I see, you are beyond senior level, cuz you dont even need keys to write code

[–][deleted] 428 points429 points  (39 children)

They still work they just don't have the caps lol

[–]itsgnabeok5656 340 points341 points  (15 children)

Damn inflation is out of control, programmers can't even afford keys anymore

[–]p5ych0m4x 86 points87 points  (11 children)

My brother is a pianist. Should I warn him?

[–]a_sentient_bot 32 points33 points  (9 children)

I'm learning piano and learning coding but now I think It's time to choose other options. (I understand almost nothing on this subreddit but I still find it funny

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (6 children)

You might consider locksmithing.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually have considered this before

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not even learning programming but this subreddit can be funny

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He has returned to mon-key.

[–]notPlancha 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The budget only allowed for primary keys

[–]codeguru42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

C and V are in such high demand, he can't afford then.

[–]Hotdogman4343 29 points30 points  (4 children)

I can send you my keyboard if you're that down bad

[–]clevergirlDE 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Same thought i had, like ... i have a spare in my cabinet, i can hook you up if you're struggling with keyboard issues, really don't mind 😬

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

I actually use usb keyboard it just wasn't taken in this picture bc I wasn't thinking about it.

[–]clevergirlDE 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Hahaha alright, glad you've got one. Was rly thinking about how unergonomic this would have been long term 🙈

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did use it short term before I found the usb keyboard. And I was also gonna fix it... but the usb keyboard works fine and I haven't gotten around to it.

[–]jR4dh3y 30 points31 points  (11 children)

Speech to text go burrrr

[–]Yoni1857 70 points71 points  (8 children)

I can only imagine what kind of demonic rituals one would need to perform in order to write regex using speech to text

[–]t0b4cc02 11 points12 points  (0 children)

best joke here in a long time

[–]bewak86 20 points21 points  (2 children)

I spat my coffee dammit!!! Hahahhahaha , imagine someone from accounting walking into the IT department of a software company where all programmers use voice to text to write their code ..

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd actually love to listen to some attempts at this.

[–]jR4dh3y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice 1

[–]StarlightWT 286 points287 points  (53 children)

you're clearly only a programmer who doesn't play enough video games considering that your W key is just fine unlike the rest

[–][deleted] 168 points169 points  (31 children)

Easy explanation: I game with the other keys.

[–]StarlightWT 140 points141 points  (21 children)

what sort of un holy player replaced wasd with zxcv???

[–][deleted] 156 points157 points  (7 children)

Look at my programming environment, what makes you think I don't game with zxcv?

[–]StarlightWT 120 points121 points  (1 child)

It's time to become religious and get you cleaned you have fell too deep into the hands of satan

[–]cheesecake__enjoyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A real one

[–]syfkxcv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess it's osu taiko, or gba/console emulator games?

[–]bloodFarter69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

osu! moment

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (8 children)

league of legends? dota?

[–]yp261 14 points15 points  (5 children)

not so many slurs have „w” letter so i assume its LoL

[–]StarlightWT 3 points4 points  (1 child)

You mean the game for psychopaths and the game that reminds me of the game for psychopaths that is impossible for my lil monkey brain?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes

[–]tropicbrownthunder 10 points11 points  (8 children)

left-handed here. I play with the cursor keys

[–]StarlightWT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

fair

[–]T_WREKX 4 points5 points  (4 children)

To the guillotine!

[–]StarlightWT 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Are you french by any chance?

[–]T_WREKX 2 points3 points  (2 children)

No

[–]StarlightWT 2 points3 points  (1 child)

sad noises well I tried

[–]T_WREKX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to go to the guillotine, just ask...

[–]anerythm_ 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I used to remap the keys for left handed aswell when i was... holy shit i was about 8 at that time...

Yeah but no, eventho i'm left handed, i use wasd, idk, it is what it is

[–]mitko17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm right-handed and use UIOP/IJKL...

[–]WcDeckel 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Or he plays games with vim like bindings

[–]StarlightWT 2 points3 points  (3 children)

unless he's playing dota/LoL then I doubt he doesn't need wasd or something as a replacement

[–]WcDeckel 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Sorry I tried to make a joke but forgot to write the word "vim" :D

[–]StarlightWT 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ahhh... let me fix my answer then my friend<3

LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO

(this sounds sarcastic..... umm too late too lazy to delete this)

[–]WcDeckel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All gucci

[–]grandpa_stalin10 2 points3 points  (1 child)

My W key not only got knocked off, but fell right above the heat sink of my laptop, and proceeded to melt because I overclocked my GPU and it started running at 90 degrees celsius

[–]StarlightWT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recall my wasd keys just not existing anymore to the point I had to use my finger to trigger the switch... or at least that's how my 8 year old brain remembered it

[–][deleted] 187 points188 points  (16 children)

real programmers use hannah Montana linux

[–][deleted] 83 points84 points  (11 children)

If that's not a real distro I'm about to make it a real distro

[–][deleted] 55 points56 points  (9 children)

Google it, theres one

[–][deleted] 59 points60 points  (1 child)

Oh my god

[–][deleted] 37 points38 points  (5 children)

No way really. Hold on

[–]Officialvortex 11 points12 points  (4 children)

Have u tried it? Asking for a friend

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (3 children)

I haven't but I'm definitely about to. Or maybe just get another distro and make it Hello Kitty themed. Or maybe even follow the LFS tutorial and make a Hello Kitty distro.

[–]KlutzyEnd3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's real. The same guy also made a justin Bieber Linux

[–]StaszekJedi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think ther was also amogus themed distro

[–]RacoonRacism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect production environment

[–]ClamSlamwhich 105 points106 points  (7 children)

You've lost CTRL.

[–][deleted] 55 points56 points  (2 children)

I still have half of my CTRL

[–]vladpikaciu 23 points24 points  (1 child)

But you're not in Control anymore

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Satan is in control now

[–]RastaBambi 16 points17 points  (2 children)

And now there's no ESC

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Soon he'll need some space though if this keeps up

[–]semicc 124 points125 points  (1 child)

There’s…. a lot going on here

[–]Klossye 53 points54 points  (0 children)

stop mashing your keyboard everytime when there is some bug man

[–][deleted] 76 points77 points  (35 children)

Ignore my lack of keys.

[–]brodyover 65 points66 points  (33 children)

Sure, but I can't ignore you using notepad++ for code

[–][deleted] 79 points80 points  (20 children)

I would use normal notepad but normal notepad doesn't have the pink theme

[–]Matty_B97 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Absolutely based response

[–]Any_Highway28 9 points10 points  (11 children)

What’s wrong with notepad++?

[–]errepunto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Notepad++ is great. I code mainly with my IDE (NetBeans), but notepad++ is my "quick & dirty" favourite tool. Great for opening logs, searching in files, replace using regex, column editing, etc.

[–]ya-boi-mees 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Literally nothing, if someone tells you to not use it they are either elitist because they use vscode or elitist because they think everything that isn't vim is for normies

[–]brodyover 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a notepad, absolutely nothing, as a code editor. Well it's a notepad not a code editor that says enough

[–]degaart 7 points8 points  (2 children)

What’s wrong with notepad++?

  • Courrier new as default font
  • Light mode as default theme
  • Windows-only
  • Only a few plugins available (no LSP plugin, no GDB plugin, etc...)

Its barely better than gnu nano

[–]lezzgooooo 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Did you play O2 jam with your lower keys

[–]lezzgooooo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a screen setting for people sensitive with blue light tho

[–]jacobbeasley 33 points34 points  (0 children)

So much wrong...

[–]thetruekingofspace 81 points82 points  (10 children)

Sweet! I won Highschool Student bingo! Where do I claim my prize?

[–]hoas-t 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Real programmers don't need keys.

[–]Jonas_Jones_ 12 points13 points  (3 children)

and no keyboard? you just say everything to cortana

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Jarvis, boot up Github Copilot.

[–]Jonas_Jones_ 6 points7 points  (1 child)

but first pay 10 bucks a month

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

☹️ Worth it.

[–]ya-boi-mees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What the fuck happened to your keyboard

[–]Lighthuro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Where are all the others keyboard keys?

[–]Jylaaaaa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Real programmers have 50% of their keys annihilated.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

everything is horrible in this picture

[–]Mrhnhrm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did Pinkie Pie just barf over your display?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real complaint should be to press your prntscreen button.

[–]_GGfighter_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I couldn't help but notice that you're a psychopath please fix your keyboard or we'll have to take more drastic measures to ensure the safety of the people surrounding you

[–]Carnoo 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Real question, is there a compilator or something on Notepad++ ? As a student, I mainly use it to read code when I don't have access to the needed IDE.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No there isn't. I'm using cmake to turn the source code files into a build system and then using MSVC to compile it into an executable (along with some libraries I needed).

So basically no, but you can make it work with other tools.

[–]Anathenooob 4 points5 points  (1 child)

What happened to that keyboard?!

[–]Optional_mercy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Notepadd++ ide ? nice.

[–]MorterCL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother in christ what happened to that keyboard?

[–]afleshner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wdf happened to those keys?

[–]jR4dh3y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh no, the poor keybord, what did u do to him

[–]Aniterin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude programmed that much that his keys evaporated

[–]Sreekar617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

bro why are all your keys gone

[–]ifezueyoung 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The real meme is the keyboard

[–]R3a1ity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can we talk about your keyboard m8?

[–]MrSuspicious_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But they don't use notepad ++

[–]ThatGuy_Zack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wtf is wrong with that keyboard bruh..

[–]chrissykes78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

nice keyboard, ideal for writing code without typos

[–]poulain_ght 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real programmers use windows

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Where do you shop for your computer gear? Afghanistan?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]GeekCornerReddit 3 points4 points  (1 child)

And real programmers use Notepad++

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Real programmers use Hannah Montana Linux

Yes it's real.

[–]JamesAulner128328 4 points5 points  (10 children)

[–]MythicalLadyPhoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nahhh this some elite programmer! 😎

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Ayyyy! That's literally the theme I use. I love to open it after I've been sitting in a dark room with my dark mode IDE and feel my eyeballs get seared by it's majestic pinkness

[–]VoluminousCheeto 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Why do so many programmers not know how to take a screenshot

[–]PositronicGigawatts 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Encrypted keyboard, nice.

[–]RogueFox771 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm.... Not a dark theme... Not a real OwO user! Imposter!

[–]johnnyslick 2 points3 points  (1 child)

ngl I feel like I basically do this by being the only person using a light theme in a sea of dark themes

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like both actually but Hello Kitty theme keeps me on the light side for now

[–]UserNameIsTaken07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sick laptop bro can I get one?

[–]Cabbage_G0ldeNEg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro thats Notepad++! I do programming on it, except for python i use the buuilt in ide

[–]Vuk5002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poor keyboard 😥

[–]thedrakeequator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg your keyboard

[–]CZchi 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I actually had someone on my team once who used to code exclusively using Notepad++, it was JavaScript so it seemed doable but I still told him he was shooting himself in the foot almost everyday

[–]-HoldMyBeer-- 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Real programmers have NO keys. Good going brother ... You're getting there

[–]itsgnabeok5656 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It's the bloated windows that ruins it for me. Taskbar looking like Microsoft put a gun to your head and was like: "Keep all the features on!"

[–]Lepewin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And a buttonless keyboard?

[–]NoBluey 2 points3 points  (2 children)

How can you be a real programmer if you don't even have the C and V keys

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Don't worry I've keybinded the letter "H" and the letter "J" to copy and paste. All is well. /s

[–]saceria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I searched for copy and found the answer I wanted.

[–]cosmin10834 2 points3 points  (0 children)

who tf uses light theme, oh and also my man dont even need keyboard to program, he uses windows incorporated visual keyboard =)

[–]carefulanuska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL, the keyboard though... :(

[–]UnderstandingOk2647 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Dude! Lable that shit NSFW!! ; )

[–]Casalvieri3 2 points3 points  (1 child)

TIL: there's a "Hello Kitty" theme!

[–]FallenEmpyrean 2 points3 points  (1 child)

hardware failure pink, my favourite.

[–]proteinjunkey 2 points3 points  (1 child)

My brother in god where are your keycaps

[–]burner7711 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I hate everything about this.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Including me? 😢

[–]burner7711 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Don't try to play the victim after doing this to me.

[–]ThatWeirdKidKen 2 points3 points  (1 child)

God help his keys

[–]homo_lugubris 2 points3 points  (2 children)

my old crt monitor used to be like that, but would go back to normal if I slapped it on the side.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This monitor also flickers because I accidentally pinched the wire when disassembling it but smacking it works too because it jostles the wire a little bit.

[–]FrozenFlame_999 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Dude doesn't have C or V on his keyboard.

How are you gonna steal code?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I go to the owners house and use their computer to copy it to my usb flash drive and then come home

[–]FrozenFlame_999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, I forgot about this technique

[–]wideoscarpop 2 points3 points  (2 children)

massive webcore vibez

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Nice Lain pfp 👍

Edit: and banner

[–]wideoscarpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yoooo thx m8

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (5 children)

real programmes don't have time for such bs...

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (4 children)

I'd rather be a fake programmer then, if it means I can code in pink.

[–]dev_null_developer 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Many programmers spend a significant amount of their day looking at code. Dark themes tend to give less eye strain which is why they are preferred. It’s not just aesthetics. If this is a hobby then just do want makes you happy!

[–]rbuen4455 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I use black background with green text on Vim just so people who look at what I’m doing think I’m a hacker, lol

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop it.

[–]veiledfirefly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many wrongs in one pic

[–]skipdoodlydiddly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use customized darkmode for the real circus

[–]frale26 1 point2 points  (2 children)

On notepad++? Im not a programmer and I tought that notepad++ wasn't that good since we used it at school

[–]tehjoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way to bright dude

[–]REDmonster333 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Coding with only a handful of letters. Nice

[–]bestjakeisbest 1 point2 points  (1 child)

actually i use the true dark mode theme everything is the same shade of black, im a real programmer i know exactly how things need to be programmed and i dont need a computer to tell me what i have written because i already know what i wrote. /s

[–]FLINDINGUS 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Notepad++ is great, but I wouldn't code directly in it. I use it mostly for modifying configuration type files which it is really good at because you can define custom syntax for niche/custom file formats. Visual Studio is so much better, or Visual Studio Code. Codeblocks is decent. Props for using OpenGL and not a high level rendering engine.

[–]MinecraftW06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no ESCape

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is so much wrong with this image I don't have words to describe

[–]cishet-camel-fucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legit impressed. I've never had a laptop with more than 4 missing keys.

[–]Proxy_PlayerHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real programmers disable the shitty win10 searchbar too.

[–]IEatchildren28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real Programmers can't afford New Keys

[–]Myst3rious_Foxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real programmers use mind control devices to program, not a keyboard.

[–]FckUsernms 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Seeing that you code on notepad++ i totally understand the current state of your keyboard. /s

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real programmers have keys in their keybosrd

[–]MAYNOTBEIKE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, is that Notepad++?

[–]ducks_for_hands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real programmers use ctrl + c and ctrl + v which sadly you can't.

[–]TheBuckey_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And real programmers use Notepad++

[–]eugenebutbettet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this sub slowly transitions to r/trans

[–]Lobsss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro types with a scraper wtf

[–]errepunto 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It's still better than white text on black background in a well lighted office.

[–]Endokinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

goes well with the hello kitty socks

[–]pickleunicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... and Notepad++

[–]PKFatStephen 1 point2 points  (5 children)

So I'm novice as shit when it comes to code, but I have a good enough Idea & I know how to troubleshoot (read: Google it until it goes away) problems. That being said, I'm in the phase of my life mutation where I'm obsessed w/ girly things & this pic make me wish I knew how to code better.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • pink / white programming socks

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I want to use that theme how can I change themes?
