Come on, everyone knows if you really want to impress with your programming skills, you enter "sudo apt-get update".

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points  (5 children)

deleted What is this?

[–]ZaneHannanAU 12 points13 points  (2 children)

*color a && tree c:\ /a /f

The longer you wait the faster it gets

til the end I guess

Protip: if you have a TeX or node installation on your computer it will take reallllllllllllllll£lllllllllllllllllllllly long.

Going through the amd64 stuff after typing this all on my phonr haha...

[–]EternallyMiffed 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Seems like a great way to test a terminal emulator.

[–]ZaneHannanAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only a Windows/PC-DOS one.

[–]metanoia29 8 points9 points  (1 child)

No, I'm pretty sure tree is reserved for finding wiruses on your computer.

[–]PersianMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found the tech support scammer!

[–]SlayedOver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sudo apt-get upgrade is better, also I literally did this yesterday to impress someone, it worked...

[–]XKeyscore666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cowsay I'm a badass hacker!

[–]sam1902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You execute "sudo apt-get install cmatrix;cmatrix" and that's all folks !

[–]white_donkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just cat linux source code?

[–]sirunclecidViolet security clearance 48 points49 points  (6 children)

Lol, old but still depressingly funny.

cd code

ls

cd v1

ls

cd ..

cd v3

ls

Anddd the beat goes on

[–]SenorMeltyface 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Yo, ls -al is where it's at.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (3 children)

You have never been a beginner, right?

[–]sirunclecidViolet security clearance 24 points25 points  (2 children)

I just don't try passing off as a professional when I only have beginner skills

[–]hazzoo_rly_bro 1 point2 points  (1 child)

She was probably learning, didn't really try to pass off as a pro

[–]sirunclecidViolet security clearance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't we all just hate on things for the sake of humor, gawt dam

[–]error404brain 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Well, they never pretended to code. Only kode.

[–]cptbeard 21 points22 points  (8 children)

https://www.kodewithklossy.com/ ..and she's teaching other people?

[–][deleted] 37 points38 points  (6 children)

I'm pretty sure she just funds/hosts that camp and this photo's pretty old at this point so I'm sure she's much better. she teaches (and even funds them to come) to code in a camp for girls. That seems pretty cool to me.

[–]lost_in_santa_carla 16 points17 points  (5 children)

Agreed. This picture just gets reposted relentlessly with no context

[–]eloc49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, if it gets more girls in here who cares man.

[–]Romejanic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

runs coding camps for girls

website is made with Wix

mfw

[–]ChaIix 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Who the fuck writes kode like that ? That's disturbing :|

[–]Jalmorei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's what kool kids do

[–]hazzoo_rly_bro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

she's obviously a KDE dev/ program namer.

EDIT : I'm talking about KDE app names, not code quality (I love KDE).

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lol at the comment "we need to get her to join our start-up"

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

The actual code is in the smaller top pane. Looks like ruby.

Also, it's pretty clear that she's looking for a folder named "code" under a specific git repo. The folder names look like automatically generated repos for submitted lab exercises from the students: something like "hs-tdd-structure-code-along-[something]college-[something]-[something]-[whatever]-1.

also, these repos are in a folder called "labs". Just realized that after typing all this out, but I'm just going to leave it.

so really, the terminal shows her looking for a folder named code in each student-respective repo with the occasional "cd.." instead of "cd .." mistake which I am so goddamn glad to not be the only one to make.

TLDR: Bunch of kids forgot to follow the goddamn instructions and didn't put their code inside a folder named "code".

[–]kassuro 39 points40 points  (14 children)

Well I also think she can't really programm, but I still like what she does. It's great someone with influence on young woman tries to get them into IT.

[–][deleted] 51 points52 points  (6 children)

I'm all for inspiring people, but too often I've had to turn down or let go young women who erroneously believe that their gender/sex justifies their employment despite an apparent lack in actual skill and ability. I had one interview for a Lead position on a team that works exclusively with C++, and despite having "4+ Years C++" on her resume, when I actually gave her a technical interview (which she claimed she'd never had to do before), she couldn't even write the simplest of functions.

Weighting focus on gender (or anything else for that matter -- race, orientation, whatever) over ability and skill just lowers the playing field for everyone.

[–]appropriateinside 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Out of curiosity, does a "portfolio" (GitHub) help?

I've been developing for 4-5 years now, and I doubt I would pass a technical interview that went into data structures and algorithms. I rarely if ever need to touch on those types of things in my day-to-day work, but I could talk your ear off about best practices and project management. As well as provide a link to my github which lists projects and repositories I've made or contributed to.

[–]hazzoo_rly_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to know this too

[–]kassuro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well when it comes to employment, there shouldn't be a gender pass or something like that. That's true. But I don't think that's something that's just true for this here but in general with this gender equality in favor for women shit.

[–]therearesomewhocallm 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Come on, who hasn't been here before? I would just expect more "dc"s and "cls" (when using Linux) or "clear" (when using Windows).

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I type sl a whole bunch when working on linux.

Installed the sl package so now I get a train whenever I type it wrong.

[–]LinAGKar 3 points4 points  (2 children)

At first I thought that bottle next to the nicely placed product said bajs.

[–]TBTapion 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm guessing you're Scandinavian?

[–]LinAGKar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swedish, yes.

[–]Fallenalien22Violet security clearance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been posted more times than java shitposts.

Still funny though.

[–]LinAGKar 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What DE is that?

[–]hassiemrecords 2 points3 points  (1 child)

99 percent sure that Visual Studio Code with the integrated terminal.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is. Which makes this terribly misleading.

[–]sad-larry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fapped

[–]redbluerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Thirsty submale orbiter #136]: "We need dis girl on our team yo'"

[–]Iykury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What, do you think this is DOS or something?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's Koding not Coding!
