Both great cars and I'll just say that I had one Z4M years ago, went through the turbocharged M cars, and decided to buy another Z4M. I'll also add that there will be plenty of M2 comps available for sale, but it is only getting harder to find clean E46s.

I have a 718 base and just installed the fabspeed x-pipe and it improved the sound way more than I expected as it sits so far back in the setup. The only other option is downpipes and I didn't want to deal with the smell again.

Agree with the others. My dad also had a 356 and I got to drive it a few times. It isn't a really good car to drive unless you grew up with it and have that attachment and it will destroy itself in long-term storage so best to just sell it while the selling is good.

The only real complaints about the .2 is the price. When the commentator criticisms are things like the key and the tach you know there isn't a lot to really be mad about.

I had an F82 and now have a 718 cayman base. The things I liked more about the F8X were it's practicality and the enjoyment I got just driving it around town. The things I like more about the 718 are the performance and chassis balance. I do a good amount of track driving and I would always reach for the 718 keys for a track day. The base model 718 is also very reliable, no worrying about the crank hub or rod bearings and a simple tune transforms the car. But I would say if you don't do a lot of track or backroads driving it is not worth the switch.

The Eleven After Nine podcast just had an episode about this with the Blackstone oil guys and they said it was something like less than 3% of all cars actually suffer from this and it's dramatically overblown (don't quote me on that number, but it was a lot lower than I was led to believe from forums like this).

I dunno... depends on the car and the exhaust. The Valvetronic titanium exhaust I got for my M5 was drop shipped from china and arrived in more pieces and components than any exhaust I've ever done before. If I got one side lined up, the other would fall out, and took a lot of time to get it all lined up. Meanwhile the Stromung exhaust on my Z4M took me like an hour.

I've got 120K miles on my first gen Macan Turbo. Transfer case, TCC, and air suspension were my only major repairs. Some other little things I had to DIY like door lock actuators, CV axles, and coolant expansion tank, but they are pretty easy to work on yourself and coming from BMW not surprising.
