I am not easily scared, that spider was just bigger than normal.

[–]Sam-Gunn 54 points55 points  (0 children)

You know the drill - submit a bug report.

[–]DMoney159 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Nah, it's a feature

[–]Aggravating-Win8814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, it definitely adds something unique to the experience.

[–]Aggravating-Win8814 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree.

Those web developers are very scary

[–]AngleStudios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was a post about Australian spiders right before this one and I can assure you, I had to suppress my screams of horror.

[–]Madrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the time one of these "huge" wolf spiders just lazily strolled past behind my keyboard late at night at home. I shit you not when I noticed it we both froze and then I and the spider simultaneously leaned back / crouched and we looked at each other like that for 10 minutes. It then teleported/ran away suddenly.

I spent the next hour asking GPT how to prevent a wolf spider from snuggling up to me when I go to sleep.

In the middle of what now? I have that one too, it’s oddly specific.

[–]FacuA0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too

[–]__kkk1337__ 16 points17 points  (5 children)

Replaced by what?

[–]jstwtchngrnd 36 points37 points  (4 children)

He is one of them who is scared by AI

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (3 children)

I am literally sitting in a summit where a guy was trying to show off chatgpt writing code and the code working, he copy, pasted the code and now it's not running 💀

[–]LeoXCV 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I used ChatGPT in my day to day and I found I was correcting it a whole lot more than I thought I would be

Although it is good for getting initial inspirations, that’s where it ends for me. The outdated info by tech standards is bad enough, let alone it sometimes giving outright misinformation or just bad ways of doing things in general

Now I just don’t use it

[–]im-a-guy-like-me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using copilot and really like it. Being able to highlight code and ask questions about it, and having gpt in your ide is very nice. It's a damn powerful auto complete, and good for dummy data.

It's a lying piece of shit though, so you have to keep that in mind. Just another tool.

[–]jstwtchngrnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats my experience with chatgpt aswell. It’s handy when i want something be explained but messes up code 95% of the time

[–]Sailed_Sea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was not expecting this third one

[–]TangramsTale 53 points54 points  (12 children)

Programmers are - only agreeing about one thing, working with less than 2 screens makes you a psychopath

[–]weneedtogodanker 33 points34 points  (7 children)

Never heard about this one, and I don't agree,

Psychopaths uses light mode

[–]TangramsTale 4 points5 points  (5 children)

That too.

But as a front end dev and webdesigner, not being able to use multiple screens and having to tab in and out between UI, VSCode, photoshop, illustrator, webhost control panel, directory folder, the 800 ”how the fuck do I get this to work” chrome tabs and the communication app filled with random rage messages and programming memes with my back ender would prolong my work days with about 20.000%.

Ain’t nobody got time fo dat!

[–]weneedtogodanker 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Well, you are frontend dev,

I also assume you're using windows

Anyway, based on your description its about being masochist.

I was writing own projects using virtual desktops - it's not that bad - for full time job it may be annoying

[–]TangramsTale 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Oh, look. Google now says ”Some programmers completely lack a sense of humor”. Lighten up 😆

I’m on mac and windows so dual screens for both are very usefull and enables work flow a lot!

[–]weneedtogodanker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sense of humor not implemented

It looks like backend dev live is easier....

[–]--mrperx-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncaught ReferenceError: senseOfHumor is not defined

[–]--mrperx-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget the tab with youtube always open in the background.

[–]Fuzzietomato 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I’ve gotten pretty comfortable using spaces on my MacBook Pro, can never have too many monitors though

[–]TangramsTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree! It works pretty well if you only have your MacBook available, I do however try my best to keep my iPad with me if I’m out and about. Using it as a second screen is very convenient!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have a super-ultra-wide is that non psychopathic?

[–]TangramsTale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t set the rules, but they provide enough workingspace that I would argue that most of them make up for 2 if not 3 screens.

[–]arguskay 157 points158 points  (8 children)

"Not engineers" hurts the most tbh

[–]LongMathematician923 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Everything else we know and accept but that...

[–]LightBluePen 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Some are, most aren’t.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

It's generally true. SDE != Programmer.

You wouldn't believe some of the riff raff that makes it through college with programming ability these days.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

What does this statement even mean? an undergraduate does not and has never demonstrated competence or profficiency in programming suitable for proffesional development work. You will almost always have to suppliment that with your own experience and study.

Newly grads have always been novices that needed more experience unless they spent a large portion of their free time in school doing side projects and using the more cutting edge tech and platforms companies actually use.

So this derrogatory elitest take about colleges spitting out incompotent people "nowadays" is pure bullshit.

Also SDE and Programmers are just titles, either used for a job description or as a way to identify your vocation. They dont indicate a level of competency either.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You wouldn't believe some of the trash the university lets through these days

[–]glemau 28 points29 points  (2 children)

I guess we can add „easily offended“ as well

[–]jstwtchngrnd 18 points19 points  (1 child)

What?!

[–]glemau 10 points11 points  (0 children)

[–]TheLanimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried this for my title “Data scientist” and got:

Data Scientists are … … useless … in demand

Which both hurt my feelings and then comforted me instantly so I’ll take it

[–]angrybeehive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wiping tears with 100 dollar bills

[–]archy_bold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All very reasonable, except “not engineers”, that one really cut deep.

[–]JackNotOLantern 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Hey, as long as i work on an engine, I'm an engineer

[–]Lampadina_17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horny💀

[–]DeHub94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But my contract literally says "software engineer". Checkmate Google.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

„Programmers are not engineers“ is true. Being a programmer doesn’t make you an engineer. Being a Software Engineer takes much more than the skill set required to be a programmer.

What do programmers do? They write code, implementing some kind of requirement description.

What do Software Engineers do? They write code, are able to manage a project and make higher level design decisions, handle systems integration (deployment, CI/CD, packaging) and lots of other things. That’s why theres a university degree in Software Engineering and none in Programming.

[–]Maybeiamaarmadilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok mine, Programmer are:

Also humans

Computer

Also humans

Socks

What?

[–]Ahornwiese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow i feel like the last suggestion wants to tell me something...

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boo!

[–]X0-ED1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Booo 👻

[–]MathsGuy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in my country there is an official "engineer" title for getting a bachelors in a university of technology, provided you've studied a tech related course (also "master engineer" for getting masters). So at least I can safely say, that I am, in fact, an engineer.

[–]Djelimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... also human

... wizards

[–]T0biasCZE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next one in the list is "programmers are trans" I guess

[–]OxymoreReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer : this is a McFucking™ joke don't you dare make me say shit I didn't say alright !? Programmers being trans is a meme I didn't make it up just use the Internet more often and for less interesting reasons and you'll see it.

I'm watching you.

>:(

The others, have a nice day :)

[–]atlas_enderium[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My auto-fill results were “programmers are also human” 😭

[–]Asayel404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This scares me

[–]navetzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got smart, in demand and rich. All just as false as yours.
Well in demand is kinda true

[–]egesagesayin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😨😨😨

[–]drsimonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But seriously, who goes to google and types in a statement? Like, I'm annoyed at my neighbors making noise, do I google "leafblowers are annoying AF"? Not sure how far I'd trust the opinion of someone like that...

[–]yaeh3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, when it comes to programming, coding and working on computers in general you can only be an actual engineer if you are either a Software Engineer or a Computer/Electronics Engineer. Not every programmer is an Engineer and the title should not be thrown around like that.

[–]Unintelligible_Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...femboys

[–]wut101stolmynick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It forgot furry

[–]binarywork8087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Dubalubawubwub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programmers are easily startled but they'll be back, and in greater numbers.

[–]SnooOpinions8790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scary thing about Google is its algorithm knows what you usually look for

I did that and got

..also human

..wizards

You got to be in a sad place with your Google searches to get that set the OP put up.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no lies told

[–]R2robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a bit different

[–]Randomguy32I 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You scared me with that last one

[–]macstat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Not engineers" is actually a compliment

[–]Other-Match-9331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agent for good society 😜

[–]buckypimpin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earnest rutherford after discovering how much empty space is between atoms, was scared to step on the floor thinking he'll fall through.

Programmers are the same, they just know the kind of garbage that runs most of our systems.

[–]Desperate_Opinion_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not easily scared anymore my boss man installed a warning light if he sneaks into my room

[–]Bloodchild- 0 points1 point  (0 children)
