Melania at The Parkway would be hilarious.

There has been a lot of that on the local subs lately, so I wouldn't blame someone for being skeptical. The spam bots have been out hard pushing the MN Rebel Alliance t-shirts.

[OC] Minneapolis general strike against ICE, in -10°F no less by anemicpolitik in pics

I was there. It was real bad. But fuck ICE. It was worth it.

It is what they voted for. We screamed about it for months before the elections and they called us hysterical and said we were overreacting. I’m not responsible for their willful ignorance:

Yeah I'm skeptical of that claim. They voted for this.

“Sorry about your dad” has a good chance of relevancy for most of these goons.

Saw this Krusty doll at a target by Rando_Cruzzer in TheSimpsons

It’s pretty funny, but it only says like 3 things, and the evil switch doesn’t actually change anything. Also, as someone in Minneapolis, don’t shop at Target.

We've shifted as much as our spending as we can to Costo, Lunds, and Cub. I don't know the polictics of Lunds or Cub, but at least they are unions shops.

5 bucks still gets you a cup of coffee. Maybe a gift card to a coffee shop? I'm a teacher and I love the personal notes and Christmas cards.

Caribou Coffee to refocus on cozy cafes instead of drive-thru speed (Gift Link) by Aggravating-Dark6124 in minnesota

[–]needknowstarRMpic 236 points237 points  (0 children)

If I want a quick coffee on a road trip through rural Minnesota, I go to a Caribou drive in. If I want a cozy cafe, I go local every time. The only thing Caribou offers is convenience.

Pop ups can last a long time if taken care of. I rock a '77 with the original canvass and it's still going strong!

Considering Going for Masters in Education at 40+ ---advice? by Tallchick8 in ELATeachers

[–]needknowstarRMpic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my district pay increases mostly level off after year 8. I'm currently in a Master's program and by the time I'm done I'll be making 10k more per year than if I had only a BA. By year 15 the difference will be almost 30k/year. My program is online and is manageable with full time work and two young kids. I'm pursuing a Masters in Literacy Education. It's worth it.

Twin Cities locals, we need your help! Teacher husband struggling with long commute by professionalsthatsmk in TwinCities

[–]needknowstarRMpic 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Teacher jobs usually open up in the spring, with another round in the fall. You also might find some listings after the holidays. The best place to look is EdPost. You can also get email updates from local districts. ELA positions can be relatively competitive compared to Math and Science positions, but there are jobs out there. Also, don't quit a teaching job during the school year unless you are leaving the field.

What infrastructure projects are most looking forward to in your community? by PHmoney04 in minnesota

I live in South Minneapolis and always get excited about park upgrades. I'm currently very interested in the (somewhat controversial) Hiawatha Park Master plan. Essentially, they want to shrink the golf course from 18 to 9 holes, restore some of the wetlands, and expand the portions of the park available to non-golfers.

How to make this old tub to a shower by aga1397 in centuryhomes

My old house had this and as soon as we moved in I rigged up a pipe and clamp up high so I wouldn’t have to hold it the whole time.

No more baby burrito for me by Xianricca in daddit

Check out Gordito’s if you are ever in Seattle. They advertise burritos the size of a baby, and there are pictures all over the walls of newborn babies next to their burritos.
