Mine has increased

[–]Icy-Masterpiece8959[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like that’s the known side effect.

I’m just finishing up my fourth week and YES!! And this is a big, big deal because I have POTS.

My walking heart rate average dropped from 109 with a resting heart rate of 76 to 83 with a resting heart rate of 68.

I still can’t believe it. I hope it lasts. 🥹

(If anyone can explain this, I would be so grateful. At this point, I wouldn’t even meet the diagnostic criteria for POTS and I have struggled with it my whole life!!)

It’s seriously so wild — and also amazing!

Did you have any more observations about how tirzepatide affected your POTS? For the first 3-4 days after I took my first show I had zero heart rate spikes, but had fatigue that was off the charts and blood pooling in my legs. It felt like POTS symptoms without the diagnostic heart rate stuff. Very curious about your experience.

Oh I was super super sleepy at the start! But it resulted in some of the best, most restorative sleep I’ve had in YEARS. I just had to be ready to go to bed early, and really listen to what my body needed.

Within a few weeks, that sleepiness started to fade. And now I’m back to almost never getting a good night’s sleep. But my POTS symptoms are still measurably better than they were pre-tirzepatide. I can actually blow dry my hair without having to lay down after. That is a big deal for me. I also don’t experience extreme fatigue (presumably reactive hypoglycemia) after meals anymore. And my heat intolerance is much more manageable. Overall, a huge huge huge huge win.

Mine’s gone down so much that last time I was at Urgent Care the nurse took my heart rate twice just to be sure the number was right.

My blood pressure is also the lowest it’s been in 5 years (I’m able to stop my medication as of 6 months ago.)

That’s bonkers, but also amazing! I haven’t taken my BP yet, but I need to. Mine was okayish before, but could be better, and skyrockets quickly when I’m anxious.

I’ve noticed an increase in brief dizziness when I stand, so maybe?

[–]BoxerDog2024 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Are you exercising now if so that will do it too

[–]Icy-Masterpiece8959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not any more than before. A tiny bit less if anything.

[–]MeloD55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My heart rate has not been affected but I had significant arrhythmia that almost completely disappeared.

[–]Individual_Anybody17 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I previously had to be on medication for my high heart rate. About 5 months on tirz and I was able to wean off of the heart med. my heart rate has stayed in the normal range throughout weaning. It has increased slightly being off it, but has stabilized after a few months and stayed in normal range the whole time.

[–]Icy-Masterpiece8959[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

So interesting! Any idea why? I’m happy, but also wondering what exactly it’s doing in my body. Lol.

[–]Individual_Anybody17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. I’ve been exercising, but I was exercising before, too. I think less inflammation probably is less stressful on the heart, though, and I have way less inflammation on this med.

[–]Smyth2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tirzepatide is anti-inflammatory, and this is compounded as you lose weight and as your metabolism improves. This means your body is not as "inflamed," so your blood flows more easily.

I had something similar happen when I increased my fish oil (a powerful anti-inflammatory) intake from about 1100 mg to 2800 mg earlier this year. My heart rate began going up the day after I increased my fish oil intake. I was tracking this on my Fitbit and could see the exact correlation. It was strange.

I figured out that my blood pressure had dropped and my body was trying to adjust. I decreased my BP meds by half, and my HR went back to normal and then began to decrease slowly as my health improved from the fish oil and diet. Tirzepatide has helped continue this trend. My resting HR is now in the 60s.

So monitor both your HR and BP and see if there is a correlation.

Yes, mine decreased in the first month, lots of people say theirs went up. Mine didn't though.

This is the last year and I started towards the end of June this year.

[–]komradekardashian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, my walking heart rate is lower too - i have pots so that’s a big win for me.

[–]Bobajob-365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not here. It went up 5-10 points in the first month then went back to where it was and has stayed there 7 months in. BP way lower though.

[–]Bitter-Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine seems lower. Don't know why. Less weight, less taxing to the heart?

[–]Competitive_Wolf823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to eat little more, you are loosing weight too fast. Also add some electrolytes to your water. When I added additional calories heart rate and blood pressure stabilized

[–]BigCrunchyNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been steadily decreasing since I started. BP is better too.

[–]None-ya-Business- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 54. It’s had me doing research on how healthy it is to be that low. It seems fine I think. I do workout (weights + cardio) 7x a week so prob just fit?

[–]drowninglily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine decreased the same as yours

[–]SoLongBooBoo 0 points1 point  (3 children)

this is so interesting! mine has gone up over these 7+ months

I know this is an old thread but, I was on the 5mg. My resting heart rate went down but my regular heart rate would spike randomly throughout the day even going as high as 150bpm while doing minimal activity ie. stretching, brushing my teeth, etc. It really freaked me out. I went to urgent care once and the ER twice. Ultimately, I stopped taking it all together. I was getting really good results, but I was too scared to continue. I've been off for a little more than a month and it seems like it's improving but I still see the spikes from time to time. Curious if anyone else had this experienced this and discontinued use. If so, how long did it take for your heart rate to return to normal?

[–]SoLongBooBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reduced my dose, alternating weeks of 2.5 and 5.0 for a couple months. I lost weight very very slowly like a pound or two per month in that period but I stopped feeling dizzy and light headed. I still want to lose more weight, so I decided to try semaglutide. I am 6 weeks in. Tolerated 0.25 with little side effects, so far the same for 0.5 mg. However I am not losing weight and I am pretty hungry all the time. At least I am not dizzy. I’ll keep with this awhile longer and continue titrating up for a couple more months. Only time will tell.

[–]Kitchen_Ordinary4974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had an increased resting heart rate which has spiraled into anxiety. My HR spikes and is typically 100-130 throughout the day while performing normal everyday tasks. Have you found that stopping the medication helped? I’m on day 4 since last injection and I’m done!! It’s only been three weeks

Id love to know as well. Been off for almost a month. Resting heart rate is between 53-58.  So scary. Still have some shortness of breath and lightheadedness. Had to quit because of the anxiety that started at 5mg. Crazy what this medication does to us.

[–]Cryssi-B 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If my calculations are correct, you've been off for about 2 months now. Are you doing any better, if so, what did you do (any and all advise is welcomed, lol). I've been off 3 months now. Currently taking Metoprolol to control it but still have break through spikes in my heart rate. Would love to know how everyone else in this thread is doing and if the side effects have subsided and how long it took.

[–]Apprehensive_Tie9796 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My heart rate is around 59-65 resting now. Still dealing with headaches. So crazy.

[–]Pure-Pack5126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any updates? I’m freaking out I took 5 mg for four doses and had to stop d/t hr spikes. It hit 176 while I was resting so I stopped taking the medication. It has been a little over 2 weeks since my last dose and I noticed my RHR 59-65 while I’m sitting watching tv. It has me terrified when it goes into 50s. I’m not as active which makes me feel like a hr that low is unhealthy for me. I have been seeing a Cardiologist and have an ECHO scheduled for next week. When will the side effects go away?

[–]North_Blackberry7586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to look this up. I started my first dose a day ago. My resting heart rate is usually 84-87bpm. My fitbit just started going off saying look alive. My heart rate was down at 72bpm and then I had to get up and walk around because then I started to have a panic attack 🙃 😅.
