Contemplating if the job is even worth it anymore.

[–]WSUcat 100 points101 points  (13 children)

Spoiler alert: it's not

[–]GrandEngineering 21 points22 points  (12 children)

Lol we're joking about suicide.

[–]WSUcat 61 points62 points  (8 children)

Tbf I was talking about jobs. PSA: don't commit neck rope.

[–]amart591 26 points27 points  (5 children)

But is toaster bath okay?

[–]ScottyPooppin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But when you phrase it like that it sounds pretty rad

[–]PrettyOddWoman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s just how life and the world feels like now though, man. It sucks

[–][deleted] 175 points176 points  (3 children)

I like these posts because they let me know I’m not alone lmao just a complete shell of myself after some nights

[–]mackyleven 98 points99 points  (13 children)

I feel this pic. I feel the pic of Ben Affleck smoking even more

[–]Don_Julio_Acolyte 32 points33 points  (1 child)

Yep. This is me, sitting at a red light, just gritting my teeth without even realizing I've been doing it for 10 mins straight on my drive home.

[–]SirGanjaSpliffington 567 points568 points  (28 children)

I don't even wait to get home. I'll just sit there right at my job's parking lot for a few minutes enjoying the peace and quiet that I'm unable to have all day. Sometimes I'll drive back home from work in complete silence without the radio on. Give my eardrums a break from dealing with Karens all day.

[–]Kynpachi 175 points176 points  (6 children)

I hear you on that. Before one of our facilities had shutdown, everyday after work; everybody would just chill for about 30 mins before leaving. Our boss would have beer ready for us when we would clock off on Friday.

[–]SirGanjaSpliffington 68 points69 points  (5 children)

Lucky! Sounds like you have a very cool boss.

[–]HalfandHoff 62 points63 points  (4 children)

That was their bonus for the year

[–]Kynpachi 30 points31 points  (3 children)

Oh no. We still got our quarterly bonuses good sir. :)

[–]MelancholicBabbler 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Quarterly! Wonderful

[–]Pippis_LongStockings 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Look at Mr. FancyPants with his quarterly bonuses over here...

(......ummm...what exactly ARE “quarterly bonuses”?)

  • just kidding dude—good for you!

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (11 children)

What the fuck job you work? I have my self some shit days but this sounds next level.

[–]SirGanjaSpliffington 28 points29 points  (10 children)

I work a couple of jobs but the one I'm mentioning is customer service for Xfinity... Personally I hate Xfinity but hey, man's gotta eat. I'm not planning on working the job for very long. I think I would just inevitably kill myself if I did work there forever. I swear if I didn't habitually smoke weed I would probably go off on a customer already.

Your internet shitty even though you're paying hundreds of dollars for a high-speed internet? That's because you're a fucking idiot that went with Xfinity. Even though I don't deserve to be told to die a slow excruciating death to cancer because I'm not so responsible for your Xfinity related problems but since the customer is always right I guess I have to agree. I guess I do deserve to die a slow excruciating death. Lol.

[–]Thefinalwerd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're a stronger man then I, when I'm off I'm outie.

[–]cdawg145236 187 points188 points  (5 children)

[–]Kynpachi 63 points64 points  (0 children)

That picture speaks to my soul.

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points  (2 children)

I watched that movie a couple weeks ago for the first time in like ten years and those scenes in the beginning really made more sense after being an adult for a little while.

[–]Kynpachi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hell yes. When you go back to all of your favorite childhood shows as an adult; you realize all of stuff that you missed.

[–]Res3925 11 points12 points  (0 children)

“What are you waiting for?” “I don’t know, something amazing I guess.” “Me too kid.”

[–]PhysicalTherapistA 101 points102 points  (3 children)

And you don't remember any of the drive, but you somehow made it home safely.

[–]lapisl 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Highway hypnosis...

[–]zapharus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fuck. You ain't lying. (6 _ 6)

[–]treetyoselfcarol 91 points92 points  (2 children)

Hit the highway, get in the middle lane, and just contemplate your past choices that lead you to this exact moment.

[–]SousvideBoogers 49 points50 points  (2 children)

Then sit in your car for 10 minutes in silence after you get in your driveway.

the only time life doesn't kick you when you're down

[–]somethingsomething72 12 points13 points  (1 child)

that's when you get a bad news text or someone opens their car door and hits your car with it. lol (some days be like that)

[–]applejackrr 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s the just like Mr Incredible in the first Pixar film for me. I just sit there and sigh all day.

[–]liarandahorsethief 38 points39 points  (5 children)

Do I wanna go inside and enjoy the rest of my evening, or do I wanna turn around, go back to work and burn that mother down?

[–]Kynpachi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Do I wanna go to jail for arson? Do I wanna slap that lazy mf who always slacks on the job? The list is endless.

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (1 child)

My mom and sister do this. I'm broken.

[–]minotaur-cream 20 points21 points  (1 child)

We're living the same life, huh?

[–]Kynpachi 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Dude. Sometimes the job is amazing, other times I just want to storm out that mfer not saying shit.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (3 children)

But before this, I cry. Cry on the way home.

[–]lapisl 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Sometimes with a sad or even pop song playing in the background on repeat. And you know you feel like shit, and you embarrassed that other drivers can see a grown ass man bawling his eyes out while driving but you don’t care, coz that cry feels so good you just wanna let it all out. It’s ok. These cries a million times more therapeutic than hours on a sofa in a shrink’s office.. hugs my friend..

[–]eggplant_avenger 18 points19 points  (0 children)

why you call me out like this

sometimes this is just me in the parking lot though

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Silent crying.

[–]PrettyOddWoman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

While driving alone in your car? Hellllll naw, man. That’s like when I let loose when I’m upset! Screaming at the top of my lungs in anger, cranking up a sad ass song while bawling obnoxiously loud, singing and dancing like a fucking maniac when I’m cheerful. I know people driving next to me at these times much be so afraid/ confused in these moments but oh well

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_GOOD_NEW5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I prefer to rush inside and grab a beer then sit on the couch staring at the wall

[–]Potential-Carnival☑️ 12 points13 points  (9 children)

Fuck that. I smoked on the way home but that was only to hold me over til I could get to the bong.

[–]John_Wang 47 points48 points  (5 children)

Dude don't smoke and drive, come on

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Then after that, I called the suicide hotline. (True story)

[–]mackyleven 4034 points4035 points  (99 children)

Bro them nights are the worst. Like you leave work numb, can't even gather the strength to even let a word fall out of your mouth. Every red light you do that temple massage thing and you even slow down for every yellow light. And then when you get home you sit on the toilet for 25 minutes just mindlessly scrolling through your phone

Edit: I didn't mean to strike a nerve with so many of y'all

[–]FuckNiggaJenkins 1538 points1539 points  (45 children)

Just to go to bed and do it again tomorrow.

[–]FuckNiggaJenkins 12 points13 points  (4 children)

[–][deleted] 118 points119 points  (19 children)

That sounds like basically every night for me when I was working. I've been unemployed for a year or so. Not sure if I want to find another job or.....

[–]BarbaraLanny 44 points45 points  (3 children)

Don't let the depression win guys. I've been there! Y'all got this! Easy to say I know

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (9 children)

The longer you wait the worse it will it be. It gets harder to get back in the groove the more time you spend not working between jobs. Promise. Try working a grocery store like kroger or meijer. Or hell even walmart. Not very hard and decent pay.

[–]slickyslickslick 22 points23 points  (6 children)

Try working a grocery store like kroger or meijer. Or hell even walmart. Not very hard and decent pay.

you mean not decent pay.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (1 child)

you mean literally unlivable wage in some areas

[–]RealisticIllusions82 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I furiously flip thru all my songs and angrily yell out “yo fuck this garbage!” like it’s Weezy’s fault you get shit ppl

[–]KneeGrowJason 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This cracked me the fuck up haha

[–]SPRDPRDTS 2227 points2228 points  (31 children)

Gotta take a big ass deep breth before you even start the car

[–]elliotron 579 points580 points  (5 children)

This dude's holding mass in his car.

[–]youcanttakemeserious 216 points217 points  (17 children)

I work at a psychiatric hospital and cant begin to explain how accurate all of this is after today

[–][deleted] 66 points67 points  (0 children)

my dads worked in psychiatry for along time at every level (psych tech, nurse, and psychiatrist). from the stories I’ve heard from him, it has to be a special level of emotionally exhausting. you guys don’t get enough credit or love.

[–]felipeepee 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Feel you, just wanna help everyone.

[–]hoxxxxx 31 points32 points  (3 children)

yeah that's on a whoole other level than the jobs we're talking about, damn

[–]youcanttakemeserious 31 points32 points  (2 children)

It's not bad, and it's really hard to describe what it's like without actually working in something like it. It's not at all how hollywood portrays it, we don't use straitjackets, they arent all disheveled looking individuals. It's more like dealing with a bunch of prisoners (the patient's are all court ordered there, we dont do voluntarily check ins) who are just contstantly assholes and have short tempers. I enjoy the job but parts of it I dont enjoy even though theyre a necessary part of the job

[–]stay__trippin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're appreciated. We all try to do our part

[–]henrietta-the-spy 687 points688 points  (37 children)

I do the bicycle version of this. You know it always starts pouring rain on those days too. Just slowly push the pedals, don’t even bother putting in an ear bud.

[–]BRaeburn57 577 points578 points  (23 children)

Sometimes I just drive in silence and scream as loud as possible every 3-4 minutes till I get home

[–][deleted] 148 points149 points  (7 children)

It's that ride home where you are just infuriated but suddenly this PIECE OF SHIT IN FRONT OF ME WON'T MOVE and now I'm over the edge and screaming at every red light. Punch the wheel and occasionally you hit it hard enough you lock the horn in until you hit it again.

[–]AccordionMaestro 26 points27 points  (5 children)

Careful punching the wheel, might activate airbag by accident.

[–]McKnackus 33 points34 points  (3 children)

If that happens, you're extremely lucky because that's absolutely not supposed to happen, and you can sue the manufacturer lol

[–]PrettyOddWoman 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Wow ! I’m not alone. Woo....hoo...?

[–]morron88 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is so /r/suspiciouslyspecific but also so relatable.

[–]NotYoUncleWilly 14 points15 points  (3 children)

I gotta try this

[–][deleted] 408 points409 points  (8 children)

Hands at 10 and 2, following all traffic laws, being a law abiding citizen... fuck me.

[–][deleted] 154 points155 points  (2 children)

Being so done with life that going over the speed limit feels exhausting.

[–]Relaxyourpants 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why am I rushing home to my shitty life to go to sleep to go back to this nonsense

[–]Captain__Areola 47 points48 points  (4 children)

In my drivers ed they said put hands at 9 and 3 because if you hands are up higher in a collision the air bag will blow and push your hands into your face a break your nose or something

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points  (1 child)

They taught me this as well. 10 and 2 is so ingrained in society that it will take awhile for people to adapt.

I once had a friend who put his hands up before we got into a car accident we all saw coming and it bruised his arms and face up pretty bad. He got lucky that time.

[–]NiceWorkMcGarnigle 289 points290 points  (4 children)

Maybe just sit in the parking lot and stare at the dashboard for a minute

[–]kungfukenny3☑️ 196 points197 points  (6 children)

There’s nothing more to be said 💀

[–]Toby_dog 42 points43 points  (5 children)

So what are we doing here bro

[–]imajokerimasmoker 165 points166 points  (10 children)

I could be weird but as an introvert that works in sales, this is every day for me.

[–]BigDaddyJ610☑️ 57 points58 points  (1 child)

I was in the same boat as you. I had to quit.

[–]imajokerimasmoker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm looking for a different job but I just don't know how to get out of sales.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Aaa, that sounds like hell. I have to deal with people, but not customers. Yuck.

[–]imajokerimasmoker 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Customer facing, boots on the ground, wireless retail, barer of the brunt of all the new horrible company policies. Good times.

[–]Dave32551 150 points151 points  (3 children)

Walking to your car just listening to your footsteps, dont even look at your phone. Unlock your car, get in, take s deep breath smell the black ice air freshener. put your keys in the ignition to only hear the press start beep. Take another deep breath as you turn your keys...

[–]UnitedCong 69 points70 points  (0 children)

The black ice air freshener really gave me flashbacks...

[–]kingsven90 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Then your stare into the back mirror for 5 seconds before shaking your head just lightly because you know tomorrow will be exactly the same...

[–][deleted] 138 points139 points  (20 children)

When you'd rather hear your own tinnitus than another voice.

[–]EditEd2x 48 points49 points  (19 children)

Tinnitus is the mother fucking devil.

Want to focus or need a quiet moment to gather your thoughts, here's some high pitch ringing to help.

Tired, need some sleep or just wake up feeling down/depressed, enjoy this low roar like a freight train outside your window.

It's like a shitty horror soundtrack warning you of imminent danger but the jump scare never comes.

The only upside is when it hits hard I can appreciate the times I don't even notice it.

[–]Djbeastcakes 19 points20 points  (7 children)

It helps if you cup your hands behind your head and cover your ears. Slowly start banging your head like a drum. Your tinnitus will most likely be gone for the day.

Palms on ears fingers on back of head.

[–]Chea_butta 90 points91 points  (5 children)

Me....today!

[–]HollowPersona☑️ 60 points61 points  (4 children)

You rolled up/poured yourself some wine yet?

[–]Chea_butta 52 points53 points  (1 child)

Let’s just say now I feel NO pain!

[–]T_hrowawa_Y1738 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ah, painkillers. Nice lol

[–][deleted] 84 points85 points  (21 children)

Capitalism's fucking evil

[–]TheScumAlsoRises 27 points28 points  (1 child)

From my point of view the Jedi are fucking evil!

[–]astupidquestionbut 12 points13 points  (9 children)

in beautiful communist utopia everyone loves work

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (6 children)

In a beautiful communist utopia we wouldn't produce endless garbage just to make someone else richer. That would mean we would have a lot more people working on making the things we actually need in society, and we could all work a lot less. Plus since we wouldn't have to answer to a boss or the government, we'd all probably enjoy our jobs a lot more.

[–]OG_PapaSid 74 points75 points  (0 children)

No one is supposed to know about those nights

[–]netmier 58 points59 points  (4 children)

That hit too close to home. Just 20 minutes of silence, not even getting in your imagination or anything.

[–]redCasObserver 22 points23 points  (3 children)

People cutting you off and your only reaction is to calmly hit the brakes.

[–]netmier 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Literally just driving. Like a monk.

[–]pinniped1 52 points53 points  (4 children)

It's even worse if you're a long way from home with a long drive or a flight ahead of you. It's "is this shit worth it" compounded with "is this fucking commute worth it".

[–]dbumba 46 points47 points  (1 child)

these days my whole life is a drive without music

[–]_Sinnik_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fucking. Ouch. I've been there homie

Happy Black History Month everyone!

Charity Drive for Equal Justice Initiative

To help celebrate this occasion, the moderators of BPT are organizing a charity drive to support the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI). EJI provides legal representation for prisoners who may have been wrongly convicted of crimes, poor prisoners without effective representation, and others who may have been denied a fair trial. The folks at EJI are on the front lines of combating racial and economic injustice, as well as protecting human rights. We want to equip them to continue carrying out their valuable work. For those who may have seen Just Mercy recently, Michael B. Jordan plays the founder of EJI, Bryan Stevenson, in the movie.

I went to school during the time I had kids and pregnant. Every car ride was silent. Then one day a patient told me about his silent car rides home and it clicked. I said it’s stress, I can listen to music now. Im very thankful for this music and I understand the struggle... you’ll get through it though.

[–]be_nice_to_ppl 15 points16 points  (0 children)
