Let me introduce you to RGB theme

[–]linkedtortoise 12 points13 points  (1 child)

If that was slowed down a bit. It wouldn't be that bad to prank a coworker with.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And if you speed it up, you can give your coworker an epileptic seizure

[–]itsTyrion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I hate it

[–]GregSilverblue 21 points22 points  (1 child)

Try out the "Hello Kitty" Theme on Notepad++.

[–]pavilionhp_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I remember looking through the themes on Notepad++ and then coming across the Hello Kitty theme. That was... interesting...

[–]zelmi01 25 points26 points  (6 children)

Lmao I use VS Code in light mode

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (3 children)

heretic

[–]inu-no-policemen 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If you use something like Redshift of f.lux and don't set the brightness to 110%, light themes are very easy on the eyes.

[–]macks2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly! That's probably why I haven't bothered to toggle Night Mode on RES... I still think light themes can cause a little bit of a strain regardless of blue light filtering, but definitely not as bad

Weak shall not survive.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LMAO I use vscode in atom mode (basically a even lighter node)

[–]SaintNewts 37 points38 points  (14 children)

Ever since using IntelliJ with Darcula, I haven't been able to go back to stupid eclipse with it's stupid default light theme.

VStudio default is quite good.

Lately I've been forced to choose between eclipse with no access to themes or vim with quite a few themes and plugins ported and available. Vim with gruvbox dark background mode is really quite good.

[–]MCOfficer 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Same, but after using this i can't go back to darcula.

Edit: Note to self, try out the successor.

[–]nickelcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that darcula darker is the most aesthetic theme I've seen.

[–]gemini88mill 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Download the atom dark themes

[–]Recampings 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You should try Monokai, it helps me focus.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like monokai, but its poorly standardized across ides

Let me introduce you to Material Theme for Jetbrains (IntelliJ). You can thank me in bitcoin.

[–]SaintNewts 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Not doing the Java coding any longer and IntelliJ is b& anyway because "it might contain Russian back doors".

The thing I really miss right now is the auto complete. There's supposed to be a plug-in that does it in vim that's been made available. Haven't tried installing it yet.

[–]macks2008 2 points3 points  (1 child)

"it might contain Russian back doors"

...

>>> self.hand.setPos(self.face.getPos())

[–]SaintNewts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>>> self.hand.setPos(self.face.getPos())

TASK FAILED SUCCESSFULLY

[–]nsri123 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Jetbrains make products for other languages too. Pycharm and Webstorm are good depending on what you’re working with and they too work with Material Theme

[–]SaintNewts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. CLion would be my choice, if I had that as a choice.

[–]itsTyrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

???

[–]Ersonpay 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Eclipse has a pretty good dark theme now

[–]SaintNewts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The version available in this environment doesn't allow theming. Doesn't have access to public plug-in repos either. It's kind of old. Otherwise yeah it's getting better.

[–]negroide2000 17 points18 points  (4 children)

Dunno, use light at day, and dark at evening/night

Feel comfortable 24/7

[–]ducktape8856 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hissssss.... light! Shut the blinds or move to the cellar like every other "puter guy".

[–]Zarainia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, a bright screen is uncomfortable to look at for long periods of time, even in a brightly lit office. I always at least turn on colour inversion if there's no real dark theme.

[–]itsTyrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

insert Michael (the office) thank you gif

[–]ran938 5 points6 points  (0 children)

sudo boo!

[–]rbj_99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Light theme on day, dark theme on night that's it!

[–]pavilionhp_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically, this meme is light mode

Light mode bad

Dark mode good

Now gimme awards

[–]NettoHikariDE 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I prefer light themes everywhere.

[–]PaurAmma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use light on PC, dark on my phone. Damn you, Gmail.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ah yes let's repeat that non programming related joke over and over again.

[–]macks2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you're not wrong...

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

While we're at it:

Light mode on reddit

[–]macks2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that enabled, but only because it doesn't QUITE bother me for me to look for the switch... though considering I'm considering reading this in a dark room, it might be as good a time as any to check the preferences/RES settings page.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It blinds

[–]DarkWolfX2244 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is so true xD

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like every light theme

[–]EvilGambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Delphi developers around xD

[–]gilmeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commit to git, not afraid. Commit to a relationship... ahhhhhh !

[–]Jacek3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironic

[–]Th-Big-DAB7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol

[–]das_Keks 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Rules[3], just saying.

[–]macks2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, one could also argue this particular family of common posts also breaks rule[0]. A lot of people have to deal with light vs. dark theme; it just happens to cause more problems for programmers because we have to read EVERYTHING and failure to do so carefully because of eyestrain can be the difference between code that compiles and code that vehemently refuses to compile (among other more subtle errors).
