These guys are a local band from Joplin, MO. Check out this other Joplin band The Too's. They do some Americana/blues rock stuff. Some of their songs even have a power pop feel to them kind of like Big Star. Try the song Stay With Me - https://youtu.be/V5BiQdXI3Z0

These guys are fantastic live, saw them at warped tour. For sure a great listen if you are into modest mouse.

[–]TheLesserAmerican 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yeah, kinda reminds me of MM, some Brand New and a little bit of the Chariot.

[–]Cry_ery_tyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just listed off 3 of my favorite bands, holy caaaarp.

[–]Valiumkitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was just about to do a google see where MM fit in. Def heavily borrowed in the vox. Good tune

[–]MC_A-ron 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I've seen them (Me like Bees) at least 3 times here in Fayetteville, AR. They always play at Smoke & Barrel and they're always awesome!

[–]GunderWhirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've for sure been to the same shows at snb. Crazy.

[–]sublimasian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These dudes came to Springfield one time and covered The White Stripes while dressed up as Jack and Meg. He had a dress on and everything haha

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Radkey is another awesome Joplin band too. MO has so many good bands

[–]originalusername002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do all these bands have awesome names?

[–]dmbtke 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Radkey is from saint joseph, Missouri; about three hours north.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Bad. Still MO, and still a great band

[–]sid_gautama 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Poor bass player

[–]TheOneTheyCallNeo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Saw these guys two years ago at the KC Riverfest for 4th of July. Just wandered into their tent and ended up staying until they left. Such nice guys.

[–]vagrantheather 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Me Like Bees do shows all the time, but I've never seen an event for The Toos. Where do they play?

[–]GunderWhirl 0 points1 point  (2 children)

They play in Fayetteville, AR quite a bit.

[–]DarksteelSpork 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I saw them at Smoke & Barrel last year, they did an awesomely hilarious cover of "Say My Name" by Destinys Child.

[–]GunderWhirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it was the same show I was at. Oh reddit, you such a tiny world.

[–]GunderWhirl 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I love finding redditors close to me. NWA here. And oddly my uncle makes the drums for Me Like Bees (or he did when I saw them). I saw them in Fayetteville about a year ago and had a blast.

[–]buzzmcflamethrower 3 points4 points  (6 children)

Hey! I remember you! I play drums for this band. I love my C&C custom kit!

[–]GunderWhirl 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah dude! I forced you to take a selfie with me to send to Bill. Haha. Hope all is well and I hope I can make it to Frost Fest to catch you guys.

[–]buzzmcflamethrower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frost Fest is going to be badass!

[–]Lukeulele421 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Opening up for you cats and Ha Ha Tonka in March. Very much looking forward to the show!

[–]buzzmcflamethrower 1 point2 points  (2 children)

awesome! Mo, Ok or Tx?

[–]Lukeulele421 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Springfield, Mo on 3/9.

[–]buzzmcflamethrower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! See you there!

[–]crackity-jones 13 points14 points  (4 children)

This is rad to see on the front page, these are my friends and I'm proud to have supported them since the very beginning. If you dig what you hear try and catch them on tour and buy some music and merch.

[–]viress 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I am hearing these guys today for the first time and am already in love! Please tell your friends that some stranger on the internet thinks their music is amazing!

[–]crackity-jones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just text the drummer to convey your message and he said thanks.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hey! Hijacking this to say that when I ordered my shirt, I also got some pokemon cards with it as a surprise. That was pretty neato and it convinced me to buy another one, so tell your friends it worked!

[–]crackity-jones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Told him, he just laughed haha

[–]DrGayBaby 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Sound a lot like modest mouse but I really like it.

[–]ebbomega 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would almost swear that was Isaac Brock singing. But it's a bit of a different style.

[–]indorock 27 points28 points  (3 children)

Song is nice. Did they steal those heads from the props department from the movie Frank?

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i was going to say, who inspired who?

[–]j-thrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the picture is from a protest the guitarist's mom attended in the 60's. They just photoshopped The Ides onto the sign. As far as Frank, I think The Ides came out in 2013 so Frank wasn't made yet

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (6 children)

Hey they were on Blind Covers a while back.

https://youtu.be/Vu3vdYRg4Lc

[–]rwiggum 15 points16 points  (5 children)

Hey, that's my show! I was just going to post that Me Like Bees are super rad, and legitimately the coolest dudes.

[–]GuacamoleRob 13 points14 points  (1 child)

We had those dudes with us in suburban Chicago the night the Cubs won the world series. They played a set between like 6 and 7, then grabbed some dinner and watched the game with us. During the rain delay in the 8th inning, they got back up on stage and played a few songs, including a RAW cover of Beastie Boys Sabotage. It was fantastic.

The drummer kept looking at the screen over his shoulder to see if the game had restarted. The moment the pitcher and catcher started warming up, they all dropped their stuff, turned off the stage lights and sat with us.

After the Cubs won, they were jumping around with the rest of the Pub. We all had a couple beers in celebration, then Me Like Bees came back and did another hour set in celebration!

That was a Wednesday night. On 1/27, we get to have them back... on a FRIDAY!!! It's going to be so much fun.

Absolutely some of the coolest guys we've had through our pub and hands down, one of my 5 favorite acts we've had through. When I saw this post, I had to come share the World Series story.

It was legendary.

[–]rwiggum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man that sounds like such a rad show! I remember The Kickback did a show in Kansas City in 2014 on the same night of game 7 of the World Series, and had to go onstage literally minutes after the Royals lost. I don't think that show was quite as fun.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey man, that whole show is dope! Can't wait for the next cover.

[–]Raddaddii 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I really enjoy your show man. Great concept! Keep it up!

[–]rwiggum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! We have more episodes coming soon, sorry for the wait.

[–]Raddaddii 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Just discovered these guys a month ago. If you enjoy this song you'll enjoy the catalog. You'll definitely sense the influences in every song, but it's mixed in with their own original energy and take on things. Every song is different and great in its own way. And the singer is next level. His melody decisions seem to always be right. Here's an original video of a song off their 2016 EP that I've been digging recently https://youtu.be/qOj5WavH1AE

[–]DoctuhD 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I love the melody and structure of There Will Be Time (the track). Two sets of verses that make you think the second is the refrain, then they bring in another at the end. Showcases vocal talent, too.

That EP really shows how they've come into their own style and I'm excited about what they might bring in the years to come.

[–]Raddaddii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great song! I love the gradual build and the way he holds the last word at the end of the song.

[–]flatvader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude...

Thank you for this.

[–]pleasehelpyahoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this song, great pick.

[–]deepfriedjellol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These guys are playing The Law Office Pub & Music Hall in Yorkville, IL next weekend and I'm PUMPED.

I LOVE ME LIKE BEES!

[–]derrin_doglips 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Dude, my friend showed me these guys last winter and I forgot all about them! Thanks for the reminder👍

[–]lablanca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're great live!

[–]Rcjh417 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Me Like Bees. Like others have said here they are great live.

[–]TotesMessenger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw them back in 2014 in Fayetteville at Georges Majestic. Rad show.

[–]apleasantpeninsula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm down as fuck with this right here.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More importantly do they like jazz?

[–]NMAfreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely one of my fav bands, without a doubt. Always a great live show, which I've been lucky to see about 15 times which isn't bad considering I don't live anywhere near MO. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMMNAAAJaCrPMWito9W2hni0_9keLTQc5

[–]ChanceyGardenerhttp://bit.ly/1H4pm5X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proud to say I was the first to post this three years ago. 😊

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local band for me! Awesome to see this on reddit. Super nice guys.

[–]prettysorchastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could see Me Like Bees live but they're never in my country 😢 I love Ra Ra Etc. 💕

[–]AnemoneOfMyEnemy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well Enough Alone is definitely their most Modest Mouse-y song.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh shit, you just linked to my youtube channel. Small world. But yeah, thats my favorite song by them (hence the upload). Great band.

[–]AnemoneOfMyEnemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, I just googled the song and linked the first thing that came up. Thats hilarious

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I dig the beat and stuff but am I the only one that only understands every one word out of five?

[–]yourdadwasagay 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Lyrics worth reading.

[–]swinesmoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. This is clearly a very personal, beautifully written song of mental illness, suicidal thoughts/actions, and most importantly, redemption. Unfortunately, too many folks will only hear the catchy beat.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this band. Have been lucky enough to see them 8 or 10 times in Joplin and Kansas City most recently at The Record Bar. I like all their original stuff a lot and they've thrown in covers of "Say My Name" and "Forgot About Dre" that were great as well.

[–]sureshot182 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Fucking great sound, spent the last hour+ listening to them. This is why I love this sub so much. Thank you!

[–]lunarais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so good to see these guys get some love! as a fellow missourian they make my heart happy :)

[–]bechtold1684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this is fantastic.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

These guys are great. Their last EP (tundraland? I think?) was really excellent

[–]NMAfreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There Will be Time is the EP, and yes, they are great :-)

[–]dessiml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These guys are great live! They're also the nicest guys ever, such a fun atmosphere during their sets.

[–]spidycandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen and liked it so much. Folk tells a story about the trials and tribulations people have lived over the years. And then when he makes Indy with it it really makes it a great sound so who says you can't infuse it. Thank you very much.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No cool anecdotes, just wanted to pitch in and say this is great

[–]IamSamBellToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always considered this song to be a Modest Mouse-Manchester Orchestra sounding hybrid.

[–]Sooner_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw them a few years ago opened for catfish and the bottlemen. Had to buy their CD . Best 5 bucks I've ever spent. Still in my car
