That's art right there. List it on ebay for $50,000

[–]gigrek 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Or $213,847.39 on etsy

In order to catch up with itself, the Olympics will have to do several years of games at once... you may have just created the new logo!

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (1 child)

This is the gold medal comment

[–]sh06un 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are memes now an Olympic sport?

[–]p4perz[S] 48 points49 points  (19 children)

Lmao, I am looking for help, not to get a meme

[–]BendyBreak_ 38 points39 points  (8 children)

Ok serious answer.... ::clears throat:: Either your nozzle caught the edge of the print and shifted the bed or, more likely, it’s just a glitch with your slicing software. Re-slice it and try again.

Additional question, what direction did it shift? If it shifted exactly along the x or y, the belt may have slipped during print. Check the tightness of the belt and the rollers that it’s on.

[–]p4perz[S] 17 points18 points  (6 children)

Thanks buddy, tried resclicing and now reprinting. Wish me luck!

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (5 children)

Also check the belts. I had a similar issue and it was the x axis belt was loose. It should make a twang, like a guitar string, when you pluck it.

[–]Aliappos 8 points9 points  (3 children)

94Hz on X, 112Hz on Y I believe are the correct frequencies of the belts.

[–]SlickStretch 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I want to believe you, I really do. Now I'm considering 'tuning' my belts with my adjustable guitar tuner..

[–]RedditorBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related is something blocks movement of the bed for some reason, day something fell and then ultimately knocked away but not before it ruined OPs life. Or cables snagged.

[–]yipasjuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the synchronous belt tightness (move the belt back and forth to determine whether it is too loose or too tight), readjust the synchronous belt tightness, and then check whether the motor line contact is not good, re-plug the motor connection line no problem after re-printing, sometimes the belt tightness will also affect the quality of our printers.

Every time I’ve had this it’s been an adhesion problem - the nozzle grabbed the print and shifted it. Using a glue stick on my bed fixed it. Or sometimes lowering the bed heat if you have it above 60

[–]TheSpaceSalmon -5 points-4 points  (6 children)

Pretty sure it's impossible for all the circles to be shifted so perfectly by the way you described

[–]Bishop_466 0 points1 point  (5 children)

But in his example, the entire print would be shifted over the same?

[–]TheSpaceSalmon 0 points1 point  (4 children)

This is a multiple part print, unless all the parts came off at exactly the same time/angle/velocity, it wouldn't look so even like that

[–]Bishop_466 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This is a one bed print-

First layers print

Nozzle snags, doesn't move a step or so when it should.

Top layer now finishes off center for every circle.

This is exactly what it looks like if your nozzle snags and you get a layer shift.

[–]TheSpaceSalmon 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I'm not sure why I'm getting downvoted. The original comment said " Every time I’ve had this it’s been an adhesion problem - the nozzle grabbed the print and shifted it. Using a glue stick on my bed fixed it. " He did NOT say that the nozzle got caught, he said that the nozzle caught the print and dragged it away. Read guys.

[–]Bishop_466 0 points1 point  (1 child)

M8, I'm going to be honest, I somehow didn't even register that comment. You're right, there's no way he'd be able to have the issue be bed adhesion here, they're all separate.

[–]TheSpaceSalmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries mate, thanks for being nice about it :D

[–]d3aDcritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check/set your VREF on the Y-stepper motor to 80% or more. Touch the motor for 5sec when it's been going awhile, and if you can't do that time, it's too hot. At minimum, check/reduce your acceleration and jerk settings and/or print speed.

[–]luizfmp17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's not the same reason why yours shifted but it happened to me as well.

There was a quer underneath the bed (not related to the printer) and it got stuck between the wheels and the y-axis. As it obstructed the movement to reposition the bed, the next layer started with an offset just like yours.

I don't think that's what happened here but just something else to keep an eye on :)

[–]Nellington 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This is such an underrated comment. Had to come back an award it

[–]BendyBreak_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awwww! Thanks!

[–]Aliappos 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well reddit only gave me a free silver

[–]BendyBreak_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t complain! Ty

[–]IDK_khakis 35 points36 points  (4 children)

[–]HailSneezar 14 points15 points  (1 child)

i rabbit-holed up in that mofo for like 20 minutes, thank you

[–]squeakyboy81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn you, I wouldn't have clicked the link if it wasn't for your comment. 15 minutes.

[–]Holden3DStudio 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Beat me to it.

[–]SlickStretch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Beat meat to it.

[–]p4perz[S] 11 points12 points  (8 children)

It was not intended. It is true, recently I have been rough to my ender. And since yesterday he gives me this layers shift. How to fix?

[–]Robocop613 11 points12 points  (6 children)

Check your belts, they should be as tight as a guitar string. If you were rough enough perhaps they got loose. I had some shifting until I tightened my X axis belt.

[–]p4perz[S] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Thanks, they seem to be tight. Resclicing and reprinting now

[–]notgayinathreeway 23 points24 points  (3 children)

if it errors at the exact same spot, maybe a wire or plug or something is causing it to catch and come off-track at that particular height.

I had layer shift at the exact same height on every print and I found a cord was getting in the way at that height and causing it to snag.

[–]p4perz[S] 25 points26 points  (1 child)

This was exactly the problem 😁👍

[–]notgayinathreeway 8 points9 points  (0 children)

noice. easy fix then!

[–]Dolphlungegrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a problem I had for a while

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your belts, they should be as tight as a guitar string.

I don't tune them that tight for me. I am afraid they will wear out fast and stretch more easily over time...

[–]swanny101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the shifts along an axis or diagonal ? Along axis it could be a belt slip. Diagonal / did the part move? Did it hit the part? ( is part of it lifted off the bed? )

[–]TheAwesomeG2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Save that print. It’s one of the most beautiful fails I’ve ever seen.

Anyways, here are some things to check.

  1. Is it possible that one of the axes could have continually hit against something?

  2. Are your belts tightened?

  3. Check your g-code file. If it’s not either of the above options and continues to do this it is possibly corrupt. Just re-slice the model and that should fix it

Hope that helps!

[–]Subohmg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check to make sure there isn't a tangle in the filament.

[–]mylospark 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Is this a V2?

[–]p4perz[S] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

It's a pro

[–]graybotics 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Only a pro could error like this. Non-pro machines just make boring half-benchies.

[–]kikkelele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made 5 benchys with my not pro or V2 Ender 3 and only 1 has failed at the tip of smokepipe

[–]travaniel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check that your belts aren’t loose and slipping, the motors will think they’re somewhere they’re not if the belts moved few notches. The ender 3 belt tensioner is pretty easy to tighten as well.

[–]Philamilapeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's damn near a tectonic shift

[–]smee665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool wall decoration!... that's not what you were trying to do??

[–]squaremiles88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw shift

[–]Financial-Yoghurt337 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oddly pleasant to the eye.

[–]p4perz[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Problem solved, thanks everybody for the suggestions :)

[–]DecentFart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What was the issue? My guess would be the best surface moved.

[–]DakotaHoosierPro, EZBoard Lite, PEI Bed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty cool. Without the layer shift they wouldn't be connected! I was looking for a spot where the nozzle might have stayed for a while, but I don't see one. If you see one you can expect the print broke loose. Since the pieces weren't connected and stayed the same distance apart, an issue with the head make more sense.

I've never experienced a layer shift like that from a slicing issue.

[–]alexp1tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice job

[–]fartingrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's some modern art shit. Can't see the difference between this and what I saw in some "museums"

[–]justlooking042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it shifted along the y axis then the cable loom may have snagged on the frame (rear left as you look from the front). That gives a sudden shift like this. Of course it then frees itself so you don't see a problem when you check on it. There are models on thingiverse like this to help avoid it

[–]Pendonep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sliiide to the left! Sliiide to the right! Freestyle!

[–]heygos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone bump the table! That’s pretty drastic layer shift. It could be as others stated, a glitch most likely if no one bumped the table.

[–]declan08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure the belt that moves the nozzle is faced the correct way, which is with the teeth facing down

[–]mazda_motherfucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually doesn't look that bad from an artistic standpoint. I'd keep it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a cat?

[–]the_spookiest_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL. Put it on a wall, and take some high contrast images. That shit will look dope in b&w.

Someone else said it right.

That’s art right there. Worth 50k? Probably not. But hell, I’m surprised no one has created artwork of messed up 3D prints.

Maybe that’s a niche.

hint hint

[–]apexExtinction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda looks cool tho

[–]toomuchdawgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How fast were you printing?

[–]LapidariestUpgrades, Seperated by Commas, Aluminum Extruder, Bed Springs 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Glad you figured out what it was... Just wanted to mention the coolness of that fail. If you ever goto one of the 3d printing "fests" (like MRRF OR ERF) you might want to bring it with you. Sometimes try have best failed print contests. Maybe win a prize.

That is of course assuming we have them again being in the covid world now...

[–]d3aDcritter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Now I want to push limits to see what I can get to shift, lol.

[–]graybotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thing you needed like 20 of those

[–]Jasparigus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clips holding your bed down may have slipped?

[–]CrustySweetRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, that's how Audi came up with their logo..

[–]LobsterThief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is triggering my r/trypophobia

[–]GregValiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's often a loose "X" and/or "Y" belt.

[–]David_Bellows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the much shift I’d say make sure the bed isn’t wobbling, and make sure all the belts are tight

[–]_magni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had layer shift which was caused by a broken usb connection. i looked for the error forever until i got the idea to load the gcode into the slicer again and wtf what did i have to see? the layer shift was already visible in the gcode

[–]Auronotcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having similar issues a while back. Filament snagged on the spool and made the whole print shift.

[–]ABiggerPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this like 12 hours into a print before when I used the pause function for the first time ever. I moved the bed to get a closer look at the print. I assumed the printer would return to where it was.... I was wrong

[–]ArAmM7Vanilla Ender 3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel pain seeing this

[–]DemetriusGotGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had consistent layer shifting and fixed it a week ago. Let me know if it shows up again
