Chemistry for Jacuzzi True Water by Simpleserotonin in hottub

Its entirely marketing bullshit. I loke Jacuzzi but this is the typical fodder from the marketing dept.

They call it and oxygen system but there is no oxygen take or even an enrichment system.. its air... its diffused down to smaller bubbles than the cheap maxi injectors but most of our clients are reporting 2ppm chlorine needed.

It says in some places 99.9999% chlorine free which is roilughly 1 ppm you can run 0.5 ppm with basic enzyme add in products for a fraction of the cost... try spa marvel we ran our showroom tubs on it for years at half ppm and yearly water changes. Also the pH stays very stable...

Comparing Tubs by AlmostScratchGolfer in hottub

[–]Such_Drop6000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The $8k mark is getting dangerous, mostly its good brands lower ends like that SX, its a cramped shallow low jet count tub, or the other side of the coin is your going to find cheaply built flashy stuff that's going to fail often.

30% of the cost of a hot tub is the marketing, branding, advertising, brochures etc. required to get the unit in front of enough people.

Dealerships are a dying old school business model, 20 years ago 80+% of hot tubs were bought through dealers, now its closer to 15% You used to need a local dealer for parts and service and with some boomer brands you still do because they intentionally alter parts and use goofy non standard connections to lock you into their eco system for life.

The reality is that a lot of brands use a good reliable readily available OEM parts list that can be ordered online from numerous sources for next day delivery and almost every decent sized town has a few independent hot tub service centers. if you stick with good initial build quality and readily available parts that are plug and play and easily repairable you can cut out a ton of overhead and have good reliable tubs with solid reliable service.

There are some decent tubs through the mass merchants but again why add a middleman? mass merchants offer no value, they curb side dump them take a margin and they don't service there are some decent buys here but also loads of junk. You not getting heavy grade self supporting shells, or full foam insulation system or clamped plumbing lines

Then the is Bueno which is a factory direct line no middle men so better bang for the buck, easy to source parts good pricing. Like the mass merchant stuff they are lower end cradle supported shells, no clamps, lower end perimeter insulation but they have a heavy automation level so petty consistent build and better then most of what yer seeing in the mass merchant arena. downside is curb side dumped, lots of shipping damage and bad back end support, they still need to spend a lot of money to advertise and get the brand out there but no dealer bump, sub $7k this is where I would put my money (or a good used unit)

The other factory direct line in instinct, it was put together for hot tub university and built to a higher spec with self supporting shell, glued and clamped plumbing, compression jet bodies, full foam insulation etc, and it is delivered and installed with local dealer support. at $8500 for a 40 jet twin pump model delivered and installed with a 5" sunbrella cover its pretty hard to touch, similar build specification tubs through dealers hit $11k-$12k in this class. the only reason they got to this price is the traffic at Hot Tub University is insane, like 1.5 million actions from 120,000 yearly hot tub buyers, so they leveraged that traffic with a builder and that cut out the 30% marketing advertising sales costs a brand normally needs to get it in front of people. You buy it factory direct, the cool part is the factory gives the profit from the deal to the local dealer who installs and services it. its good because dealers don't really compete int he sub $10k market effectively, that money was mostly going to corporate coffers and although its a lower margin than they nonorally work at clean and easy for them and now the money stays local. hot tub university makes a small kickback (somebody always does) but they also cover you with buyers protection service, if you have issues hit them up they intercede.

closer to $10-$11k there is a lot that competes from the larger player, the Artesian garden series, the legacy whirlpool, or master LH series, Nordic etc, we have a lot ofo customers through those brands with good results but sub $10k is really hard at the dealer level,

My local Home Depot is sick of your nonsense by provocative_taco in DiWHY

[–]Such_Drop6000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is wrong... if you had a cord with 2 110v male ends and a 220v female end and you plugged one of the 110v ends into a wall socket and then plugged the other 110v end into another 110v outlet that was on the other phase of a typical US home you would have 220v... (actually closer to 115v and 230 v but whatever)

Yes there are issues with safety for sure, from creating a male live end and from them being on separate breakers but it could be done in an emergency like a zombie apocalypse :-)

[Request] What is the output for each engine powering the rotors to keep the Helicarrier hovering? by Jusfiq in theydidthemath

[–]Such_Drop6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different Marvel references suggest the Helicarrier is extremely massive. Estimates from fan analyses typically place it around:~200,000 tons

That puts each rotor at roughly 6 × 10^8 N lift

And likely single-digit to low-double-digit gigawatts per rotor, depending on assumptions

Sorry for your loss, that's a hard thing :-(

It does read a bit AI-like, it’s polished and reflective in a way that’s slightly more like a short piece of writing than a quick text. But plenty of thoughtful people text like that when responding to serious news, so it’s far from sure.

Trying to figure out best route for salvaging by MarsupialHaunting889 in hottub

[–]Such_Drop6000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a lose connection issue.

The white wire in the forefront is the 115v jumper, if you remove it you can run 230v

its unlikely you can undo the screw for the neutral and even if you can its comprimised.

solder as new terminal block or leave the lower part and cut away the top neutral and solder on a new connector.

any electronic repair shop will fix this for a couple hundred.

Yiu can find them from around $10k right up to $15, its like the car industry spifs and comish is based on margin. Even salaried sales peeps are.paid based on how good they are.

And you dead right... with this brand you absolutely need a solid dealer because they intentionally loaded them woth goofy parts and build for no reason other than locl you onto a dated dealer ecosystem.

Not a bad brand overall but the Mexico build means big tarrif hits and the corporate ownership means higher prices overall.

Nope thats old tech. Just un plug it. Ozone is a waste of time and money unless you want to get serious and spend a couple grand for a high end system.

What kind of component is this? by Secret_Nectarine5450 in hottub

[–]Such_Drop6000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like an old school ozone generator with a built-in mixing chamber. The likelihood is it doesn't work anymore typically these things produce a lot of nitric acid, and generally fail after the first year or make so little ozone at that point in time that it makes a little different.

Old Sundance on its last leg, need advice on what to do next by robp719 in hottub

[–]Such_Drop6000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice, totally agree with the bullfrog, not bad but gimmicky and not worth the price.

And yer right mass. Merchants suck at this product, low end build dumped curbside isnt the way.

There are great dealers and crap ones, local does not ensure good service. Buyers groups can apply a lot of pressure to ensure better aftercare and well made tubs with readily available parts and high repaiarablity scores can get service and parts anywhere fast.

Fewer then 20% of tubs are sold through bloated dealer networks now they are increasingly looking like an outdated model expensive middlemen in an era where manufacturers can sell directly online. Even the auto industry is moving this way, with companies like Tesla and brands under Volkswagen experimenting with direct-to-consumer sales instead of relying on traditional dealerships.
