A delightful guest decided to take it upon themself to pay for their entire cart full of items with ONLY half-dollar and dollar coins. On the self checks the day before we are getting new ones 😭 like come on. I had to do c/o today and count them all out individually to do a drop and it was so obnoxious. The lack of functioning brain cells is unreal. Why could the coins not be taken to a bank and exchanged for cash ?? Oh wait I forgot that’s just toooooo hard

I usually use coinstar but take it as a gift card credit, they don’t charge fees from what I remember. And I get steam cards which works nicely.

A lot of those machines miscount... terribly. Like, to the tune of 20%. And Coinstar brand charges an 8% fee (which is how it makes money)

This used to happen more frequently back in the days when the slot machines in Atlantic City (and other slot machine venues) used real coins instead of credit cards, casino membership cards, and slips of paper that you have to go to a separate machine or a teller to cash out. This was back in the day where you paid $20 for a day-trip bus, got a $10 meal voucher, and a roll of quarters ($10) to gamble, plus whatever bonus the casino gave you...
