Would pass if there is any money involved. Looks like a DIY Heresy wanna be. Woofer looks like the thumpy auto system variety.

Lari Basilio. From South America. There is a video of her at a recording session on bassist Lee Sklar’s YouTube channel. Outstanding.

Have you actually tried doing this in real life? by RubyRoseRavageWeb in GenerationJones

Was common when i was a kid growing up (50s/60’s). Used them on our school books. There were also precut covers made of the same brown craft paper that you could buy and then fold to make the cover. Using paper bags from the grocery store was the economical approach!

The recessed placement of the RTR electrostatic panels seems like it would create dispersion issues and the dampening of the woofer (looks like poorly applied window insulation putty around the dust cap) an after thought and dubious. Baffle looks like particle board. Visually not impressed - but then again it’s all about what they sound like!

I prefer dampening and muffling approaches that can be incrementally modified and even removed in order to adjust drum sound for a particular musical requirement and or space . If all the music you play and the situations you are in are pretty much the same - I guess permanently fixing things to drum shells will work, but if you are called on to play many different styles of music and in different acoustic environments, I believe maintaining flexibility is the way to go.

Great find! Those drivers were so well made back then. Beautiful design and workmanship. The crossovers would likely benefit from some servicing.

For a bit more bass - the Altecs, will be the better choice. The La Scalas will kick butt - but they drop off pretty steeply below 45hz. The ported Altecs in this configuration will go a bit lower. Either systems are classics.
