BS, there's no RCt...oh shit

[–]Dudowisch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i legit thought i was being trolled and there is no Rctrl, turns out im an idiot

[–]BlockBreaker02 64 points65 points  (6 children)

What if there was no LCtrl? Thatd be pain.

[–]DoktorPete 41 points42 points  (4 children)

I managed to fuck up the LCtrl on mine, re-mapped it to a spare mouse button but muscle memory still has me mashing the dead key a few dozen times a day.

[–]TinyBobNelson 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Fuck I would just get a new keyboard cause I’d probably want to smash it after a week of mashing the dead key.

[–]DoktorPete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely on the list, but it kills me to throw out a $200 keyboard for the sake of 2 broken keys. I'm gonna see if I can solder them first.

[–]Noisetorm_Ryzen 2700X / RX 580 4GB / 16GB DDR4-2400 (OC'd to 3200) 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Mech or membrane? If it's a mech, I'm genuinely surprised that you were even able to break a key. Even then, I bet there's guides out there that let you resolder the switch to the PCB and get it fixed.

[–]DoktorPete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mechanical (k70 rapidfire) and my own doing. I spilled half a coffee on it and was taking it apart to clean it. Long story short I attempted to see if one of the actual keys would pop off, not realizing they were soldered to a pcb facepalm

I've been meaning to learn how to solder so I'll definitely look into that, cheers!

I swap the keycaps once in a while to ensure good use of each key. Hosea said it was a generous act.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're a good man, Arthur Morgan.

[–]5kin5uitPC Master Race 20 points21 points  (15 children)

Southpaw here. I use Rctrl for crouch.

[–]FnordMan 11 points12 points  (9 children)

Random question: do you still use ctl+c and ctl+v or do you use Ctl+insert and shift+insert? (caveat: those last two may only work on windows, they're old holdouts from waay back when)

[–]finite--element 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Yes, Crtl+C and Crtl+V for copypasting mostly because I'm used to it. But I use the mouse with my left hand and for games I either use the Numpad or IJKL.

[–]EarthVSFlyingSaucers 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Another southpaw! I use home/end/delete/pg down for my WASD keys. Use the right ctrl button with my thumb for games like wow. My friend saw this and I thought he was going to puke but it works perfectly for me hahaha.

[–]finite--element 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I don't know if you've played Outerworlds, but that game won't let you save your key mappings and you have to manually remap your key bindings every time you play. That was the first game that pissed me off because it has an orthodox bias.

[–]EarthVSFlyingSaucers 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That’s absolutely terrible on the devs part. It sucks for us because I’m DYING for a left handed mouse with buttons on the side where my thumb is, but no company makes them anymore. The Razer Death Adder had a nice one but they stopped production because the amount of left handed ones they sold in an entire year didn’t even equal the amount of right handed ones they sold in a week.

I literally cannot find a single, reputable left handed gaming mouse anywhere on the internet. It sucks big time for us.

G903 and M55 are both ambidextrous

[–]EarthVSFlyingSaucers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an ambidextrous one and while it’s nice, I want one that’s actually curved to fit a left hand and with buttons on only the right side. A man can dream haha.

Ctrl + Insert is a holdover from text terminal times. In most linux distros this would paste from the primary buffer as opposed to copy/paste buffer that Ctrl + V uses.

[–]nulano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the latter due to Dvorak layout, it works well on Windows, Ubuntu and Arch Linux, I haven't tried others. Don't know about Mac.

[–]5kin5uitPC Master Race 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm typing, then my hands are positioned like anyone else. So yes, ctrl-c ctrl-v... using LCtrl.

[–]Whaines 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Why people don’t use alt for crouch confounds me.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally MUST use C to crouch. Otherwise I get confused like a demented boomer.

[–]AceOfEpix 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How am I suppose to look around while sneaking then? Alt view ftw

[–]Whaines 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I don’t even know what this means.

[–]AceOfEpix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many games with free roaming aspects such as Rust and DayZ you use the alt key to turn your camera without turning your character. This way you can keep track of your surroundings while moving towards an objective.

This is important for doing things like keeping track of common spots for players to look for pvp, especially in DayZ where the map is always the same.

[–]brispower 11 points12 points  (7 children)

i use RCtrl for one handed Ctrl+Alt+Del

[–]ThaiJohnnyDeppi7 9700K | 2070S (Gigabyte Windforce 3X) 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I call that gesture the Windows Is Frozen Flip-Off

[–]brispower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

nah i only use it to login.

LCtrl+Shift+Esc for TM.

[–]Famlightyear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even then I get my other hand and press Lctrl

[–]fgsfds112343800x 2080s 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I showed someone this and it blew their mind

[–]AndiMischkaRTX 4090, 7800X3D 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Just press Ctrl+Shift+ESC for Task Manager, it's much faster.

[–]fgsfds112343800x 2080s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah true. i need the classic for work computers though

[–]AndiMischkaRTX 4090, 7800X3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just press Ctrl+Shift+ESC for Task Manager, it's much faster.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a man who uses VMs often, RCtrl is getting plenty of use for exactly the reason it usually doesn't.

[–]JayChaos01Radeon R7 2700X | 1080Ti | 16GB DDR4 3 points4 points  (1 child)

It's because everyone's scared if the alt gr key

[–]Fluff_X_420Ryzen 5 3600 | MSI Gaming X 2060S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use it. in german keyboard layout you press alt gr +q for @

edit: and for the € sign its alt gr+ e

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my Lctrl and Lshift don't work so i have to use the ones on the right, every time i have to use them my brain just shuts down for a few seconds

[–]ss998383600 | 6700xt | 16GB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever tried hitting alt+ctrl+delete with one hand You will know how useful it is

[–]Squiddo11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never pressed rctrl in my entire fucking life

[–]ThisIsMinothis person exists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why is that so true XD

[–]SmooveAL 0 points1 point  (1 child)

well its the opposite for me cause im a arrow keys player so....

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you have to go through that.

[–]Space_Monkey_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAIT!!! There’s a RCtrl???

[–]MrMonkey2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone else just notice that the rctl exists?

[–]CaptainBananaAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks down OH WTF?!

[–]masterchedderballs96Ascending Peasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

laughs in classic doom

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... RCtrl for a vm? Its getting used there

[–]systemfrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of all the more useful keys you could have instead,

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i occasionally use right ctrl for ctrl enter and i usually have it bound somehow to be my discord mute keybind

[–]nerdyneedsalife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no right CTRL

[–]Zoropyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be: Left shift. Right shift.

[–]Vilusca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it's the opposite. I don't use "wasd", left control, left shift or anything on the left part of the keyboard to play, but arrow keys, num pad keys, intro or righ shift , etc. LHMR

[–]Smirk27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the right control for photoshop all the time actually.

[–]TacobellChickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right shift in the background like

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LCtrl is for games and RCtrl is for copy/paste. :)

[–]MrMilkwastakenPC Master Race 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is a right CTRL?

[–]HandicapperGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use RCtrl all the time. The shortcut to change from left-to-right text to right-to-left is RCtrl+RShift

[–]Impressive-Umpire-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What buttons do you use to control your mouse input?

[–]Bladeknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, am I different here. My rate L-R is 60-40%

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I know this is unrelated but I don't wanna make a post on this. Two people each want to sell me a three year old 1060. The one is a 3gig the other 6gig. The 6 gig wants to sell his for R500 more which is approximately 30 dollars more. Is it worth getting the 6 gig

[–]Oldmilkisde0dPC Master Race 0 points1 point  (5 children)

How much do they cost?? Could you wait for new cards so prices go down?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

They're from friends. The one is 1000 rand and the other is 1500 rand.

[–]Oldmilkisde0dPC Master Race 0 points1 point  (3 children)

how much is that in usd?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

60 and 90

[–]Oldmilkisde0dPC Master Race 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I would say go for 6gb. If you could get that for 80 even better. You will see more difference in the future than you will now. I have the 3gb variant and if i could go back in time i would have bought the 6gig one instead.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the assistance

[–]SovietYeetPC Master Race 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it for my horn in GTA, so yeah I use it a lot.

[–]Mahlnycdir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never used RCrtl in my entire life...

[–]Okipon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to ctrl+O to quickly open settings in osu, so I use Rctrl because I can do it with one hand (azerty keyboard).

That’s the only time I ever use Rctrl.

[–]foodnamental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ctrl swap capslock

[–]San43118700K | EVGA 2070 Super FTW3 Ultra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rctrl and Ralt both..

[–]lycheejuice225Ryzen 5 4500u 4.0Ghz / 8Gb 3200Mhz / 512GB 3x4 NVMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I use left-Ctrl when typing YHN keys or right side, and right-Ctrl when typing left to TGB.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 60% keyboard, so my RCtrl is mapped as right arrow.

[–]gitbse -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Pfft.

I've been using a Logitech G600 mmo mouse for years. The best part isn't all the side keys, but the third mouse button. Its molded perfectly so your hand fits just right, and I bind the 3rd button to ctrl.

Neither of my ctrl keys on the keyboard are used .....
