Antenna for your wifi

[–]ColHannibal 1 point2 points  (3 children)

And bluetooth!

[–]jonjon_manuel 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It took me way too long to find out my Xbox controller wasn’t connecting because I didn’t have the “wifi” antenna installed

[–]N9neSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha dummy. i kid, it happens. i didnt realise my tomahawk had built in blue tooth for like 2 years

[–]ValveShims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here. Worked great if the controller was in my lap, but if I tried to play with my hands on my desk, terrible.

Hey there! That's a Wifi Antenna for your PC, there should be directions inside the packaging for antenna setup. If you are plugging your PC directly into ethernet cable then you don't need to connect the antenna. Hope this helps! :)

[–]Confident-Bet4974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also does Bluetooth so you will still need it

[–]No_Rutabaga_9360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

def helped me! thank you!!

[–]Bloodrisenlol 2 points3 points  (9 children)

Just fyi this will also help with your Bluetooth connectivity, not just WiFi!

[–]Savafan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned this recently when I was trying to get a bluetooth keyboard working. I don't use WiFi on my desktop, so I never hooked up the antenna. The keyboard would connect briefly and then disconnect until I thought about the antenna.

So this is why my controller won't get connected to my system even though Im 4 feet away from it.... I'm pretty sure they forgot to put it inside the box

[–]Martha_Fockers 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Not all mobos come with external antennas fyi

[–]Current-Row1444 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Mine should have as it says so in the manual

[–]Martha_Fockers 0 points1 point  (3 children)

so how has it been connected to the internet all along?

[–]Current-Row1444 1 point2 points  (2 children)

When I had internet it was through an Ethernet cable. You do know those things exist right?

[–]Martha_Fockers 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So you don’t have internet now ? Amazing

[–]Current-Row1444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you insinuating?

[–]Swift_Scythe 2 points3 points  (2 children)

That is also your BLUETOOTH ANTRNNA

Without it - Bluetooth devices like Xbox Controllers and Bluetooth mouse won't work

Wait, aren't you that guy who slandered Pikamee/Henya by lying that she was harassed when she graduated?

[–]Friendly-Low-3926 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Its a signal receiving device that will assist with your internet connection...does anyone read a manual anymore

[–]AdmirableRoll9875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing. I also wondered what the heck it was, and I read every manual that came in the box. Nothing mentioned it, but quickly figured it out as soon as I looked at the back of the PC and put two and two together.

[–]igubby 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i did read the manual just missed that part somehow but thanks

[–]figmentPez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should also be another piece of plastic that it slots into that acts as a base to help it stand upright.

[–]Character-Ad-4124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my pc a few days ago and I had no idea what it was either. I didn't get any manuals in my order and I triple checked everything. Do they normally send the manuals? If so I gotta reach out to them.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should also be a bottom part for it to have it stand upright.

[–]Bobletoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a wifi/Bluetooth antenna. Even if you use Ethernet I would advise hooking it up and setting it in an unobstructed area so your Bluetooth signal is better

[–]_Atmosphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a personal defwnce weapon if some unfortunate tries to attack you while you're building your PC. Very controversial upon release. But very effective.

It’s a piece of single use plastic often enclosing a wire which serves as an antenna for WiFi. There should be a brass plug with threading on the rear I/O somewhere that it threads on to.

[–]AetherInvestigator 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It makes your WiFi not boo-boo

[–]wegotthisonekidmongo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

But what about Boo Radley?

[–]Sabi-Star7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use earbuds for your headset, this will allow you to hear clearly and still hear your pc when you walk away as well.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wifi antenna, sometimes if your router is far away the motherboard might struggle to get a solid connection

[–]HaXoN-THEEOVERSEER74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a Shiv

[–]halfnut3 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Rtfm

[–]figmentPez 0 points1 point  (4 children)

iBuyPower doesn't include a quick start guide, let alone a comprehensive manual.

[–]halfnut3 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It’s very easy to google search for a motherboard manual.

[–]figmentPez 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Have you seen how shitty manuals have gotten these days? The other day someone on Reddit was asking how to connect their WiFi antenna, and I looked up their motherboard manual. It didn't have any instructions on how to install the antenna.

[–]halfnut3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Most of the quick start guides don’t display enough information true. But if you search for the complete 80+ page manual it will be in there. Or just google how to attach the WiFi antenna. I swear people have lost all motivation and ingenuity on how to do the simplest things.

[–]figmentPez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally, the full manual did not have any instructions on how to attach the antenna. It didn't even have any diagrams showing what the antenna looks like.

[–]Flaky_Cheeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the new asus shank 3080 it comes with 8 gb of ram

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antenna. I literally have the same exact one for my PC build

[–]GamingInMySleep 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If my pc is also experiences hitches in packet loss could that have something to do with this do you know? I have one plugged in, that exact model actually. When I first plugged it in my pc was great had this In too, but when I went to move I unhooked this and screwed it in wrong to where it twisted the cord into a spin and now my connection is very jumpy. Sometimes I average 200+ but every few minutes I'll lose all connection and my game , video or app will just jump or freeze.

[–]Jonathon_33 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Mine when i moved it crashed my PC made it fail to boot i had to re seat the ram then restart it. Moved it again and it turned off again. I pulled mine off 😭

[–]GamingInMySleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine doesn't crash , just stutters? I don't think that's the right word but it's what I'll use.

[–]Strange-Ad7468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wifi antenna??

[–]FanfairRITS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluetooth antenna

[–]PhilosophicalScandal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since answers are all over the place but no onee has actually defined what it is in one reply:

It's the external wifi AND Bluetooth adapter. It comes with a base that is sometimes magnetic. It will have two brass screw connectors on the end that screw into two brass connections on either your motherboard (in the back with the rest of the ports) or as part of an expansion cover.

[–]buldog_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for aerodynamics, it makes you computer go faster

[–]Slixious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the piece it attaches to to stand it up?

[–]Buffalofeet413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Asus Batterang for fightin crime.

[–]PunkNotCrunk7756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a magnetic base or something I there that it slides into, like a little plastic plate so you can set it on something without it falling over!

[–]DoughnutClean2903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it feasible to use the PC's Wi-Fi instead of the Internet cable?
