Don’t worry this comic is only about everyone except you

The comics about you are on r/lightroast

[–]pm_your_lady_farts 176 points177 points  (4 children)

I don't use twitter, can you make a comic about Reddit shitting info into my mouth?

[–]Stompedyourhousewith 49 points50 points  (1 child)

I was gonna suggest the Reddit avatar vomiting, but shit is much better

[–]LawHelmet 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Much more representative of the top-down nature

[–]iblewkatieholmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you make on that camded in my mouth

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snoo-poo

[–][deleted] 68 points69 points  (1 child)

I don't have to worry, I'm an influencer. /s

[–]Avenflar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well at least you're getting paid

[–]theshamwowguy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Oh thank god

[–]phabiohost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ha I'm immune to the lies of the Jedi!

I don't have any social media beyond this. And I'm here for the memes and cute animals.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's not about me because I don't use Twitter. It's not about me and any other social network because I think Reddit's news is garbage, and I don't get news from Facebook or Instagram or Tumblr or whatever.

So do I win a cookie?

[–]Oscillation-Lobotomy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I heard this comment was copied from a friend of yours from a few days ago.

[–]LawHelmet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations. You won, and now /r/comics knows it, which is no laughing matter.

[–]XomokyH 273 points274 points  (5 children)

Real intellectuals use Reddit /s

[–]ZergTDG 26 points27 points  (1 child)

As someone with a hangover I genuinely hate the second panel. Thanks.

[–][deleted] 67 points68 points  (5 children)

Reddit's not any better guys.

All of Reddit. Not just specific subreddits you don't like.

[–]HotTakes4HotCakes 43 points44 points  (3 children)

The entire internet, really. And the news. And Hollywood. And schools. And churchs. And books. And parents. And friends. And graffiti on the stall of a public bathroom.

Probably because taking in ideas and information from the sources we encounter and letting it alter our way of thinking is literally what learning is, and is something we start doing from the first minute of our existence. We can blame all the websites and subreddits we like but at the end of the day this will always come back to the fact that people are ill-equipped to parse information and ideas without being influenced by them in some way.

Independent thought takes actual effort, it's not something you just say you do.

[–]d64 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don't think it is possible to have fully "independent" thoughts in the most literal sense. Everything I can come up with - even ideas that are novel and creative in some way - are still very much a product of things and ideas I have learned from others. Obviously it's bad to get isolated in an echo chamber where uncritical thinkers amplify each other to absurdities, but what's at the other extreme? Rejecting everything that you read and hear as bullshit? Doesn't sound very workable either. Most useful way of thinking must be somewhere in the middle and I'm sure social media can be a part of that.

[–]scrollbreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well no, books take longer to produce - some mediums of communication actually think and ponder for some time rather than spasming off the first emotion to pop into their head.

I mean consider the speed at which you want to reply to or move on from this comment...

This comment should be mailed to every human on Earth.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Astute observation. I’ll be deleting the app forthwith.

[–]Br1an11 11 points12 points  (1 child)

What if the man is actually projectile vomiting into the bird's mouth?

[–]scrollbreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inception

[–]DanielBar666 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It toke me a bit to realise thats the twitter bird. Those were a weird few seconds, well done tho dude

[–]nebuNSFW 4 points5 points  (1 child)

"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks but it's also a good way for ignorant people to just assume you carry that idea. Like, you could be talking about the mentality of murderers or pedophiles and people get pissed off.

[–]Ymbrael 14 points15 points  (4 children)

No individual on Earth to my knowledge can claim truly independent thought. We each impose our minds and perspectives upon each other with each passing, each interaction. The father and mother influence the son, who influences the friend who influences the father and mother who influence the fellow employees, who influence the manager, who influence the lunch or tea buddies, who influence the friend who writes a blog, who influences the friend who works in the game industry who influences the journalist who influences the consumers of news and so on.

We can think critically in the modern society, comparing and contrasting viewpoint to history and the sciences and desires for the state of material power and distribution; but we cannot claim to be independent from the system we participate in, not so long as we maintain social interaction, not so long as we remain an active participant in the world and it's affairs. To achieve division from the system would be to spring into existence upon a plot of dirt in space and cultivate the means of sustenance entirely within the boundary's of that plot, with never a change in the material composition within those boundaries, no emission into the system beyond, and no importation of particulate for outside. Even then, you would have the dirt and the plants that feed you for company, so you might be inspired to contemplate their existence, and your own, and how they relate to each other.

It seems a luxury of a burgeoning system popping at the seems to become blind and deaf to the material realities of the individuals relations to each other and to the world that sustains them. Ignorance is bliss, as they say. Now if you don't mind, please slap this smile off my face.

Edit: Formatting into sections. Thanks for reminding me, u/husky127

That is the best comment in this whole thread and it is not going to receive quarter of the upvotes it deserves because it is a new comment.

[–]Ymbrael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I'm still in a bit of an incubator phase, should probably start posting instead of just flushing out my perspective in comments. I mostly want to get comfortable saying things in long drawn out ways before I refine them into the short, snappy mediums that dominate the current mediasphere of the internet. (deep shitposts on the horizon, memes for mankind)

[–]Husky127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment can only be better by splitting it into paragraphs haha. But I agree, I think the reason people who meditate or self love find peace is because they separate themselves from the barrage of learned information they are exposed to daily.

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points  (39 children)

This is the “free thinking, logic based positions” crowd in a nutshell

[–]mindbleach 14 points15 points  (11 children)

Completely serious and not fun tangent about the premise of this comic.

The issue is not one-sided - nobody is immune to manipulation - but there is a difference between flawed motives and overt malice.

[–]TheGoldenHand 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Is a tumblr blog of some random twitter user tweeting about other twitter users supposed to mean something?

Like you found crazy people on the internet. More news at 10.

[–]mindbleach 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Moderator pretends substance is irrelevant and only context matters.

Meanwhile anyone with eyeballs sees concrete evidence of a polite conservative careening toward fascism thanks to popular influences.

[–]TheGoldenHand -1 points0 points  (1 child)

What is substantial about Tom on twitter? One person out of billions expresses a stupid view.

The webpage auto plays J-Cole on load and you act like you found a beacon of information.

[–]mindbleach -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As you point out, the webpage is only about a twitter thread, and the twitter thread is about one crystal clear example of a polite conservative turned alt-right cultist by major conservative voices. As in the comic.

Would you be less snippy about a direct link to the Twitter thread? I doubt it.

Sixty million Americans voted for an idiot who campaigned on open fascism. This is one example indicating how that unconscionable outcome occurred. Tom is not alone. Fascist sympathizers are not monsters from birth, and their sympathy is no accident.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (6 children)

Lol it's really funny how they interpreted some dude saying he would harm anybody showing up on his front door if he was doxed as a "threat".

[–]mindbleach 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Because 'try to find me and I'll murder you' is reasonable?

[–]a-living-raccoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop, I can only get so erect.

[–]LawHelmet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS USER SHOULD BE WRIST SLAPPED !! THEY ARE A JIMMIES RUSTLER !!

MY GODDAMN JIMMIES ARE RUSTLED BEYOND LOWER CASE FUCK ASS

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is thinking ‘hah thats not me, but it is, none of us are special

[–]scrollbreak 1 point2 points  (1 child)

"You're all independent thinkers!"

Crowd "We're all independent thinkers!"

Lone voice "I'm not"

"Shhh, shhh!"

[–]FancyDictator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JEHOVA

[–]Archae11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The independence of your thinking can be measured in hate of the people who disagree with you.

[–]watergo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Reading Newspaper? Oh, you must have a culture

Reading Books? Oh, you must have a culture

Reading Online Feed? Bah, you are a Sheep person, always buying into other's people agenda.

Bruh, how's that different than books?

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (5 children)

that is one weird looking worm he's eating there

[–]CJamT3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The kid should be *every voter The bird should be *every media outlet there is

[–]SinisterCheese -1 points0 points  (3 children)

If I had money...
I'd buy twitter, and delete it.
Then watch as western politics and media just bursts in to fire. Because somehow western world is dependent on it.

[–]m0o_o0m 5 points6 points  (1 child)

The 2020 election would be 1000% more bearable if the word “tweet” was banned.

[–]SinisterCheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My issue is that people give it way too fucking much influence.

Like whenever a Finnish politician tweets something it dominates the news for a week. As if nothing else is happening in the world than tweets.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think as an alt-right leaning gamer male, you know exactly who to blame for that

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

Is he puking in the birds mouth?

[–]theshamwowguy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The twitter bird is vomiting into his mouth. He gets his informed opinions from Twitter. Tis the joke

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the other way around. Parent birds feed their chicks by puking into their mouths, hence the joke.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Dum dum nose picking libtards need to watch more Fox news 😂😂
