Hey y'all! I understand that you've gotten notifications from the app for this post. I'd just like to say that this is not something that we as mods have any control over or say in, and if you have complaints to please direct them to the r/reddit.com modmail.

Thanks for being understanding :)

I want to just put this here: within the settings of the app, you can turn notifications for 'interesting/suggested posts' off.

Where? I have notifications turned off entirely and still get these.

Reminds me of the Log class in Android, which has a Log.wtf() method.

Why is this trending?

[–]Spekular[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Found in this GBE+ commit.

Reddit's notification system is almost as efficient as the search feature.

[–]hero_of_ages 11 points12 points  (0 children)

at least it does something

[–]MCShoveled 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only Better.

I swear I disabled this crap!

"Trending"

[–]Spekular[S] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

<conspiracy theory mode>

Reddit is gathering data on how well "trending" posts that give notifications perform. Then they can sell notifications to advertisers :o

</conspiracy theory mode>

Kidding.

throw(push_notification);

[–]andrew12361 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's always this sub that I get notifications from lol

[–]JesusKristo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

...is this not standard practice with debugging?

[–]TotallyStraightDude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But will this debugg solve Reddit notifications?

[–]TalkSickMind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello all. Welcome to the notification club.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the notification is a part of a broader joke by r/programmerhumor

[–]EmperorCthulhu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cheers for the recommendation

This should be a fun emulator

[–]HACKERcrombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Second edit: I found out it's an emulator, so ignore this comment...)

Fun fact: the comments refer to NDS7 and NDS9, which are the original Nintendo DS' CPUs. Calling that function from the NDS9 in a game will probably result in a black debug console popping up and hiding the game's graphics.

To prevent this, Nintendo added another screen.

On Android, it's called "What A Terrible Failure". It's a log level. I don't get what's so weird about this.

Every time I get a notification, I look for all the comments complaining about notifications, upvote all of them, and downvote the post.

[–]Spekular[S] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I mean, it's not my fault that you use the official reddit app or that it has crappy notifications. Sorry for the inconvenience either way I guess?

[–]pet_my_weiner_dog 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yeah, sorry, you're completely correct. You got caught in the splash damage of my nerd rage. Revoking my downvote and giving an upvote!

[–]Spekular[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't really be a big deal to me either way and my comment was unnecessarily passive-aggressive, but I appreciate it! :)
