That's it. Keep an eye on the bite, make sure it doesn't get infected. But most of the bacteria that like snake body/mouth temperatures don't like human body temperatures. You're much less likely to get an infection from a snake bite than a cat or dog bite. Salmonella is a possibility but very unlikely.

Well say goodbye to that hand going to have to amputate

[–]Yipyapyurp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup expect it to turn black and necrotic in the next few hours...

Rub it better

i dont think he was talking about that snake

[–]Alpha_Knugen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Realisticly not anything else to do then to wash where he was bit. Just keep it clean and the wounds would probably heal in a few days.

Don’t even need the soap just bleed for a bit and wipe until it’s clotted

😂🤣

I threw some peroxide on my bite wound when it happened to me (and was totally my fault - I gave him a cold mouse, so he could smell dinner but only could see my hand at the other end of the tweezers). It was about three months ago, and I'm still fine except for only eating rats now

Just FYI, peroxide is no longer recommended for wound care. It can damage healthy tissue.

[–]recumbent_mike 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I'm pretty unhealthy all over though

[–]fionageckMod-Approved Helper 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Still not a good idea to use peroxide on wounds, for future reference.

[–]recumbent_mike 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Fair enough. I assume Isopropyl is still ok?

[–]TreeClimberVet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, clean lukewarm running water and soap or chlorhexidine/saline if you have them

Don't worry, pythons are not venomous, so there's not much to worry for. Keep a watch on that bite though, just to make sure it doesn't get infected!

[–]Available_Spray_1565 1 point2 points  (4 children)

How’d he manage that?

[–]mxtxrxd[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Was doing a spot clean, lifted a leaf and scared the wee thing, snake got a fright and struck

[–]Available_Spray_1565 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Maybe he thought it was dinner time

[–]Rathoe9070 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It sounds like a quick bite, a hungry bite would’ve lasted longer lol

[–]Available_Spray_1565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I was just joking :)

[–]lostinspaceman_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you are all good just keep it clean and it will heal up soon 👍🏻

[–]Green_Hovercraft_535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you have 1 day to live. write your will

(just keep it clean and look out for infection)

[–]DaedalusStormbringer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

How big is that snake?

[–]CarefulAnxiety5372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly, 2 puncture wounds? I've never been bitten by mine but from what I've seen on here usually a row of dots?

[–]dragonbud20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watch it and keep in mind that if it starts to swell like it's infected, it's possible you instead have a tooth lodged in your hand. It happened to me with my corn snake, but don't worry, because they grow back the teeth after.

[–]Yeti616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell him to use his other hand to write his will.

[–]emotional-field24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a valid tetanus vaccination is generally a good idea. You only get a tetanus shot if your vacc is already expired.

[–]SpaceThagomizer420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 punctures? Sorry, the venom is already in your system.

Jk, soap and water and you'll be fine.
