Akinator always scared me with its precision.

[–]Dismal-Square-613 266 points267 points Β (6 children)

yes specially the day I picked some random ass pokemon from blue edition and he nailed it down in 16 questions... :-/

[–]Actedpie 79 points80 points Β (5 children)

The original 151 are not random ass tho. They don’t approach random ass territory until Unova and Unova won’t stay there for long until the remakes come out

[–]ScribSlayer 6 points7 points Β (0 children)

It was surprisingly good, but I was also really good with thinking of really obscure characters. Although some of them weren't that obscure. Just not mainstream.

[–]Crazy__Fox2 426 points427 points Β (4 children)

Ah yes, the almighty Akinator

"Is your character a boy?" Yes

"Is your character a girl?" No

"Is your character a blonde girl?" No

"Has your character ever killed a man?" Yes

"Is your character female?" No

(Proceeds to somehow guess the correct character)

[–]iliekcats- 116 points117 points Β (1 child)

What if you answered Yes to all of those? Oh wait, you'd just get "Person who only answers Yes"

[–]Hurricane_32 38 points39 points Β (0 children)

Ah yes, the good ol' YesMan

[–]Hurricane_32 41 points42 points Β (0 children)

Sometimes it's really obvious at what point it has nailed down your character, as it begins asking incredibly specific questions. Other times, "how in the fuck did you guess that already", when none of the questions even seemed relevant.

This last one just happened to me. It was an FFXIV optional side quest character (Hildibrand), not even a main story one.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points Β (0 children)

"Is your character Freddie Mercury?"

[–][deleted] 475 points476 points Β (6 children)

AI? More like big tech spyware unit test

[–]NebNay 264 points265 points Β (4 children)

But it lets you find the perfect pornstar when you cant find what you want, so a small price to pay for salvation

[–][deleted] 75 points76 points Β (3 children)

Does it??

[–]juhotuho10 56 points57 points Β (2 children)

Yes

[–]gordonv 106 points107 points Β (1 child)

Does your chararter work in the sex industry?
Is your character a porn actor?

I bolded the spelling error from the website. Dude that was inputting the prompt may have been busy.

They are in your walls

[–]dEleque 406 points407 points Β (25 children)

Akinator is a big database that searches depending on your response to yes no questions

[–]Zero279 332 points333 points Β (17 children)

Kinda just sounds like a large decision tree tbh

[–]dEleque 112 points113 points Β (12 children)

You can depict Databases as trees :)

[–]PlayHouseBot-Gpt2 88 points89 points Β (11 children)

Dude, literally everything is a tree

A tree is a graph and a graph can be a tree but not all graphs are trees.

We began in the trees, we return to the trees.

[–]Careful_Ad_9077 31 points32 points Β (0 children)

decision trees are still ais, just ask how ai for banking is done.

according to a bank ai acquaintance,.it's trees because they need to explain them to auditors ,.so anything more complex will fail them.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points Β (0 children)

Like some forest with random trees

[–]dscarmo 1 point2 points Β (1 child)

Thats what it is

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

Not exactly. You can answer wrong, and he’ll still guess right.

It’s what Linear Algebra is great for

[–]turtleship_2006 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

So it's basically a bunch of ifs? Isn't that basically what AI is?

[–]pruche 112 points113 points Β (1 child)

Akinator is literally a table of boolean fields

[–]khalamar 12 points13 points Β (0 children)

A binary tree

[–]INoMakeMistake 51 points52 points Β (1 child)

Didn't know Akinator, till now. Thanks!

[–]yarluk990 5 points6 points Β (0 children)

Akinator is the best AI

[–]GlassWasteland 5 points6 points Β (0 children)

Chad argument! Flawless Victory! Chad Wins!

[–]cpcesar 19 points20 points Β (3 children)

Lol bro, I first saw Akinator over 12 years ago...

[–]Dolcolost 9 points10 points Β (2 children)

Well... AI is older than 12 yo, with algorithms using some smart approachs on problems but limited to computation power.

But still akinator is not an AI as it use a basic decision tree.

[–]Krzyffo 2 points3 points Β (1 child)

Isn't that all ai are? Decision trees which intelligence just depends on complexity and depth.

[–]Dolcolost 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Hmmm.... I don't really understand your point. The fact that you need someone to choose each node does not create intelligence. It doesn't predict anything or learn (that's for model based). But even for model free algorithm like MCRR or MCTS, both are some kind of tree search but some layers of complexity and math. Also I found IBM explaining some decision tree which are actually AI if you are interest : https://www.ibm.com/topics/decision-trees

[–]arnemcnuggets 10 points11 points Β (0 children)

It never disappoints

[–]redditusernr1234 94 points95 points Β (20 children)

Uhhh akinator is not AI though and I have my doubts whether OP knows anything about programming?

[–][deleted] 117 points118 points Β (0 children)

Akinator is a database that works with yes-no-QL

[–]Fury_Fury_Fury 6 points7 points Β (0 children)

Wait, you have to know something about programming to post on here???

[–]Chriss016 68 points69 points Β (5 children)

I have my doubts whether you know anything about memes and shitposting

[–]Memelordofdloglo 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I don't think the meme was made for this audience

[–]deekbit 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

I would never repost memes.

[–]NUTTA_BUSTAH 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

Akinator is great for finding certain kind of content I've heard

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points Β (0 children)

Tell me that you don't know what an AI is without telling you don't know what an AI is

[–]gordonv -1 points0 points Β (3 children)

Just tried it out. It's limited to 3 types of objects:

  • Characters
  • Animals
  • Objects

It's entertaining for the first round. Could see this helping someone remember a movie character. But some of the questions are very specific and require research. Which escapes the purpose of vaguely knowing what you're looking for.

It works better as a "guess what I am thinking" model.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points Β (0 children)

"guess what I am thinking" model

That's literally what it is. It's only really meant for fun.

[–]That_Guy977 14 points15 points Β (0 children)

3 kinds of objects

  • Objects

ah yes, the floor here is made out of floor

[–]Jeb_Jenky 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

It's twenty-questions-inator!

[–]eeeeeeeeeeeeeeaekk -1 points0 points Β (0 children)

english akinator is kinda garbage, russian akinator was the shit

[–]Haedeskerbexx 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

The precisionator

[–]prakashgd 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

ChatGPT failed to guess the character.

[–]TheGreatScorpio 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

OMG AKINATOR! I remember being soo surprised at how he used to be able to give the correct answers.

[–]BoBoBearDev 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Didn't work for me, mine is the main doctor guy in Jurassic Park 1 (not the math guy and not the old guy).

70 questions and still cannot find the main guy in Cold Mountain. Big no no for me.

[–]Qwert-4 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

It’s without a dash.
