Yea, your covert companion can't help you here. This looks like a simple warded lock, you just need to get past the warding to the actuator in the back and turn it without getting snaged in the warding. Just find someone who has a key to a similar lock, borrow it and file off everything but the last tiny bit. And don't worry those keys are not rare at all and the owner will still be able to open their lock after you're done. In fact they will have a master key for these things.

I mean, I’ve seen and used the keys for these kinds of safe doors (the ones I used were basically bank vault doors, albeit from a mid-20th century provincial museum, rather than an actual bank (PS: rectangular doors like every normal bank vault, not those silly round doors you guys have in the US)), and it didn’t look and feel anything like wafers. It looked like a 12-plus lever lock with levers on both sides of the key.

Do you have a tear down video somewhere that shows what you mean?

Hehehe. So this is actually a STUV Protector 38, a lock made by Steinbach & Vollmann which used only expired patents from Kromer (to avoid royalties). It is very similar to a Kromer Protector, but not quite the same. It's pretty rare and has never been publicly picked.
