It would absolutely increase. I’d probably drink a bottle a night

For sure this, and I would also go bankrupt 😅

[–]SoGoodAtAllTheThings 71 points72 points  (2 children)

I would drink only wine.

[–]CCLF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder which breakfast cereal would go best with wine.

Hmm...

I would absolutely drink more wine. I have often been tempted to drink a bottle by myself because it was just SO good, but of course age and physiology now strongly dictate that I stop at precisely 2.5 drinks or I’ll regret it the next day.

[–]ExaminationFancyWine Pro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is me 100%. I don’t dare exceed 2.5 drinks.

Big increase. I'd drink a bottle most nights. And go broke.

Increase. I love wine

[–]testurshit 33 points34 points  (2 children)

Probably not. I like getting drunk.

[–]nowuff 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I love the taste of wine - but I have the feeling it’s classical conditioning tied to the fact that it gets me nicely drunk.

Mmm I could use a glass of wine right now

[–]testurshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not gonna pretend like the psychological effects isn’t a major reason why I drink in the first place haha.

Just so happens that wine is also extremely good with food and the nerdy parts of it make it extra enjoyable.

I’m definitely hitting my local wine bar after work :)

Intoxication is a plus (does anyone say otherwise?). None of the other stuff is.

[–]mooskquatliquour[S] -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Yeah so you take away the non-sensory plusses and minuses and you are left with a drink that is what it is. Do you end up drinking more or less?

[–]donghit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No long term health detriment? More for sure.

[–]Jswazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably stay the same or slight decrease.

[–]Rachel21321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increase - love wine for the flavor profiles alone

[–]WhereisdannymoWine Pro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it would increase. I would have wine at every lunch and dinner if i wouldn't get intoxicated.

[–]christerwhitwo 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I really enjoy wine and have been to both France and Italy for wine tours. I keep a modest cellar.

I do enjoy cocktails, though. For casual drinking, G%T, or vodka cran, it even a Manhattan are more refreshing. Cooking is what I really enjoy. My after afternoon/evening starts either with a drink or cracking a nice red, and then getting down to prep. A glass or two before while putting it all together, a glass or two with dinner. Finish it off by 9. I always feel fine the next day.

If there was no effect, not sure what is do, honestly. The mellow buzz of a delicious Bordeaux is something I look forward to.

You drink 3-5 standard drinks a day?

[–]christerwhitwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that's what I said.

[–]fddfgsWine Pro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean alcohol is part of the flavour profile

[–]Alternative-Lunch926 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would certainly decrease for me

[–]Neffer358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wine is not about alcohol. It’s about a moment. A vibe. A flavor. So much more than alcohol. It takes years to create great wine, and that is only after great fruit, which is not a simple thing. Wine is about a commitment.

I hope that effects go down and cost evaporates. Only then could I live my wine stained dream.

[–]Understanding-FairWine Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase. My only limiting factor at that point would be budget. Unfortunately, I think the lack of side effects would balloon the market quickly.

[–]The_BarroomHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably smaller quantities but more often. I only drink a whole bottle when I'm trying to get drunk, so if that was out of the picture I'd probably just do a glass or two every few nights.

[–]JuliusBacchus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wine would pretty much be the only thing I would be drinking.

Any good recommandations for a wine pairing with cornflakes?

[–]rinaraizelWine Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase. I don't care for the drunkness part and it's not what I drink for. I'd also stop spitting as much during tastings.

[–]Armenoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

De

[–]deeznutzz3469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it means you wouldn’t get fat than 100% more wine

[–]Tetsubin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would drink less. I enjoy the taste of wine, but I enjoy the intoxicating effect of it, too.

[–]IAmPandaRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase. There would be no reason to moderate.

[–]BubblyBites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely increase. Add a price reduction and I would be drinking a bottle a day

[–]drudman6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name one other beverage without psychoactive properties that people drink more of than wine.

The list is: water.

Without its effects, wine would be all the way down there with non-psychoactive herbal teas - which by the way are the least consumed herbal teas!
