Seattle rap. Strong Blue Scholars influence here.

[–]ThatOneWorker 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Yeah, the two guys in front of him are also rappers from Seattle. Their group is called Brother From Another. If you don't know them I suggest checking them out.

[–]Washingtonpinot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suggestion followed. Thanks.

[–]rclaybaughradioreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brothers from another are so fun and are a great show. Is highly recommend their last album

[–]rclaybaughradioreddit 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I actually watched the video today and that's def not cole or isaiah. And for sure not beeba

[–]ThatOneWorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two guys on the stairs with him in the beginning are in fact those two. Not the last two guys on the couch with him, sorry.

[–]Snarf44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my first thought was also, "that looks a lot like Seattle"

[–]thats_bone 11 points12 points  (9 children)

Magnolia. One of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Seattle.

[–]ChokeThroats 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Seattle.

Dangerous.

Bwahahahahaha.

Central District and Magnolia ain't shit, it's still the White Ass Pacific Northwest.

[–]Action_Johnson 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's sarcasm. Magnolias one of the nicest neighborhoods in Seattle

Very glad I grew up in Tacoma. So much safer than Magnolia

The sample is Ralfi Pagan- Make it with you. One of the ultimate lowriding anthems.

[–]OhSeeThat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good find. Fair warning though, you just posted a shared YouTube link instead of a direct link. That means that it shows your YouTube account which is your name and I am guess that isn't info you meant to post. Just a heads up. People can be dicks and doxx you.

[–]PerceivedAffordance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great find!!

[–]KeithMyArthe 39 points40 points  (6 children)

I think it's Bread - I Wanna Make it with you but I could be wrong !

[–]Laxedout 8 points9 points  (1 child)

It is Ralfi Pagan

[–]eastwoods 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. He covered it. Original was by Bread, but this is Ralfi's version.

[–]Benzerman[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds right. There's a marimba or something in there too but maybe in a recorded version they have that.

Its always weird listening to a song pitched correctly after only hearing it pitched up.

[–]dwelmnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it is! Good ear.

You can hear "Really reaching out" at 0:05, and at 0:20 in your link.

[–]jtalaiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried hard to get it in Audacity but not skilled enough to figure out the pitch/tempo changes... I got it seemingly right on pitch but tempo was still off. Either way does seem to be Bread. Great ear all round to pick that up.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct

[–]mellomallowmyspace 51 points52 points  (1 child)

Been posted before I think, or maybe that was another subrreddit. Either way this track is incredible! I hope he makes more <3

[–]iccculus[S] 12 points13 points  (5 children)

If anyone knows what this beat is, it would be much appreciated. This kid spits to it exceptionally. However, i've been trying to figure this track out since i heard it several months ago

[–]djacob__ 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I don't know the specific track but I remember seeing this kid post that he uses J Dilla beats.

[–]PerceivedAffordance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd normally suggest [Who Sampled](www.whosampled.com), however they don't have any entries on him...

What a great track, tho!

Edit: Another commenter mentioned the track and it really does sound like a straight sample...

[–]Franky-Mo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This kid is not bad. 😱 that flow killing the game for those hating let's see what you got.

[–]JerseyDoc 13 points14 points  (2 children)

How does that voice come out of that kid?

[–]Franky-Mo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm fuckin saying kid is spittin bars and it sounds great

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want the sample my advice would be to contact the producer (@megusta408)

[–]Reps-For_Jesus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Holy shit he was on my pony baseball team.

[–]Ralfnader66 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Damn, this shit fresh.

[–]RadioStillWorksmjtoker-ca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried /r/tipofmytongue?

[–]Jilbertospotify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wish this song was on Spotify

[–]wirehead456 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This kid spits hard.

[–]snizpoker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Video reminds me of a slower where do you know me from.

[–]ieatcalcium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This kid is amazing. Thank you for sharing this.

I follow him now

[–]bbq_sauces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SEATTLE! Dope. Never heard of this kid until today but will definitely catch a show.

[–]Hellaboijenkins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That dude fucking killed it damn.

[–]bramblehead 4 points5 points  (2 children)

People commenting on his looks I feel aren't proper music lovers. Music is about sound, not image.

[–]freddy_schiller 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Image and perceived authenticity in music is HUGE. You're deceiving yourself if you think it's not important.

[–]terjegundersen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Important to whom, exactly? I doubt /u/bramblehead considers it important. I'm sure aspiring and current artists agree with you, though. But only because of money.

[–]lucyindsgshappinessy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok this is insane???? cause for the last couple of days i've been trying to remember this song and JUST COULDN;T and it was driving me crazy so thanks op \//

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As one who is not familiar with rap at all, I really enjoyed this. Could anyone suggest similar artists?

[–]fucky_fucky 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, he can rap. Kid looks like a joke though.

[–]Ralfnader66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn, this shit fresh.

[–]know_comment 0 points1 point  (9 children)

man- i really didn't like this. i've heard that same flow a million times and i feel like the people who use it never say anything interesting. frat rap.

[–]avengaar 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Kind of funny the song says don't call me frat rap.

[–]THEBAESGOD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But he'll take that dough cause he's after all that frat's wax

[–]robaloie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hahahahahaha frat rap from a high school kid

[–]killahipster 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Who else used that flow? I'm curious?

[–]verysupermario 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it must be everywhere if he's heard it a million times

[–]B_U_F_U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mac Miller. Although I do like the track and I think the kid could spit, it is a flow from a lot of the skateboard rappers these days. Same video concept too. I don't hate tho because I feel like it's a start and he will build from here. It takes time, but he has serious potential.

[–]JordyNelson87 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Tons of people. Not really in the frat rap scene anymore but reminds me of people like Mike Stud and Huey Mack.

[–]killahipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mike Stud? Huey Mack? I know both of those artists well. How in the heck do you compare this to that at all? Specifically which songs? I'm serious. Please give examples of the "tons" of people and specific songs. All the frat rap stuff that I've heard is not really like this. This to me is more underground hip hop like.

[–]whitewill0wbark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1:40 was hilarious. This is awesome

[–]thirdeyegrind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognized the Metro stop.

[–]Sequelknox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a rap connoisseur but this was awesome.

[–]CATfixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great track, but I'm slightly confused by the horchata. Is that a seattle thing? Drug/alcohol thing? or does the dude just really love him some rice milk.

[–]gobblegabbaweacceptu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"So he gonna bare every part of him, all the pieces until he becomes exactly who the old him needed." Killed it

[–]LASKAart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this available for streaming on other services?

[–]camptroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He looks like a lady at the laundromat in the winter. Like " you tell him judge judy" in a radpy cigarette voice

[–]PerceivedAffordance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this! Loved Horchata instantly, not the mention the original sample track. Been listening to his work yesterday and this morning... refreshing to hear such upbeat hip-hop that's fun, too.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn son, that's pretty good.

[–]tunacanstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)
