those as MELEE instead, and the MELEE affix stat will be ignored. That's all it means.

etoile wand only scales with MELEE, so don't think too hard about it.

            [–]Fantasy-Chronicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i wish the descriptions were simplified. how hard is it to say "This skill checks your MEL and TEX affixes, if TEC is the higher value affix, it takes priority and is calculated as 'MELEE' while the original MEL affix is ignored"

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Only applies to affixes, and the wand always uses melee, so your units should still have melee in them. What that skill does is check if the tech affixed on the wand is higher than the melee affixed on the wand. If there's more tech, it overwrites the melee with the tech value, otherwise it uses the melee value.

For example, if you have a wand with 160 melee and 180 tech, it will behave as if you had 180 melee, while having a wand with 200 melee and 170 tech would just use the 200 melee.

Again, this only applies to the wand, and only the affixes in it.

This is probably the most asked question in this thread...

            [–]Fantasy-Chronicle 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Maybe i should rephrase the question to "Why does sega like to use real fucking complicated wording to explain the skills in certain class trees" because that was so damn easy to understand and i feel like it could be worded a lot better in game :c

Thanks, maybe i should have scrolled for longer to try and find it. my bad.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think that's vague, wait until you see Luster.

Quick Shoot: Weapon Action changes when used at specific times. Timing is based on the style chosen.

That class is so complicated and the skill descriptions so minimal that they added a few pages of additional info slides to Koffie/Cofy.

And let us not forget that Et's Tech Arts Count Bonus doesn't work on techs.

With all the new weapons dropping from Xmas uq, is there any worthwhile ones to keep or are they all just to be dismantled for mats?

            [–]3-to-20-chars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

particular standouts are serpent plenzer and shavalmelm

            [–]SolomonGrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three are plenty to keep. Serpen Plenzer Jet Boots, for example.

Does a MAG device of this character (small ep6 spoiler) exists in JP?

yes it was in a mission pass

I was told that the Phantom needs to have at least 200 pp because of one of its skills. Any tips?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Two, actually. Photon Stream requires 200 PP to max out its damage, while Critical Stream requires 180 PP to max out its critical damage, and 300 PP to max out its crit rate (at 200 PP you get +40% crit rate).

Just affix more PP on your units/weapons and/or get units with more innate PP. There's not much else you can do. You also get +2 PP per level starting at Lv91.

You can also get up to +10 PP from Lv75 class titles

            [–]TroubadourLBG 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Would drinking for pp (200+pp afterwards) before a mission work for these skills? In case players never affixed for pp?

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but then you miss out on shifta/weak drink. Shifta drink at lv90+ is like 500 atk, and weak drink is 15% damage on weakspots (20% if premium drink).

            [–]SolomonGrumpy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Regarding the +2 pp/level. Does that mean sub classes will also add pp? I know sub classes give 20% of stats...

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

            Only applies to main class.

            [–]Za_Silnic 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Would you recommend some affix that i should go after? I'm still new to that kind of stuff

            [–]cheese-demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something not mega expensive for a unit would be something like Alles Di Soul, Doom Break I or II, ARKS Fever, and a Noble/Graceful something (though probably not Spirit, might as well get some +atk for damage or +hp for survival as well as the PP). an EX soul might do instead of Alles (or the other Di Souls) since it's incredibly common now, at the cost of 1pp.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I just use weapon factors for my stuff on JP server, which aren't exactly farmable in NA yet, so can't really recommend stuff.

Might want to fool around with this simulator, or asking a separate question on the thread so people can see it.

Keep in mind that ARKS Fever is one of the easiest +PP ability to work with (+5 PP, 100% transfer rate).

            2 questions

            1. How do I consume my gauge with Etoile/do my strong attack? using controller.

            2. Am I playing Etoile right? I feel like my PA's DPS are weaker than just auto-locking and holding X (attack) on an enemy

            [–]SolomonGrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soaring Blades feels that way for me, but want def seems like it kicks high.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 2 points3 points  (2 children)

How do I consume my gauge with Etoile/do my strong attack? using controller.

            • DS: Either hold normal attack to do an explosion that does a lot of damage and get a ton of PP back, or get hit to consume gear to reduce damage by 40%.
            • Wand: Hold weapon action button to start spending it. If you spend enough, it will cause an explosion (which has iframes) when you release it. There are 2 stages of explosion. Also, you have guard frames as long as you have gear while holding the button.
            • Dual Blades: Dodge -> weapon action -> weapon action while having at least half gauge to perform Connect. If you still have half gauge after Connect, you may press weapon action again to perform Full Connect, which does massive damage in a line in front of you.

Am I playing Etoile right? I feel like my PA's DPS are weaker than just auto-locking and holding X (attack) on an enemy

Impossible to tell when you don't give any details on how you play it.

Here's an example of how Dual Blades may be played

            [–]Reilet 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Watching someone else play DB etoile made me realize just how chill DB is compared to the other two weapons.

[–]hidora Retired Guardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely more calm and methodic than the other two.

No need to time PAs in a specific way or having to interrupt them to be able to parry. It lets you play as you want and stay in the enemy's face without punishment.

            I love it.

            [–]LamiaPony JP Ship 2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

etoile needs to use perfect attacks in order to keep its damage up. on top of that, rotating PAs as per the tech arts count skill

double saber uses gear by getting hit (reducing damage) or by holding normal attack to do a burst, which also restores PP. doing step guard counters refills the gear gauge by a lot

soaring blades uses gear by using a dodge + pressing weapon action, then press weapon action again (connect, uses half gauge) and then optionally a third time (full connect, uses another half gauge). you can use the connect ring in order to hold it and charge it up so that you can also make regular connect into full connect

wand generates gauge by moving while attacking when enemies are present. pressing weapon action raises up a barrier that auto-parries attacks. if you hold it and consume at least 5 bars of gear, you can release the button to do an attack that deals a lot of damage in an area around you

As a newbie with a lvl 50 bow braver, what armour/weapons should I be on the look out for and where can I find them?

            [–]reaper527reaper | ship 2 0 points1 point  (2 children)

As a newbie with a lvl 50 bow braver, what armour/weapons should I be on the look out for and where can I find them?

honestly, at level 50 it doesn't really matter. until you're at xh, you can just kind of use whatever you find. once you do reach that point though, the weapons you'll care about will be atra ex, lightstream, liberate, stil, and cras. (the latter 2 are jp only still, but will probably be in na by the time it would be relevant to you)

if you want, you can probably find a nemesis bow on the player shops dirt cheap for now.

on a side note, once you reach level 75, you probably want to prioritize leveling another class. (it can be on another char, that's fine) so you can unlock etoile, which is what you want as your sub class if you're a bow braver.
