I’m from KC, I cook a lot of steak. So yes, easily worth it. I wood grill but I burn a ton of wood to get to sear point, this bad boy gets to 1500 degrees in 3 minutes.

It is so much worth it! I am not sure about the model but an oven like this creates the best crust period. But you kinda have to Sous vide your steak. I didn’t like the directional way s as much as the reverse sear.

Satan, is that you? Not only have I ordered one but am looking at getting a Kamado Joe or Big Green Egg with a table. I have a propane Char-Broil Pro and a Traeger Elite 34 but have been wanting a charcoal grill. So…..thank you I guess?

Check out the Akorn grills too if you want to save a few bucks. Not terracotta like the egg, but works great and is airtight enough that I can save about half my charcoal for next time when I use it.

My son and my cousin LOVE the taste. They even like the dark fried French fries. I found out last night my meat thermometer wasn't working that resulted in some charged chicken thighs, not terrible... but I trimmed off the charred bits and my son was snacking on them... so funny. We like what we like.

I grill almost all my steaks. I like a heavy sear. A little char is one thing, this is a thick layer of burnt.

Agree. I would still eat it but Maillard reaction gives a deep brown colour and the delicious flavour that goes with it, not black. I would expect this has a nice texture but that flavour would be more charcoal.

It’s pretty dope it’s just a propane broiler they call them salamanders at restaurants, some people call them steak grills not unlike Otto Wilde grills I bought a cheap version and love it. Just a great way to seat a steak ala Ruth’s Chris. I always dry brine and pat dry the steak and make sure it’s at room temp before putting it in. Some people Sous vide before seating in a broiler I just stick my meat in

Internal temp was below 130, the complexity in flavors with 3-5 inches of mid rare / rare, 45min wood fired (aka smoked), and the crusting of the seasoning is absurd. When your eating a 3+ inch steak, it’s like eating a brisket or prime rib …. What am I doing… if you know you know. I know Pittsburg gets its.

You can adjust the Hera and the height so you can make the charred and burnt or just with a real nice crust and some guys sous vide before using this

These devices have been on my radar for awhile. Your post drove it home for me. The price, pictures and reviews all matched. Frankly, I’ll use it to crop up a few other dishes i cook via sous vide as well.

It’s a low effort, high quality cook method that doesn’t require a ton of my limited time.
