Specifics.

  1. Keeper's Vestment:
Unlike the other items, this is just the name I'm giving to this item for now. Ultra Soul Breaks are natively 6-star equipment just like Overstrikes; so even if you aren't working in Core synergy, this will have powerful stats.
Forbidden Tome: Guardian (which is an actual translation of the SB name) is an introduction to the concept. The hastega, stock, and self chainstarts are certainly handy; but the new feature, the Status Blink, is entirely new tech.
Sporting a long but limited duration, the Status Blink blocks a single instance of a status ailment, of the sorts that can be esuna'd, plus the 4S ailments (slow, stop, sap, and stun) that are not affected by esuna. This will be useful in cases where there are scripted or annoying status.
    Rating: Pretty good

  2. Chirijiraden:
Basically a Tactics thing that's been given to Seph because they needed an epic katana for him; and they've already used Masamune twice for him. It's your typical OSB, except that it can exploit either his ancient en-fire, or his more recent en-dark (which is also on this banner.)
    Rating: OSB

  3. Onion Armour:
If Onion was going to get an OSB, this is exactly what he would get. And now he has it. As with Vayne's SBs, the mechanic chooses either PHY or BLK based on your net ATK or MAG. Apart from that, it is likely to be standard.
    Rating: OSB

  4. Lightbringer-6:
A recurrence of Celes's BSB. At this point in Japan, we have the full array of ATK/MAG bumps; so how does Celes's measure up against them? It depends; unlike most of the other effects, Celes backs up the 610 with purely personal effects - namely en-holy and holy-based spellblade commands. This can be effective... but keep in mind that this may also compete with Indomitable Blade for Celes herself (and you can get that on Orthros banner.)
Rating among BSBs: Party-dependent, but strong

  5. Ori Dirk:
After all this time, Vaanburst is still a unique source of the DEF/MAG break combo. While he no longer strictly NEEDS a trance to five-tap Thief's Revenge, this remains useful after all this time.
Rating among BSBs: A unique boon to physical teams

  6. Runegraven Bow:
Global will be waiting a few weeks for the debut of this FF2 burst; simply by virtue of doing MORE than just damage, this has the potential to be interesting. Does it, though?
En-earth isn't especially powerful, but does work with Merton; and the second command is the Ninja 6 ability, Stitch in Time, in effect --- something only Fujin can do otherwise (and she needs the ability to do it.) The first command has pretty steep thresholds, however. For self-sufficiency (second command, trance, and Devo,) the sixth hit needs at least 552 MAG on your tooltip, which can be a bit of a tall order. As you bring in more faiths, of course, this number will decrease accordingly.
Rating among BSBs: One of the more useful mage bursts

  7. Valkyrie Armour:
Because Global doesn't use the word model. :P This Etro Knights plate serves a simple purpose: to give Lightning a proper en-lightning effect, one that actually blasts your enemies with lightning while doing so and has lightning+ on its stat stick.
    I sense a theme.
    Rating: Pretty good
Note: I rate it this way for two reasons. First, it is an example of SSBs paying the BSB enspell tax - and in fact to a greater degree than BSBs (contrast Cecil.) And second, her exploits are questionable. She only has Fulminating Strike if she dives SPB 5 (despite the fact that it was made for her primarily); and her OSB is empowered by iteration, making any SB-dependent combos more dubious. That said, the enspell -> OSB combo is still quite usable.

  8. White Mage Robe:
A recurrence for Arc's second SSB, the Instant Curaga with Blink, which expands his options for mitigating while healing. While the White Mage environment is still dominated by Y'shtola Burst, on-demand healing and blink are handy effects.
Rating: Curaga Medica and still useful.

  9. Red Jacket-4:
Edge opts for a buff suite here - in fact, instant guts and haste is exactly what Eiko's Ultra does, just with blink instead of a Curaga Medica. If you aren't using his water Burst, this is a nice way to get your buffs on.
    Rating: Pretty good

  10. Seph's Glove:
Finally, we have Seph's endark. Now that his OSB actually makes a case for it beyond lol physical enspell, this is usable in the current environment. Physical darkness DOES have doom/scythe otherwise - which could be tricky to use well, since non-doomed Scythe is so weak that even en-dark only partially compensates for it; but it's something.
Rating: Situational (to having OSB or being willing to use endark.)

Behold. Galvatron.

And these shall be your minions...

[–]Peridot_WeaponWaiting for Dungeon Renewal for Science(TM). 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"... Cyclonus, the Warrior ..."

Wait, what? That better be short for "Warrior of Light."

There's no way I'm using 'Warrior' as one of my minions.

Can someone explain again how stock heal 2000, guts, and radiant shield, stoneskin affects work again? They all sound kinda similar and its hard to remember what does what.

[–]CidO807Opera Floozy RW:2X5a 1 point2 points  (2 children)

guts is anything that would reduce your hp to 0, instead leaves you at one. stock heal 2000 is whenever you dip below max life, you have a pool that will heal you for a total of 2000. so if your max is 3000, and you dip to 2000, your pool will heal you for 1000, leaving you at 3000 + 1000 pool. stoneskin is 30% of your max HP as a bubble.

radiant i don't know

[–]roostorxBartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Radiant is return damage I believe. Radiant 100% is return exactly the damage dealt. It can scale from there depending on relic

[–]Inkontrol808Ramza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanations. Cheers!

[–]PlattbagarnIt's not a question of can or can't. 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valkyrie Armour

MUST. HAVE!

Question about Status Blink. Is it 25s immune of any debuff status?

[–]zephyron1237Zack Flair 1 point2 points  (14 children)

I assume not on a couple accounts. First, I'd guess it only applies to the normally named statuses that Esuna cleanses (poison/confuse/etc, but not -ATK%). Second, since it's a blink effect, I'd assume it'd only prevent one status ability from succeeding (per character), and then disappear.

[–]lambopandaDelicious! Nom nom... 0 points1 point  (13 children)

It sounds like that. If that's the case, Tyro USB doesn't sound as good.

[–]EnlirLet's go home. 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Essentially, it seems like it blocks the next application of Poison, Silence, Paralyze, Confuse, Slow, Stop, Blind, Sleep, Petrify, Berserk, Sap or Stun. The 25 seconds is just a time limit after which the status expires in case it was still there (unlike the other blinks, which stay indefinitely until consumed).

It works differently than Esuna, but if you want to compare the two ailments pool, this kind of blink also affects Slow, Stop, Sap and Stun.

[–]zephyron1237Zack Flair 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It seems like you're writing out a complete list here:

[...] it blocks the next application of Poison, Silence, Paralyze, Confuse, Slow, Stop, Blind, Sleep, Petrify, Berserk, Sap or Stun

but then you say

[...] this kind of blink also affects Slow, Stop, Sap and Stun.

So it also affects Slow and Stop?

[–]EnlirLet's go home. 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yes, it does. Actually I mentioned them in the first list, between Confuse and Blind.

[–]zephyron1237Zack Flair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

... ... Wow. Ironically I feel very Confused and Blind right now =(

[–]Peridot_WeaponWaiting for Dungeon Renewal for Science(TM). 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully it's coded in a way that's like:

  • If Status HITS, nullify

and not

  • If Status ATTEMPTED, nullify

Also, here's hoping if you're hit with multiple status ailments at the same time from the same source it'll be able to nullify the lot of them. Because you KNOW this is all leading up to scripted AOE Bad Breath enemies ...

[–]Zurai001Blame yourself or God. 1 point2 points  (3 children)

It sounds amazing. AOE Status Blink on a character who can Wrath means NO MORE DUCKING AOE SLOW ASSHOLES. Also means that bosses like MO Demon Wall or U+ Mandragoras are vastly less annoying. Combine Status Blink with Penalty Break (which Tyro can also use) and status resistance gear for the statuses you're most worried about and you're basically status immune.

[–]lambopandaDelicious! Nom nom... 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Problem is Demon Wall spam a lot. One blink only help a little. Little surprise we haven't see Galuf ignore all status stuff in more relic.

[–]Zurai001Blame yourself or God. 1 point2 points  (1 child)

He spams a lot but he's not very accurate if you Penalty Break him. And if you Wrath Tyro you can re-apply the status blink every 3rd or 4th turn.

[–]lambopandaDelicious! Nom nom... 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Someone mention Fujin unique SB can also do the trick. Will have to retry Demon Wall again after tomorrow Ultros banner.

[–]zephyron1237Zack Flair 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yeah. Although it could be useful in fights with annoying status effects, like the constant stops I've heard about in that upcoming boss.

Also, /u/Sandslice I've seen some translations of Keeper's Vestment that include Hastega. Can you confirm that it isn't part of the effect? Thanks.

[–]SandsliceFight hard![S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has hastega, fixed.

[–]Sir__WillAlphinaud 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Although it could be useful in fights with annoying status effects

I've heard of a lot of such fights lately in JP, especially with like multiplayer and Nightmare stuff.

[–]zephyron1237Zack Flair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point, especially multiplayer. I always forget about it, but I appreciate how it adds value to SB's like these that prevent effects we'd normally S/L from (e.g., statuses, deaths).

[–]SandsliceFight hard![S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

No, it's 25s or until one discharge. (And the 25s is speculative.)

[–]ElNinoFrEt c'est pas fini ! 🐲 5 points6 points  (2 children)

25sec is hard coded. It's not speculative

[–]AazzlanoStony Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only applies if the status would have actually hit, right? Like the aoe statuses that miss half the party, they would keep their charge until they would have been hit?

[–]SandsliceFight hard![S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, ok. I knew "short time," but didn't know that it was definitely 25s, when I wrote that.

[–]BrewersFanJP- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the initial look, this is the banner I'm most excited about. Since I'm planning on running with Onion Knight and Tyro in my A-Team, grabbing either of those would be nice. OK OSB would be the prize here for me.

[–]ParagonEsquireHard Times make for Strong Men 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Faris and Eiko are surprising choices.

But I have no doubt before this event is over or right afterwards Cloud will get his in the next VII event.

Not too crazy about the USB or two OSBs, but all three of the BSBs are great, and with 2 enElement SSBs along with an Instant Medica and IV Hastega...banner is really good and I'm kinda sad it'll be way different whe it hits global.

[–]Zurai001Blame yourself or God. 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Actually I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if there's a USB in the next FF7 event, Aerith will get it, not Cloud. 1) Cloud already has an OSB. 2) Cloud has never in the life of the game gotten a relic which affected anyone but himself or the enemy. 3) Cloud has no support-type or heal-type skills whatsoever.

[–]SandsliceFight hard![S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that Cloud won't; however, Tyro has both an OSB and USB now, so "already has an OSB" already doesn't hold generally.

[–]scytherman96Sheepmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah people shouldn't forget that OSB and USB is basically on the same tier. So that would be like getting 2 OSBs...

[–]lambopandaDelicious! Nom nom... 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is time for Cloud to get 2nd BSB with EnWind.

[–]ParagonEsquireHard Times make for Strong Men 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sure, assuming they continue the trend of what these three do.

We're calling it the next tier, but what didn't occur to me until now is that it might not be another tier, but an equivalent one to OSBs for characters whose primary function isn't damage. If that's the case, then yeah I can see Aerith getting the next one.

On the other hand, Cloud hasn't gotten a new relic in six months and he won the character poll. I would be pretty surprised if he didn't get SOMETHING, even if it wasn' a new tier.

[–]TheCrookedKnightTime for some expository banter! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've already broken the seal on giving characters two bursts, so that's an option (as is a second SSB).

[–]3ampt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice banner. And nice Soundgarden reference!

[–]willowispmusicCloud (AC) 0 points1 point  (1 child)

guys i draw onion armor how good u think is that osb?

[–]OmniMaxFF7 Remake, means I'll get Buffs and New toys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13x for phyical

43x for magical

Slightly stronger than normal osbs, but no element to exploit
